if you get a chance to see bonneville live, take it. i saw him once with no band, and it was cool. just him, his guitar, harmonica and a wooden cutting board mic'd to amplify his toe tappin' ... a genuine rhythmic treat.
Agreed, he is a solid workman live, genuine, unpretentious, good tunes for driving down Highway 93
I think he sounds more like Chris Rea or a tobacco free Cohen.

I saw Ray play harp and guitar backup for someone (can't remember, and they were no great shakes) at the Strawberry Music fest 10 years ago. He was so good as a backup, they invited him to do a small tweener (in between set). He calls his stuff greasy folk. I've got a few discs and they're great. He's canadian, and has numberous Juno awards. I'd listen to him anytime.
Bobesque and Markesque.
...resting on the bottom...
Having everything Dire Straights/MK have done, I did not mistake it for MK, but noted the similarity. Not having any Dylan, I mistook it for him. Any way you mistake it, I likes it.
This is nice and chill.
makes me think of a cross between MK and dylan - i like it.
nice laid back groove... MK comparisons are on targert... nice..
Yep, I thought it *was* MK, initially. And I'm in the "I like MK" camp, so that means you can play Ray and Mark anytime you like. Personally, i find it hard to get OD'd on Knopfler, so I don't take an issue with this.
Now Leonard Cohen, *that's* another story!

Agreed. I bet this guy gets mixed up with Knopfler and is fodder for all those people who say there's too much Knopfler on RP. (Not me, I love Knopfler, and I like this guy too.)
very nice song
