Which reminds me: a friend of a friend of a friend has written a book set in the Faroes in WWII (Holly Bidgood, The Oystercatcher). I doubt that it's as entrancing and sexy as Eivor's singing, but there aren't many things to have come out of the Faroes (other than the football team which punches above its weight internationally) so I thought it would be worth a mention.

I've visited the Faroe Islands twice (my wife's grandfather is from there). Eivør is very, very popular there.

Used to hear the weather from the Faroe Lighthouse as a kid and have no idea where that was.
Still don't, but Eiver's voice will compel me to go and Google her whereabouts.Progress of a sort.
