Is that you
Your eyes slowly fading?
Is that you
Your mind full of tears?
Is that you
Searching for a good time?
Is that you
Waitin' for all these years?

[Chorus:]
And I hope you're feelin' better
Yes I hope you're feelin' good
Yes I hope you're feelin' better

Is that you?
Look across the ocean
Is that you
Thinkin nothin' is really there?
Is that you
Waiting for the sunshine?
Is that you
When all you see is glare?

[Chorus]

Is that you
Who never saw your baby?
Is that you
Who never had a friend?
Is that you
Movin' to a new town?
Is that you
Will di'monds replace your friends?

[Chorus]

I have been listening to Santana since 1969 or 70.  Amazing band.  Their music never gets old.  Always amazing.

It's incredible how we went from the light doo-wop, crooner fare of American Graffiti to this in just ten years.  From the Glenn Miller band to this in just 25 years.

Many lines of forces coincided. Not to mention strong undercurrents.
GREAT TUNE!!  Is that choo (LOL!)  Thanx RP!

Another Santana song came up a few days back, and one of the commenters complained about, Always the same old noodling (on the guitar). Ahem.... this aint no noodling!

Totally agree. Surprisingly noodleless. Hoping to hear another one like it some day. Must admit that I've auto passed on the Santanic noodling. I guess a taste thing which hasn't developed well over my passed years.
This song does tickle my interest. Has a little Hendrix vibe to it. Might have to check out the early stuff. You never know.
wildly fantastic, has stood the test of time

Prior to RP the only thing I knew about Santana was the couple of Santana songs played repeatedly on FM "rock" radio and as a result, I learned to simply tune Santana out. Thanks to RP I'm learning a little of the Santana's back catalog and understand what the fuss is all about. I'm definitely a fan now, thanks RP!

You can ask me about the back catalog.  I've heard them all and have most of them.  Believe me, you'll never hear Oye Como Va the same way again.  He has taken it to levels seldom heard or seen.   Several of those non-FM tracks are right here on RP, but, for instance, The Promise of a Fisherman or Song for Devadip are not.
<Kiss> <ah-choo!>

That's how Covid spreads.
Anybody old enough to remember the midnight movies that were concert films? Saw one that was Santana live way back in the day. It was awesome. Have since seen them live several times. This still their classic album.
Yeah.  Fuck yeah.
Saw Santana at the Nassau coliseum back in 1973.  Oh those conga players!

High school, fuzz guitar, acid.
Still a powerful album after all these eons.  Clever musicians and thanks again for the feelings that still surface...if only my parents had lived long enough to talk with about why it mattered then and still...lower the volume was the general turn of phrase back when.
I saw them way back in the day at Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City. Carlos was in his guru phase where he wore all white. He walked out and told the crowd, "We will play for you as long as you like."

Then they took us on a journey through the universe. I never heard a band that was that "on" since then.

Nah, come on!
@gregdei. So your  father was Ray Harroun (winner of the inaugural Indianapolis 500 in 1911)?
Greg Rolie is one of a relatively small number of multiple Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees interestingly.  He was inducted with Santana and again for Journey.  I liked both bands' incarnations when he was a member, didn't seem to enjoy them as much when he left.  Never realized it until this came on today.
Izzat chu?

I'm rocking and rolling like the mind-altered college freshman I was 45 years ago!

ridiculous comparison. bumped to a 10.
when you open a set with this song live, you get the attention of the crowd. abraxas is a masterpiece. period. up to a 10.
I'd love to hear some Santana from his jazz-flavoured phase.

Very strange synchronicity this morning. I psd'd from the Neville Bros. to this -- and then I picked up my phone to make a business call. And a guy named Carlos answered in his shop.
Funny how it works sometimes. But I didn't say I hoped he was feeling better.

Every guitar lick in Carlos Santana's repertoire is deployed in this song.

This has always been in my collection, had it when it came out. Latin rock was a revelation.

One of my all time Santana faves.  This cut was the Santana "gateway tune" for me and it still causes aural vibrations to move through my body, like 'lectricity, causin' unnat-chural, alarmin' and primeval movements to overcome my every fiber!

Slammo, that's Rock 'n Roll taking over an 8-year old's impressionable mind and body!  I've been a mess ever since...HAHAHA!!!!

Yes, now I hear it too. I like both very, very much.
Have never heard this before in my life, and it ROCKS! I'm a sucker for Gregg Rolie's voice and any song that features a Hammond B3 organ so prominently.

very nice!
I always considered this the most conventional rock song in that album.  That is no put-down as I love this song and usually repeat it at least once when it comes on from one of my internal sources.
Thought I recognized the voice of Greg Rollie.

Great rock from early Santana. Too bad today's Santana is nothing like this, you have to wonder if all the $$$ is worth losing your musical soul.
Ok, now this is some Santana I can get behind!
I turned on RadioParadise in the middle of this song, heard Greg Rolie and thought "Bill is playing early Journey." It took me a couple of seconds to realize that it was "that band" that he and Neil Schon were in. Great song.
Like breathing, it has always been there for me.  {#Notworthy}

This entire album is near the top of a very big heap. Unique. Santana the band or the guitarist never did another album like it in sound or song. And that album artwork sure caught this 15 year old's eye.

Indeed. And the same artist did Miles Davis' Bitches Brew.

What I've long wondered is, with a showboating Carlos Santana on lead, why did this band also need (pre-Journey) Neal Schon onboard?
