Aw man, this goes up to ELEVEN squared! Thanks so much for kickstaring my day RP!!!  Jormaaaaa!  Airplane can do no wrong.
And a tip of the hat to Donovan too.

Maybe it's you who hasn't aged well!

Gotta be careful with this song.

Make you do spinning dervishes

Jorma plays the Rams Head in Annapolis on 4/20. How auspicious the date and it'll be my 67th time seeing him perform.

That does not sound like Jack on bass for sure!

I have no idea why are you getting heat. It's a good observation and I thought of it too. Out of curiosity I want to know who inspired who.
Like sand in your ass crack.
Saw Jorma and Jack play as electric Hot Tuna this past Saturday night in DC, my 66th time seeing them perform. Great show as always. Now to annoy the neighbors with the volume set to 11.
Thanks RP!

That wouldn't surprise me.  Jorma described Casady as a lead guitar player who plays bass.

This is groovy!
its good to remember them as a jam band
as a kid I thought these guys were hopelessly dated, hippy dippys
for some reason I have returned to them
they really were wonderful

The are plenty of musicians who "play creative, free flowing, trippy music" that is not formulaic and allows for experimentation; you just seem to be deliberately unaware of them.

I love how they manage to capture Donovan's distinctive breathy syncopation while infusing it with that ELECTRIC feel of classic JA...

As a 13 year old I spent 8 hours in there with my father and 6 younger siblings waiting for Mom's very-delayed flight from Ireland to arrive. We had driven up from Ohio to pick her up. Back in 1968 give or take a year.

Thanks, Bill.  No one else is playing this.

Indeed.
Saw Donovan in concert a few weeks ago and he played his Fat Angel. While doing so I had the Airplane version playing in my head at the same time. What a track!  Picture the twirlers dancing about in days of old.
Thanks, Bill.  No one else is playing this.
Hohum. Be so consenting to get you addicted to hard drugs.

Trans-love Airways indeed. Spacey. I'm in the mood.

Also FLY "International Lover" by Prince from the 1999 album
Perfect for a Friday afternoon
Pure nostalgia. But the drummer is supposed to set the time, not chase it.
One of my favorite Airplane albums and one of the best songs on it.

Super groovy. Even better than Donovan's version ...{#Heartkiss}

Sorry, no!  I must disagree!  Donovan owns this song and it's one of his best.
Thanks Bill

Ouch my face hurts

My being  is shaped by so much of this music - it just is part of me

must have something to do with the chemicals  {#Shhh}
Is this what they used to build that city on rock and roll?
I can't remember where I got my information but I believe that Balin plays the bass while Casady plays the rhythm guitar on this song. Casady really owns most of this LP.

He still can. Go check out a Hot Tuna show. He and Jack are incredible.
We were so tolerant.  {#Daisy}
Isn't this the racy number from All That Jazz?
Had to turn this one up!

Going to have to find the LP tonight and go for a trip.

Smokey
I was busy with a tricky cooking task when I heard this playing in the other room, wanted to turn it up; sounded to me a lot like Caetano Veloso's trippy exile period. Then I finally checked and found it was even older and trippier JA! These guys sure did TripTunes so well!
Some songs should only be experienced live....this is one of them!!!!! Please no more......ever!!!!!!
This is as good a live recording as it gets...and shows The Airplane at their San Francisco best.
This is a song that is interactive, and expects your attention. You have to be in the right frame of mind. If you are this is pretty excellent.
Far out man.So far out its never coming back!
Kaukonen could bring it furshur!
Because Radio Paradise is so excellent I will forgive this song selection.
not in the mood for that one today
