You went off the river
Smoke stacks fade to blind
This town's my own, ridin'free and alone
And I'm looking back
Maybe I know some people
Maybe I break some rules
But this is the street, I've got to compete
Baby, I ain't no fool

*So I take a little bad with the good
It ain't just black and white
(It still ain't black and white)
You've got to deal with the real
Woo, living on the edge of the night

Every wild desire
Beckons from the dark
I've made my bed but I can't risk my head
While I still swim with sharks
Everyone needs something
Sometimes they don't know why
But so much good's been misunderstood
In the blink of the eye

(Repeat *)

You say that you don't like it
Or maybe it's just my life
So you live yours and I'll keep mine
Rolling like a wheel through the city
Living on the edge of the night
And when the black rain's down
In this cold gray town
I'll be waiting
Waiting at the edge of the night
Woo, living on the edge of the night
Woo, living on the edge of the night

That's ok, I did it for you. Iggy's highly over-rated. I know I sound very un-cool for saying that, but there you have it.
Clearly, you've been wearing your cheesehead too tight.

At the Smokinggun.com, there's a very funny concert rider for Iggy Pop.(click here)

Oh my gosh this sucks. Not "sucko-barfo" sucks, but pretty hard in its own way... I think I much prefer the older Iggy stuff.
Amen and pass the peanut butter.
I get it, this is like a parody, right?
This is a good song and I like it. I am Iggy ignorant but to me this is great sounding.
Odd that Billy Idol copied Iggy and on this track, Ig's copying Idol. I wonder if it's an intentional parody? Even the title smacks of some silly Billy Idool song.

Have you listened to Raw Power?!? He was a true pioneer who unforetunately had many lesser immitations follow him.

If it weren't the IG, I'd give it a 1.
Yeah, what was going on with this one?? Is the rest of this album this mediocre?

I'm sorry, I needed to drop this from a 2 to a 1, because the lyrics just pushed it over the edge, and during the "chorus", I feel like Meatloaf should be singing instead. Not cool, man, not cool.
I was going to mention the lyrics too. "Livin' on the edge of the night"?

Love the album cover, BTW.
The artwork is by Charles Burns, a renowned independent comic book artist.

Suddenly it becomes crystal clear who Billy Idol was copying all those years...
I totally agree. Oddly enough, this one is as generic as any Idol cut you can think of.

I'm getting a BILLY IDOl thing going there.

I'll never look at Iggy the same way again.

Nice upload, thanks. What about "Candy" from the same album? That one has Kate Pierson, right? Love the album cover, BTW.

Good to hear something other than Lust for Life. This is nice.
Yeah - thought I recognized the voice, and then I was surprised, having not particularly liked previous Iggy songs I've heard.
