This guy sure does have a bunch of crap. He must be a major packrat. My question is - what on earth is a \"strangling hook\" and why does he need one?

good vocalist... great bass-work... nice licks... so how come I was ready for it to be done halfway through? Hm.

Just how much more? Because it's not working no matter how much Bill plays.
This song reminds me of Rocky Horror Picture Show. .

The Scabs at Liberty Lunch (rip), now that was something else!
He still does Monday nights at the Saxon Pub, I think it's the LonelyLand incarnation. I could never figure out why The Ugly Americans could not BUY a gig, but the Scabs were the hottest thing since August asphalt. Fame is a fickle, fleeting thing... c.
good grove, man

Not hardly. Bob fronted Joe Rockhead, The Ugly Americans, The Scabs, and now is fronting a band called Bluegrass Massacree. His styles run the gamut. Ugly Americans and The Scabs had killer horn sections, ripping out some pretty funky stuff. This is by far his most 'conventional' sounding tune. He's been doing a regular Monday night gig at The Saxon Pub for many years, going back to when Sandra Bullock would show up occasionally. c.

'Don't Be So Stingy (with your Pingy)' is one of the few printable song titles. Oddly enough, women totally LOVE him. He's kind of a jerk but an amazing talent. c.
Is Arena Rock Making A Come Back?
Biscuits and gravy are great.
And nothing like using a lost Norman Rockwell masterpiece as the album cover...
I am a big Bob fan and although this album doesn't show off his own multitude of eclectic styles, it is a great straight up rock album. My fav off of it is Game Plan, with Mudhouse as a close second.
This must be the 5th or 6th time I've listened to Bob doing his rap. It has grown on me sort of like a festering carbuncle ripe and tender, full of pus, waiting for that magic moment when it is pierced and the blessed relief comes forth in one noxious gush of putrescent spew. Ah, the imagery of this song and his others. 'scuse me while I squeeze ....
Never would have figured that out. cptbuz wrote:

pretty obnoxious
I nominate this song for the best use of the "F" word in any song I've ever heard. Great rootsy sound with crisp harmonies. Love it.

Agree. You can pretty much judge that one by the cover. Can't _dis_like it though. ed: this really grew on me

Yeah, just when you think you are being lulled into a state of comfortable near brain death some good music comes on. It's hard not to be letdown after REM sucks the life out of the set. You'll be OK.
I can't believe that moby gets a 7 and this song gets a 5 ... classic ... this song isn't fantastic, but it rocks ... losen up people ... you're taking this eclectic thing too far.
to early for Bob Schneider
Way too repetitive
I hear a little bit of "Low" in this...
I remember Bobby Schneider from when I was in school in University of Maryland-Munich Campus (In Germany)....... He was this kid with Vans sneakers that played "blues" piano and sang little ditties....

Could have sworn this was Michael Franti. Whatever. Not a bad groove or anything, it's just not wearing well.

Nothing too interesting going on here. Sounds like a 3rd rate bar band.
Didn't like this before*. Somehow, like it now. A raucous 8. *maybe taken aback by the bizarre cover art...
From REM to these guys. What a let-down.

GIVE 'ER !!!
Yeah...it is a little cliche...but I still kinda like it. The chord progression is straight out of Lenny Kravitz Let Love Rule. In fact, from a distance that's what I thought was playing. So maybe I just like Lenny Kravitz!
yeah BOB! love him at most any hour of any day... Though this is not my favorite of Bob.
i like his voice. i like the background vocals. i like the nasty lead guitar. i like the total package. folks, it's all been done before. if you can't be with the one you love (to hear), love the one you're with (on radio paradise. right now).
The guy's good, but this chord progression and melody have been done before. In fact, it's cliché. So, it deserves a 2. I'd like to hear other material from this artist.
This is the sort of 3 chord stuff that may be fun in a club on Friday night, but I wouldn't make an effort to download or buy.
Second time I've heard this song and both times I wondered if Billy Gibbons had gone solo.
Good stuff! Thanks Bill. And if you found the occassional MF offensive, you'd really twist up on his old alter-ego band the Scabs. Something about trying to put a raw oyster into a parking meter...
Thought it was RHCP for a minute. Good tune

The only exposure I've had to Bob is from a friend of mine who plays him constantly and raves about how great he is--then he puts on some song where he sings about how women are coke whores and then has to interject "motherfukkin" every 4-5 words. The 2 songs I've heard here on RP are pretty good though. Way unlike anything I'd heard from Schneider before. Did he decide that writing novelty potty humor songs wasn't the right strategy if he wants people to listen to his music? //FWIW...those songs don't really offend me as much as they bore me. Sophmoric potty humor will only take you so far.
I'm really liking this guy.
Woo hoo!! New Bob!! Been waiting for this one... but in the mean time - More BOB, please
I'd kind of fallen away from Mr Schneider since his first 2 albums. I really have to catch up :)
New cut to me. Bob is the sheeeeet! See him live if ya can! Thanks again RP.
Bob is amazing. His live performances are stellar!!
talented AND cute. he can dance down a bar like nobody's business.

Yay...more Bob! That's 2 days in a row!! And I really like this track better than Flowerparts!! Now if i can figure out how to properly rip the songs I've got to get some tracks off "I'm Good Now" on here!
I like it. Nuff said?
Wooo hooo new Bobber!!!!!!! I first saw him on Austin City Limits. I started following his stuff, then I got a chance to hear him at the Saxon Pub in Austin when I was there on b'iness. Sweeeet. About a half hour after the show you could get 2 CD's with pretty much the entire set from that night. The best thing about getting the CD's was actually being able to hear him and the band.
