Breathing in the night
There's nothing else I'm needing now
The wind is at my side
And so are you
And together we will rise

Above all these word and promises we couldn't keep
Together we will fly above it all
But sometimes we will fall
From the light
But it shines on us tonight
And together we will rise
And together we will rise

And surely it's a sign now,
That everything's in tune to some kind of higher plan
Surely it's a sign
That you were right
And there's the secret line
That we've been denied
But we're crossing it tonight
And together we will rise
And together we will rise

Sometimes we will fall
From the light
But it shines on us tonight
And together we will rise

Pass this line
That we're crossing here tonight
But together we will rise
And together we will rise
We will rise, we will rise

definitely an interesting song...however a little reminicent of Jeff Buckley.

Fun fact: Mr Buckley was a roadie for the Frames for a short time.
The Devlins followed by The Frames?

I'm good with that...
i've enjoyed a lot of Mr Hansard's music but this one falls  into a 'drama' mode I'm not all that fond of. Similar to the "Muse" mood. Not a fan but am open to hearing others off this album.

Google Hansard (Swell Season) playing "Buzzin' Fly".  It's great.

I get it.  It's plaintive.
Glenn Hansard - bloody massive talent! And he was a commitment!!!
Big 'ol yawn for me  ,  all sounds the same   not a fan of Irish music  and their boat building skills leave a lot to be desired as well.
gotta love that skip button

I don't know you, but I am filled with jealousy. Especially because I missed a show when he was touring with Eddie Vedder and his uke. Eddie's uke. I don't know what Glen had. Because I wasn't at the show. Now I'm sad again.

Frames : Rise following Devlins : Waiting
Loving your Dublin-centric set this morning Bill!
I am killing time (45 min) while waiting for a radiation solution to circulate to my organs /for a cat scan. Good thing I brought my ear phones and good ole Radio Paradise cache files with me in zee I phone . Time will pass quickly, with R.P. music, to calm my restless soul.

or a bid of old Radiohead
Respirando durante a noite
Não há mais nada eu preciso agora
O vento está ao meu lado
E você também
E juntos vamos subir

Acima de todas essas palavras
E promessas que não poderíamos manter
Juntos vamos voar acima de tudo
Mas às vezes vamos cair
Da luz
Mas ela brilha sobre nós essa noite
E juntos vamos subir

MARAVILHOSA
Don't know this band. The voice reminds me of the Swedish band "Pain of salvation" but this is not a band played on RP. Anyway, I like this
on an Irish roll Bill!!! The Frames had THE best live shows back in the days, oh my god they were electric.
Love this, never heard it before. I hope it crosses my path again on RP.
Completely reminds me of young Buckley ... in some regards anyway.
Is that you, Icarus?

Absolutely, my friend.  Superb material for my 'flu-ridden ears today.  9 from me, too.
Sound and fury, signifying little or nothing.

Meh.
I've heard Glen Hansard before and been thrilled - but apparently I've been sheltered from The Frames..
My ears have been forever opened... I cannot turn back now. Thanks Bill! {#Music}

First time hearing for me. Love Glen Hansard's passionate voice.

nice strings
fuckin awesome      10    (in an arty way love the album cover image too)
Wow.  This is great.  I'm in a rockin' mood, and while this isn't really that, it just works!
Love those Irishmen.
MUSIC - BIG TIME!
Enjoying it.

Once, I saw the Frames from The Commitments. What a Swell Season that was....
Great song, Great band!
I'd say Marianne Faithful meets Tim Buckley's arrangers.

Good song.  Bonus point, maybe 2, for scorching vocals.

Love Glen Hansard.

Me too, love him.  If you get a chance to see the Frames live, jump on it.  Best live band ever.

Saw Glen the night before last, solo acoustic, right here on Cape Cod. Highly recommended, if you ever get a chance to see him like that. His voice is exquisite, can't think of anything he can't do. Highlights were a gorgeous drop d cover of Tim Buckley's, " Buzzin' Fly," and a couple of verses of, " Into The Mystic."

Stunning talent!
So haunting, so beautiful... Almost scary...
Really like the vocals
This is a 9-er.
Wow first time hearing this....love it. So smokey sounding.
They played this song at the end of a Castle episode.

Absolutely. This CD stayed in my player the entire first week. I still love it.

It is a powerful song... but it makes me giggle. I had a neighbor who sang (a bit over the top like this) and played guitar in various spots around the city. He would ask me to sit and listen to him play at home. I could never keep a straight face.
Holy $#!+

that song is awesome.

immediate 9.

buying it tonight. it'll be a 10 in the morning

They had one of the best live performances I've ever been too — not a breath heard during this song...
Sounded Buckley-esque to me.  I like that fact more than some of the other commenters.  Not as good as Buckley, and not a rip-off either.  I think Hansard is good in all his various projects, and I liked this tune enough to log in and comment instead of letting it "just go by"

I also thought Buckley but for me that's high praise rather than a slagging off.  Oh and Hanio Ben Harpers latest album has some great songs with him rocking out.

Ben Harper needs to sing like this.  At least occasionally.

So thematically the album is a bit sad. I still think there is an underlying theme of hope, especially in this song.

I was just thinking the same thing.

I *wish* I would have heard this song.  I heard Public Image Limited's "Rise" earlier today, great song.  Does anyone know if they are the same song?
Such a good band- talent's go way past Once
definitely went and saw Once in theatres, but the sound quality was so bad we couldn't understand a word they said outside of liberal usage of the word f*ck, {#Biggrin} still really enjoyed the movie, was better when we watched it again with subtitles.  Love Glen's voice! (and marketa irglova's for that matter, but thats a little off subject)

Wow, this is so different from his acoustic version of the song.
Shades of Marianne Faithful in his voice, I like.

Just saw "Once". Decent movie. For once, a movie set in Ireland that doesn't have everyone saying "f##k sake" every other word.

I wouldn't necessarily call their work, "enjoyable", but I like it for some reason. As for Hansard, he's got an album in him that should be called "Songs for the Needy."

Sounds like Tom Baxter ripped off this song for his song Skybound.

There's a good reason for that...
What a lot of noise and fuss about a shag. Just get on with it, man!
brimming with emotion
Wow, shades of Damien Rice all over that.

Not all the time, but definitely sometimes. I noticed that particularly on a couple of songs from the soundtrack to "Once".

Forgive me, o annoyed one, for voicing my opinion. But you know what? I'm still going to keep using the word regardless of what you think...
