there’s a million different reasons
you wouldn’t appear
took my picture by the fountain
for something to share
hoping you might get the message
and think of me there
your face lit up by the image
like a postcard
saying wish you were here

your feet on the sand
your hand in my hand
your feet on the sand
your hand in my hand

he went home to the south island
to get himself straight
but the ōtākaro river couldn’t wash it away
brought back gifts for all the children
greenstones on strings
and a soft white lamb just for me
but did it do a thing?

your feet on the sand
your hand in my hand
your feet on the sand
your hand in my hand

when i was out in california
i wrote you from the hills
but the words that we were sharing
were never quite for real
there were all the unsent letters at the bottom of the bin
asking why you look so strung out, junky thin?
but i wish you were here

your feet on the sand
your hand in my hand
your feet on the sand
your hand in my hand

not a myth tied to a mast
you’re a man upon the shore
sirens knocking at your door
and they always find you
sleeping on the floor
in the mess you left before
and every time they call
it sounds just like my father’s name

put your hand into my hand
put your hand into my hand
put your hand into my hand
put your hand into my hand

don’t forget
when you go to sleep tonight
six green eyes like yours
lie wide open

your feet on the sand
your hand in my hand
your feet on the sand
your hand in my hand

oooo - just picked up the New Zealand references. Kia ora Alice  :)  It's nice when you find the artist has had a connection to your home.. Enjoying it anyway!

was about to say, I know that accent.

Edit:  seems like she is English. Great great granddaughter of Sigmund Freud no less

We just got back from a month in Aotearoa New Zealand, including a lovely day touring the Botanical Gardens in Christchurch, which is surrounded by a bend of the Ōtākaro.

Would be nice if a North Island placename got an honourary mention - just to keep us Jaffa's in the mix!

nice, but I kept thinking my phone was ringing.
Just passively listening and looked to see who it was and was surprised it was not Karen O
Just released it looks like. I like it. Soothing and gentle.

Alice Costelloe is a London-based singer-songwriter and musician known for her delicate, art-pop solo work and her tenure in the critically acclaimed shoegaze duo Big Deal.

Solo Career and Debut Album

Costelloe released her debut full-length solo album, Move On With The Year, on February 6, 2026, through Moshi Moshi Records. Produced by Mike Lindsay (of LUMP and Tunng), the record marks a shift from her indie-rock roots toward a texture-rich palette of woodwinds, synths, and mellotron.

Musical Style: Fragile melodies and introspective lyrics drawing comparisons to artists like Cate Le Bon, Feist, and Julia Jacklin.

Key Solo Releases: Move On With The Year (Album, 2026) When It’s The Time (EP, 2024) So Neurotic (EP, 2023)

Instrumental Shift: For her debut album, she moved away from her primary instrument, the guitar, to write on the flute and piano to find "new melodic worlds".

Too bad about the heavy echo effect on the vocals...
Lenght: 0:00 - wow, that's rather short. But i like it.
A little bit like Cocteau Twins.
