ain't no use to sit an wonder why, babe
if you don't know by now
oh now ain't no use to sit and wonder why
it won't ever do somehow
oh when your rooster crows at the break of dawn
look out your window and know i'll be gone
oh you're the reason i'm travelin on
dont think twice, it's alright
there ain't no use in turnin on your light, babe
the light i've never known
oh now it ain't no use in turnin on your light, babe
i'm on the dark side of the road
oh now i'm thinkin and i'm wonderin, walkin down the road
oh i once loved a man of child i am told
oh i gave him my heart, but he wanted my soul
don't think twice, it's alright
there ain't no use in callin out my name, boy
like you never done before
oh now ain't no use in callin out my name now
cause i can't hear anymore
oh i wish there was something you might do or say
oh to try to make me change my mind and stay
oh but we never did too much talkin anyways
don't think twice, it's alright
so long, honey baby
where i'm bound, i can't tell
oh but good-bye is too good a word now
so i'll just say fare-thee-well
oh now i ain't sayin that you treated me unkind
oh you coulda done better, but oh i don't mind
oh you just kinda wasted all of my precious time
don't think twice, it's alright
oh you just kinda wasted all of my precious time

Tedeschi is an Italian family name, meaning "Germans". By the way, it's my family name as well.

More Susan Tedeschi and Tedeschi Trucks band please!
I've always loved Bob Dylan, but with each passing year, the music just gets greater and deeper--and this version helps me to appreciate it even more. I think people will be listening to his stuff for a long, long time.

Check out the live version with TT band if you get a chance. It's even better than this awesome version.

Effortless singers can really be boring. Probably why I don't enjoy any of those singing competition shows on TV.
I'm also not a fan of singers who shout out a note before the lyric, like this one does on just about every verse: "Ohhhh, don't think twice, Ohhhh, it's all right "
I love Susan's voice. It reminds me of Bonnie's. It's a pretty good cover. As someone said, "Her singing on this sounds effortless", and there's the rub. It's missing that added "dimension" that only Dylan gives his songs.

One of the few vocalists that can just make me break down and cry. I can't listen to her cover of "Angel from Montgomery" without turning into a puddle of goo.

I like Susan’s version better than the original.
She's got such great pipes but doesn't manage to convey the feeling of this song.
Summer 2019 SPAC. TTB played this live. Bliss. Best concert experience of the last few years.
Great album cover! Loves me some smirk! I feel compelled to get this on vinyl and hang the cover on the wall!
EDIT: Damn! Amazon does not have the album on vinyl!

I'm from Russia. City Of Magnitogorsk. Radio Paradise is the best in the world. Thank you.
Better than the original
As a huge Dylan fan and typically a big fan of covers of his songs, this one is leaving me a little flat.
I look forward to more listens.
In the meantime, like buckshot, I have given it a tepid 6.

As a huge Bob fan (and therefore very easily horrified by terrible covers of his songs), I have to say I actually quite like this one. I rated it a 6.

In light of all the moaning about Dylan's voice every time his songs are played, this version shows why his singing adds a dimension not achieved on most covers.

This one makes me cry. Superb cover.
Love Susan, grew up with her family in and around Boston. Ironically we ended up at the same music school (Berklee). She graduated, I did not. Life lesson learned ;-}

Whose songs have better covers - whose songs are simply more “coverable” than The Great One?
gave me chills, and a lump in the gullet,
sweetness
when a song does that

A nice cover, bring a classic to a new audience.
French Fried Taters an' mustard! Ummmhhhhuuummm Susan...Rocks!
Great for the start of the day here in rural UK, as we are trying to see where all the pieces of our life before COVID has scattered to
She did Dylan proud with that version,,,,Very Nice..

I’ll give this one to bob. Always one of my favorites and always brings a big smile. This one just misses the mood.
Although to my ears somehow in this version the song loses its "pace" and flow, which is what makes it even greater (apart from the fabolous lyrics), it is still a good effort.

I'll agree with you in sentiment, as a cover of a breakup song this one seems to completely miss the mark. On the other hand, this is a good example of what a 'good' singing voice can do to a song that shouldn't be 'pretty' - so there's that too. I'll go with a 4 rating on this one....Long Live RP and all the decisions BnR make on what to play!!
Pardon, this is the worst cover from a professional artist I ever heard. She didn't make it her song. She doesn't tell the story of someone really leaving with her .voice. And this "heavenly harmonic" music accompagnying.! She really can do better. My first rated one in years of listening to Radio Paradise.

She has managed to make me forget the Dylan version. Great cover.

She is really awesome with the Tedeschi Trucks Band, a band formed with her husband, Derek Trucks.

Under rated, she has a voice, can belt out, I like her version.
There is nothing wrong with this cover in my book. The first time I heard it, I bought the CD. I bet even Bob would say he liked it, if you could ever get a straight answer out of him.

Her voice gets to me, in a good way.
Looking forward to seeing her in Austin...the lady packs quite a punch. I saw her some years ago in upstate New York and everybody left there amazed. Likeable tune certainly.
I was blessed to see Susan do this song live in May with the Allman Bros., and onstage, and I got to meet her and everyone else in the band. After she did this song, the sound guy Carl handed me a piece of paper It was the set list, and Susan autograhed it next to the song.
What a night. I will never forget it.
thanks for playing it RP!

I saw her on Austin City Limits and she can REALLY sing. I've always wondered why she doesn't have more exposure. She does remind me a little of Bonnie Raitt. Maybe she just needs to find her own true voice/style but I think she has some talent to share with the world. Nice to hear! Thanks RP!
I've been following her career for a couple of years now and your right she sounds exactly like a younger Bonnie Raitt.
I saw her on Austin City Limits too and she was even better than I though she'd be.
I heard that she opened for Bob Dylan at the amphitheater up in Mountainview.

My biggest complaint about Tedeschi - though I truly love her voice - is that she overuses the word "oh" to the point where it's truly grating.
You got that right! She drags that out in almost all her songs, makes her unlistenable.
I kept waiting for the bit where it goes "I'm the train they call the city of New Orleans" :)
I don't say this often (usually any kind of cover is an improvement on a Bob Dylan track), but I like Dylan's version better. This just sounds bland.
Been a fan of Tedeschi since I heard her working at Borders 5+ years ago. Great cover tune, but y'all should play some of her original stuff.

Good thing I scrolled down before I wrote my comment...this is EXACTLY what I was thinking.
As an original song, it would get a 5. As yet an other mediocre cover of a great Bob Dylan song, 2 is closer to the mark.
Maybe? Come on. Take a stand one way or th'other...

:headshake: She sounds like she's trying way too hard to find some soul and with all her trying, its lost.
Not heard of her before, but this is a very nice version of this. Thanks to whomever uploaded.

Thank you, I was just about to say that myself and saw your comment. Yes the Ooooh or Woooe or whatever is overdone. She does it on most of her songs very annoying stylisticly.
Fashionable or not I like that.
I'm usually dubious about Bob covers as he does so many himself.
Nice, but I'd like to hear her tackle some other Dylan songs. It's hard to go wrong with this one.

Might be interested in Tedeschi, Martin, & Wood.
This is actually a pretty cool version of this song. Me likee! :)

Alright! Susan Tedeschi! This CD is very good - great Bluesy stuff with a fantastic voice. She really reminds me of what Bonnie Raitt USED to be in the early days. Way to go Bill - thanks for playing her stuff!
Very similar easy style and intonation -- lovin' it.
