I get out my records
When you go away
When people are talking
I miss what they say

'Cause it all means nothing, my dear
If I can't be holdin' you near
So tell me you love me
'Cause that's all that I need to hear

I sit in my kitchen (George, do the hihats now)
With nothing to eat
With so many friends I
I don't wanna meet

'Cause I don't need music in my ears
I don't need the crowds and the cheers
Oh, just tell me you love me
'Cause that's all that I need to hear

I've been told so many times before
But hearin' it from you means much more
So much more

Reply to my message
And pick up my calls
You see, I wrote you a letter
It was no use at all

Oh, I don't care if you're insincere
Just tell me what I wanna hear
You know where to find me
The place where we lived all these years, oh
And tell me you love me
That's all that I need to hear
Oh, tell me you love me
That's all that I need to hear

Such a wonderful collection of melody and lyrics...
Every time I hear this I think it sounds like Bonnie Raitt covering a Don Henley song, and I mean that in a good way. It feels like rocking back in a favorite chair late at night with a glass of really nice wine.

Nice
Way too much play, this is an average song....
immediately loved it. but, it's being played so much, that i'm getting sick of it. today's PSD day. next time i hear it, maybe it won't be.

This definitely has a 1977-1978 soft rock song style and I like the sense of nostalgia.  Wish more artists would emulate some of those styles rather than strictly catering to contemporary sounds.

I'm not sure emulating soft rock from the late 70's is a good idea. From my perspective the only good thing about such music is it caused such a backlash that we ended up with punk which led to new wave, post-punk, alternative, etc. That said, it appears a lot of people here are enjoying this particular song as well as music from this particular era, so I say "cheers" and enjoy!

Same here, nice atmospheric sound, LLRP!!
We live in Manchester in the UK and in a recent interview Noel Gallagher said he and his son thought The 1975 "were crap"
Well I think he and his son are so wrong..
just beautiful.
I love the distortion in the guitar in the right ear - it is pure perfection in thickening the sound. if I am not mistaken I would say its a UAD compressor
only a 6.9 ?
please bump this up

How brilliant!
And just when you are losing faith in the world, that beauty and comfort are no longer created, along comes this so you can make it another day...

This song is timeless. I thought it was a gem  from the past that I had missed before I started seriously listening to music.
What a sweet song...
love that raspy guitar and the sweet words.

Beautiful little song.
I really like this.
This rolls along nicely.
Love the spoken command in the second verse. Reminds me of "it's just the normal noises..."
