what is this gorgeous piece of music and is there more from him on RP?

This is an amazing composition. Are there any records of Dave Brubeck performing it himself? Not that this recording isn't excellent.

RP has ONLY 1 TUNE by him on the PLAYLIST. PLEASE ADD MORE TUNES. Thank You!

Exceptional!! The more I hear this tune, the more I like it. Thank you RP!

Wasn't the beginning of this used in the film "Baby Driver?" When sitting in the room and imitating the piano on the table in the room of criminals...? And Great tune!

AMAZING!!! I never heard of him before. Thank You RP!
Straight after Take Five, played by Carnival 99. Brilliant.
Instant joy! Smitten.

Get a Mario video game soundtrack vibe off of this.

That film is "The Thomas Crown Affair" of 1999. AFAIK it's a remake.
I can't find any reference to this (later) version or to Brubeck's original for this film.
You were very probably thinking of the excellent "Sinnerman" by Nina Simone, which RP also plays. It's in the key scene near the end, and on YouTube.

Isn't this in that art thief movie with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo?

That man is a crazy cat. That damn time with the hand clapping. Drive ya nuts.
Great tune! This one is going in the library.
They should play this instead of a fire alarm to help people escape a burning building.
Enough Brubeck covers. Just. Play. Brubeck.

That's for sure. I think Mr. Brubeck was more successful than anyone in bringing the odd times to the masses, though.

Wynton Mareselis did/does a live jazz show for kids and his band covered this and he pauses to explain it to the kids It really cool.

How comes that nobody except Dave Brubeck composes using these stunning rhythms?
Ok, except for Nova Nova's "Tones" which is 11/4.

Har! I enjoyed that.
As usual, I applaud your selection of 'unusual' covers ...
I've heard this dozens of times here at RP and I never tire of it. He's got serious ability.

I still like Dave Brubecks version better...This is still pretty darn good though.

I totally agree, Brubecks original always seemed like a means to show off how he could play with time signatures. this version has a real sense of fun to it.......I have to check out this cd and this band...
This really was wonderful.
(Not sure that following it with the Flogging Molly - Requiem For A Dying Song really worked though...)
spectacular

Love this take on Brubeck!
Love the title! Very fitting!
Delightful, and certainly unsquare.

It's like the Disney/Broadway/Muzak bastardization of Brubeck's classic.
Hooked On Classics, anyone?
Roll over, Art Tatum!
Tight man, tight.

Bought this album. Very good mix of jazzy / instrumental arrangements.
This is definitely the most exciting and fast paced, but his skill shows through out.
So Magicaltrevor, where did the cow go?

Great groove to this one, muchas gracias.
They played a version of this song on Captain Kangaroo in the 1960s, with someone dressed in all black but white gloves, clapping to it. I fell in love with it then.
Wow! Fab.
This is a really FUN take on Brubeck!

Now that was fun! Went to their website to get more information and they have a video cartoon of a song that tells the story of how their gig van was stolen and the ensuing mayhem. Hehe... quite amusing... Think I'll be picking this one up. Kinda like Ben Folds Five meets the horn section from Madness.
Good information on this fellow at Wikipedia. He was born in 1980. He recorded this piece when he was 24. Sheesh.
Ok, that was friggin' INSANE!!!
Sounds like its from the sound track of a 1970's Columobo episode but I kind of like it :)
Dave
No more meth for Paddy...
Wow! That is some hot piano playing.
That's got to be two pianos, right?
nice
Not a fan of this genre but that was good.
Isn't this on the soundtrack to an episode of Pee Wee's Playhouse?
Damn! I imagine there was a team of firefighters standing by to douse the piano afterwards.
8 for content, 10 for energy. It's a 9! =)
Wow! I have to hear more...does the rest of the album sound like this?
That was truly annoying!
It's hard not to smile when hearing this.
tapping along gave me heart palpitations!
no words needed......10!!!!!
Hot fingers!
I love brubeck's version, but this one's got swaang!
This piece never fails to make me smile.
Cool cool song. Hooked me first time I heard it, went to their website and dl'd it - played it for a week straight.
Then I heard it as a theme song on a CBC show here in Toronto. Very toetappity...
BTW, saw Brubeck close the MTL Jazz festival - that guy is still kicking it!
Pretty good chops...
This is cool
Good CD, too.
Not that I want to hear this all the time but it's a great diversion from the ordinary
This is just dreadful. Am I caught in Willy Wonka's Toy factory?
Aaaah that got me going!!!! Who needs caffeine....
Sounds like something from a Sonic the Hedgehog game. Maybe a casino stage.

This is the intro to one of the CBC radio 1 programs... I can't remember which one though. Catchy tune for sure.
What a pianist!!! Thanks, Bill!
You need to stop playing music that I end up buying on my lunch hour. 5 albums this week.
I mean I am supporting RP so they can get me to spend money on CDs. What is going on.
Cool, daddio!
RP does it again, so much new music, so little time :-)
Pretty good, but still much prefer Brubeck's origianl.
W000t! I was thinkinng about this earlier today.
Yowzah! Wow.... those guys can play. Very very cool. Play it again Sam.... or, Bill.
That's the kind of set I tune in to RP for.
My toes were a'tapping.
These guys, all the time.
Also RP , try some Michael Kaeshammer, an extremely talented pianist and singer with a style that weaves through blues, boogie-woogie, pop and jazz. Impossible to sit still listening to him! kaeshammer.com
