Well I told you once and I told you twice
But ya never listen to my advice
You don't try very hard to please me
With what you know it should be easy

Well this could be the last time
This could be the last time
Maybe the last time
I don't know. Oh no. Oh no

Well, I'm sorry girl but I can't stay
Feelin' like I do today
It's too much pain and too much sorrow
Guess I'll feel the same tomorrow

Well this could be the last time
This could be the last time
Maybe the last time
I don't know. Oh no. Oh no

Well this could be the last time
This could be the last time
Maybe the last time
I don't know. Oh no. Oh no

Well I told you once and I told you twice
That someone will have to pay the price
But here's a chance to change your mind
'Cause I'll be gone a long, long time

Well this could be the last time
This could be the last time
Maybe the last time
I don't know. Oh no. Oh no

Last time baby
Oh no no no

My first Stones acquisition on vinyl was a 45 of Ruby Tuesday on one side, Lets Spend the Night Together on the other. I really wanted to hear Ruby Tuesday in the worst way and played it all the time but my folks were not pleased about hearing the flipside.
GODLIKE!!! ICONIC!!!
RIP Charlie Watts!

One hit wonders.
After this song they were never heard from again.
Sorry, Cyndi!

Keith's riff just pummeled your maudlin 80's ballad that I wish would go away forever.
So primitive.  So good!

Tappin' toes!!  {#Bananasplit}{#Bananajam}

This song is as classic as a 1965 Cadillac Coupe de Ville convertible.

I'd cut it after Some Girls, but let's not split hairs.

No matter how long they lasted, the Stones never sounded better to me than these early classics. In fact, to me they ceased being a must-hear band in about 1978. But to that point, no one had done it better.

in about 1963 to me.   {#Rolleyes}
What is that instrument that starts in the beginning and keeps repeating, with the raspy sound?  It is unfamiliar to me and does not jive with what I'm accustomed to hearing on RP.  And the vocal is so harsh - couldn't these guys afford a vocal synth to wash it out?

In total agreement!

I love the restrained energy of this song. It's bursting with it.
And the tour next year?
Great song from their early period.
Just dug out my black vinyl copy.... damn.  It's mono..........

Hah! Got you beat.......Went to school with Keith R. Mind you, although he's only 2 years older than me in metric years, I like to think he now looks 20 years older. In Neptune years.
At least.

Hmmm, thought this was on December's Children.  I was mistaken.  How could I have not remembered that?  It's only been 45 years.

Yep yep!{#Cowboy}
The precursor to 'Satsifaction'.  Better imho....{#Bananajam}

we still miss ya Brian

This tune really flipped my switch when I was sixteen years old. I really liked the Beatles and everything but when Brian Jones starts off "The Last Time" with that riff built on the E-D-A progression I was hooked big time. The next year I scraped up $80 to buy a Danelectro Longhorn Bass and the race was on.

Man, I hope you still have that bad boy. Saw Marshall Crenshaw the other night, and he pulled out an old Danlectro six-string for the encore to the first set. Hadn't seen one in years. Sweet.

But I know what you mean by hooked. Me, too.

Havent heared this for years. Thanks Bill!
I'm giving it a 9 for nostalgia's sake.  I love early Stones.
I just noticed I rated this an 8. What the hell was I thinking?

Bumped it to 9.

Ah yes, this really is "where it all began" for Mick & Keith. A simple catchy guitar riff/hook and they're off to the races. I'm sure they never dreamed they'd be selling out football stadiums in their 60s! Still sounds good after all these years.
one of my favorite stones songs
One of their early gems!
Classic ! (has to be an instant 10) {#Crown}
sorely under rated here; bumping up

Probably one the first Stones songs I ever heard. Glad to hear it here.

I'm with you. I know they've done good songs post '75, but far fewer than the early days IMHO. Actually, it's caused me to wonder about the influence of Brian Jones and Mick Taylor. Perhaps a tad bit more important than I realized back in the hurley burley days.
