Sleep my friend now I'll watch o'er you
The moon is here and the stars adore you
Close your eyes and you'll sleep just fine
Said my guardian angel once upon a time

Chorus
Sho Heen Sho lo, lu la lo, lu la lo
Sho Heen Sho lo, lu la lo, lu la lo

Why has my angel gone from me
The moon I fear and the stars fall on me
I won't close my eyes 'till the morning light
Oh bring on the sun I cannot rest tonight

Sleep my friend oh I'll watch o'er you
The moon is here and the stars adore you
Close your eyes and sleep tonight
Oh my blessed angel, here again, goodnight

Challenging.  I decided not to give an 8, for sure.  Glad I heard for some reason, tho.
The Barnsley Nightingale sho has sounded better elsetimes.
I like a fair number of Kate Rusby songs. I don't think this is one of them. :\
And that's one person I really didn't expect to hear on RP!!  Great choice Enkay!!

I’m curious about "Sho Heen" (from Sleepless). What does that mean?

Rusby Well, the chorus is from an old Scots Gaelic lullaby that I found in a book. It wasn’t a songbook, but there was this bit of a chorus in there. I’d already started writing this song that was kind of a lullaby, snuggle-down song, and I thought, "I might just nick this and use it in that." So I learned it and spent ages getting the accent just right. Two of the girls in the Poozies speak Gaelic, so when I saw them I ran up going, "Listen to this! I’ve learned a bit of Gaelic. Tell me what it means." But it turned out it doesn’t mean anything. It just means "La, la, la, la. La, la, la, oo-hoo. La, la, la." So that’s me bit of Gaelic that I’ve learned .

Love this one for the ethereal quality of it, one of my absolute faves from Kate.
Plus, this is my first successful upload to RP...woo-hoo!

Highly recommended the soundtrack from the original film "Heartlands", Kate on her best.

Love Kate!
A lovely lady, she has a great stage presence, maybe better live than on CD.

She collects traditional songs, this isn't maybe the best she has ever done, but persevere.
