Satisfaction oozes from her pores
She keeps rings on her fingers, marble on her floor
Cocaine in her dresser, bars on her door
She keeps her back against the wall
She keeps her back against the wall
So I say
I say welcome, welcome to the boomtown
Pick a habit, we got plenty to go around
Welcome, welcome to the boomtown
All that money makes such a succulent sound
Welcome to the boomtown
Handsome Kevin got a little off track
Took a year off from college and he never went back
Now he smokes much too much, got a permanent hack
Deals dope out of Denny's, keeps a table in the back
He always listens to the ground
Always listens to the ground
So I say
I say welcome, welcome to the boomtown
Pick a habit, we got plenty to go around
Welcome, welcome to the boomtown
All that money makes such a succulent sound
Welcome to the boomtown
Well, the ambulance arrived too late
I guess she didn't want to wait
So I say
I say welcome, welcome to the boomtown
Pick a habit, we got plenty to go around
Welcome, welcome to the boomtown
All that money makes such a succulent sound
Welcome to the boomtown
Welcome to the boomtown
Welcome to the boomtown
Welcome to the boomtown
looks like they were busted up laughing
Ha! I always thought he was singing that as well!
"Midnight Blue" is not a bad tune, but man, I don't know if I could listen to it nonstop.
"All that money makes such a succulent sound"
Pretty much sums up the decade for me.
Not to get political but Ronald Reagan did a good job of selling the dream and more than a few of us bought it.
Yes, two other tracks from the Boomtown album charted:
"Swallowed by the Cracks"
"Ain't So Easy"
RP also plays the cut "Being Alone Together"
Wiki says in 2016 they were reported to be working on a 2nd album.
It's both! Great memories and just great music for our present day as well. Time to dance, spin and twirl.
We got plenty to go around"
Pretty much sums up the 80's for me.
And the lyrics. Perfect summation of the 80s. Gather around kids, let me tell you about a ridiculous decade called the 80s.

Nice!
Agree. Soundtrack to biking along the coast of West Australia for me…

Thirds. We probably heard it too much back then. It probably also sounded a lot like other 80s pop songs...
Ditto!!!

Good call, RP. Good vibes from a distant time and adventures in far off Australia for me…
Can you really deal dope out of a back table at Denny's anymore?
i heard this on the radio at work and couldn't believe they were playing something saying, "welcome to the poontang"! when i listened for context, i heard "we got plenty to go around" and "all that muff makes such a succulent sound". craziest song ever!

Wow, haven't heard this one in a long time — possibly not since the 80s. Kinda like it.
Thanks for R.P.
Please listen the track 4 ( it's my preference)
Regards
I hope I'm not going crazy... I'm hearing Bach's Prelude in C during the verses.
You're the best...
I remember that percussionist too...completely surrounded by bongos, drums, bells, etc. She was great.
David Baerwald has (or used to have not long ago) a fairly active solo career....tours around a lot...I've seen him in Austin several times....he's the one with this GREAT voice!!!
Actually David Baerwald (the one in the foreground) released a few really good solo albums, and was a founding member of Sheryl Crow's 'Tuesday Night Music Club"—-although she appears to have stiffed them after she got big.
I saw these guys play at the old Bottom Line in Greenwich Village( a shame that it closed)....they were very good.
EDIT: I was wrong. Baerwald released a solo after this ... Bedtime Stories. THAT was incredible. Can't find it. Must.
EDIT II: It's not on iTunes. Drat. Songs called "Stranger" and "All for You" from that album. Killer.
I've seen it now and again in used bins. If you really want it, that auction site is lousy with them, cheap.
Love it!
after the one hit. . . . . .

Nobody captured the despair of the’80s like these guys. Which makes the straight line from them to Sheryl Crow so fascinating.
Yes ! and the Moulin Rouge soundtrack!
