There must be some kind of way out of here
Said the joker to the thief
Too much confusion
I can't get no relief
Businessmen they drink my wine
Then the plowmen they dig my earth
None of them along the line
Know what any of its worth
No reason to get excited
The thief he kindly spoke
There are many among us
Who feel that life is but a joke, ha ha
But you and I we've been through all that
Yes we have, and this is not our fate
So let us not talk falsely now
The hour is getting late
All along the watchtower
Princes kept their view, oh
While all the women, all the women
All the women came and they went
Barefoot servants too
Outside in the cold distance
A wild cat did growl, la la la
Two riders were approaching
The wind began to howl, yeah, la la la
All along the watchtower
Princes kept their view, oh
While all the women, all the women
All the women came and they went
Barefoot servants too
Outside in the cold distance
A wild cat did growl, la la la
Two riders were approaching

While all the women, all the women
All the women came and they went
Barefoot servants too
Outside in the cold distance
A wild cat did growl
Two riders, two riders were approaching
The wind began to howl
The money's safe
The thief is safe
The money's safe
The thief is safe
No reason to get excited!

I witnessed (and survived) Eric Clapton on his "I shot the sheriff" tour in the (ick, sorry, awful) Clapton era of the '80's, (standing) 2 rows from the stage. He was, clearly, 3-sheets to the wind. Nonetheless, his finger memory skills carried the day. He lives, despite the challenges of everyday living, as a gifted artisan. Cheers, Eric.
IMO, this is awful. I love this song (Watchtower), but not this version. Hendrix owns the song, even Dylan says so.
Oh no... just hit the Stairway break.
At least there's some energy when they came back to Watchtower.

I don't mind Dave Matthews Band, but for this song, I almost wish there was a negative rating possible.
Lucky enough to be at that show (which included the first ever front to back playing of an album- Before These Crowded streets). I'm always amused by the haters who seemingly think they get extra points for their vitriol........ while an insane number of us just love them but aren't out trying to convert the rest of you.
Dave is the luckiest white boy with a guitar, it needs to be said more...
that goofy phuckhead
DON'T GIVE ME SHIT FOR SAYING IT! you know it's true
UNDER the TABLE and DREAMING was a GREAT album

Superb piece of music! Love the emotional tribute to Jimi and, then, subtly, that guitar solo transition to LZ's Stairway to Heaven! Blew my mind!
Yup realy enjoyed it , cranking the vibes about all the world has to offer via Jimi and Led Zeppelin, after Mainline Florida, Hot Blood (L Williams) and Severed Decemberists)! That's why we love RP!
great rendition... really enjoyed it
Can't stand DMB. A good example of why
