I heard that you're settled down
That you found a girl and you're married now
I heard that your dreams came true
Guess she gave you things I didn't give to you
Old friend, why are you so shy?
Ain't like you to hold back or hide from the light
I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it
I had hoped you'd see my face
And that you'd be reminded that for me, it isn't over
Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you, too
Don't forget me, I beg
I remember you said
Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead
Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead, yeah
You know how the time flies
Only yesterday was the time of our lives
We were born and raised in a summer haze
Bound by the surprise of our glory days
I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it
I had hoped you'd see my face
And that you'd be reminded that for me, it isn't over
Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you, too
Don't forget me, I beg
I remember you said
Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead, yeah
Nothing compares, no worries or cares
Regrets and mistakes, they're memories made
Who would have known how bittersweet this would taste?
Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you

I try not to let the fact that the image she portrays publicly makes my skin crawl affect what I think of her music - I think I managed, but I still don't like this track. Or any of what I've heard of hers - that voice is dreadful (to me).
I love how slowly Adele has generated her output, which kind of goes well with the fact that these are her songs. I'm even more impressed with the song "easy on me" from her 2021 release "30) - it might be one of the most powerful and simple songs I've heard in the last 20 years.
This one get's an 8 - glad when William plays it - Long Live RP!!

Sorry folks, but there are no points for hating talent, even one so popular.
She has one of the great voices so far this century. If you're not sure, see her live. I wouldn't have gone to see her on my own, but after being pulled to the show (kicking and screaming)... the girl can sing!

Made me look at who/what this was as if I just accidentally slammed the hammer down on my thumb... Amazing how much this song stands out. Is it the over-production?
I hadn't heard Adele on RP until recently. Although she was over exposed in mainstream media, she's definitely a rare talent worthy of acclaim. Thanks RP!
It has a place but not my cup of tea.
Yeah, years and years old now, and I'm not sad it gets played once in awhile...in awhile.
Great voice, writes her own songs, obviously very talented.
I almost liked this the first couple of times I listened, then got very bored very quickly on subsequent occasions.
Now I just want it to stop as soon as it starts. From other RP listeners' comments I can see I'm not alone...
What a strange song - some people absolutely love it, I can't define anything wrong with it, but it has the same effect on me as Chinese water torture!

i just had sex.
There is no question that her voice is great but the song is a real snooze fest! A bit too formulaic.
I very rarely dislike strongly the music on RP, but this is an exception. Massively over played over here, and there's something about her voice that really makes my skin crawl...rather like the late (and unlamented, by me), Whitney Houston. Thanks for the PSD button, Bill!

SNL did a great skit not long ago about this song, with everyone standing around and sobbing.

Maybe it's just a thing called "style."
What I find so grating is the little splatting squeaks she puts just before each of the high notes. It's a lot like the squeaking some guitarists make with the left hand as they move from chord to chord. I find it really affected and hard to listen to. A cheap way of getting pathos into the voice. And it's a popular sound now among female singers.

She could do with putting a little sensitivity into her singing on this.
Chill. It's just a song

There was a "Later with Jools Holand" episode this weekend that looked back on new/young acts of the past season.
He saved the best for last: Adele singing this live about a year ago.
A truly excellent performance.
Fantastic.
Probably better than the studio version.
Jools seemed proud when announcing her.
Ah, here is the video (without the looking-back Jools).

Sorry, this sounds too much like something off of American Idol. Definitely not what I come to RP for.
When she hits those high notes, you can hear the strain on her voice. No wonder she just had to cancel her U.S. tour for the second time (due to vocal cord damage).

Adele is a breath of fresh air in that environment. Yes she's "commercial", but her work elevates rather than degrades. That alone is worth something.

Too much hype, I don't feel any emotion in her voice.

this chick can sing.
i could have written this. not nearly sang it like this, but still...
Have you heard the dance remix of this yet? Yeah, dance remix. I couldn't believe it either. It's horrible.
The lyrics in this song move me soooo much. Yeah, it's a "break-up" song, but the way she sings it is so moving. I always belt it out in my car and tear up in the last verse.
I really don't get what the fuss is about. The lyrics to this are no deeper than the average pop-song... at least Rolling in the Deep has a half-decent tune...
If she's still singing in, say, 30 years, I bet she'll be phenomenal. By then she should have the life experience to put the emotions behind her amazing voice.
I have chiken skin...so much moving
Too much of a bad thing...
The aural equivalent of paint-by-numbers.
Overplay here on the local stations - no rating at this time. Time will tell
annoying...
4 ——- > 3
I like her but she is played in every grocery store/shopping mall repeatedly. Too much of a good thing... I prefer KT
Obviously an amazing voice, but it makes me wish I could hear Amy Winehouse sing this song. We wouldn't hear those high notes but we'd hear some real emotion.
Overwraught delivery to my ears...
The first time I heard this song, I was immediately captured by her strength in her voice and her passion and I bet it was borne from a true-life situation, which a lot of song writers/singers draw from, personal experience.
-By Groogrux's lovely wife

I'll rate it a 10 for my Lovely Wife (8 for me).

Great CD. I bought it because of Radio Paradise. She's an amazingly talented singer who is deeply passionate about her songs.
Talented obviously, but a little over dramatic and def. trying too hard..kind of boring lyrically...next
Talented, booooorrrrriiiiiinnnnnggggg, AND monotonous.
Doesn't belong on RP...perfect for drone radio.

I've heard other songs by her, but I always feel like she's trying too hard. I'd love to hear her do something slow, smoky, and requiring less amped-out vocals. She has a great voice - I think she should be herself instead of competing with the likes of the "flavor of the day." Just my opinion.
21 years old?
This kind of music would normally be so far off my radar....
But I think this might be the most talented person to come along in years.
Simply stunning.
I would have her babies.

I am really beginning to understand the powerful draw of Adele. This is the very first time I have heard this track and I am completely blown away. It is definitely not your run-of-the-mill pop song and speaks well to the diversity and range of this promising young artist. I am really looking forward to seeing her expand her repertoire into other genres something like Linda Ronstadt has done.
I was lucky and managed to get tickets for her show earlier this year in Paradiso in Amsterdam. Great gig, great voice, lovely and funny girl. She brought the house down. But I do not have to hear her twice an hour, every hour, of every day like on some radio stations over here. So I turn to Radio Paradise, and guess what.... Just kidding
Saw a magnificent version of this on video flying Virgin Atlantic to Florida a few weeks ago:

The CD version heard here pales in comparison to the way she sings this now. By staying within her natural range, it's much more powerful and no longer whiny. She sang it at the Brit Awards and knocked it out of the park.Agreed. Hoping to see this one live at the Greek Theater Berkeley coming up in August!

Was given this CD as a gift. The majority of the songs follow this same context of lost loves. Lyrics to this are really lovely, but it seems like she's wandering a little to far out of her range on some notes. Nonetheless, she's got a fantastic voice & I look forward to hearing more from her.

She has a technically good voice, so does Celine Dion and Mariah Carey though; pop drivel.
Oustanding follow up to Rolling In The Deep.
It's pretty much a given that she wins every grammy possible with this album, right? I've heard two tracks... and it's in a different league than every other piece of pop music in the universe right now.
