Out in the water with weeds in our hair
Whistling songs that we spun from the air
I saw the shape of a ghost in the waves
Dead as the sea foam, bright as the day
Bright as the day

Move through the summers when we were young
Held to the fire, the way of the sun
Lights on the fog over Bay of Bengal
I turned down and they stayed on
Bright as the day

Out in the backyard, earth in our teeth
Whistling songs that we learned in our sleep
I heard the sound of a ghost in the night
Scraped up dirt and monsoon skies

Over Calcutta, I'm drifting alone
Naked and empty as the day I was born
Held to the fire, a moth in the flame
Dead as the sea foam, bright as the day

at first listen this sounds inconsequential, affected.......even amateurish. if you give it another listen..................it still sounds inconsequential, affected and amateurish.
I was first introduced to them on Cayamo.
To see and hear Darlingside live is a complete treat!
The harmonies really draw you in. Sublime.
Still, always, "awesomely fey." As Jelani said. Just about a year ago.

Timeless harmonies. Thanks for having discovered this tune. :)
had tickets to see these guys, but the 'rona cancelled the show.  I hope to see them soon.

Same here. Well, I bought the ticket, but then could not attend at the last minute. Wish I'd bought a few more, too. To "donate" to this one. Somehow, anyhow.

I like the sentiment, but buying more tickets might not be the best way to do it. Only a tiny part makes it to the artists. Promotion, venue, and The Man all get their cuts. While even The Man deserves to be paid for his efforts, I kinda think if you aren't going to the actual show they don't deserve their cut.

Many artist now have patreon pages or online tip jars.  These go directly to the artists, no middle man.
Had the very great privilege of seeing this amazing band live (front row seat… Not to brag) at The Ark in Ann Arbor, MI last year. They were outstanding.

I agree with other posters here: see them live if at all possible.

And – Again, as with other posters here – thank you RP for introducing me to their (and so much other amazing) music!

🙏
awesomely fey.

Darlingside is but one band that I've seen live as a direct result of RP. Go see them live if you have a chance - they put on great shows.

Par for my rather particular course, giving anything Darlingside an 8, currently. Only so that I can bump it up a notch later. Should the need arise.
Let me second that, go see these guys live, poetdancer wrote:
