Boy I miss Guitar Hero...
This entire album is great.  One of the few albums I can say that about.  This is a band that leaves it all on stage....  pure energy!  

My Morning Jacket on Conan.

To Conan's credit... he dug the band. 
It took me awhile to appreciate this album. Once I saw them live, it clicked. Brilliant performers. 
Excellent stoner music.  I mean that as a compliment.

Dog bless Louisville; I've seen MMJ twice, in Lexington in 2011, and in Louisville at the Forecastle Festival in 2012. I've also seen Jim James perform a few times solo in small venues in Lex around those same years. I hope MMJ will release some new music soon. In the meantime, they're doing good work.
Such a great late night, loud song.  It's helped me get rid of some pent-up stuff.  Love this record.
First comment in 10 years on this song.

Started 8, then went to 7. They have done much better.

I enjoy the production and the reverb on the vocals; everything doesn't have to sound like Steely Dan or Barbra Streisand.

It sounds like he's singing in some giant, undampened hall, or maybe a cave.  I don't like the effect one bit.  It's grating!   Actually, come to think of it, the sound in general on this sound is just grating.  The cymbals, oh god, they just don't stop!  I can tell I'd like it if they upped the production a tad, though, so I guess it's a 4.

Holy smokes. This mix is so bad it made it impossible to tune out. Never would have realized that was the reason.

I didn't realize there were so many people who don't like Jim James' vocals. I think it is refreshing, myself. Did you know he recorded the vocals in an old grain silo? It seems to give it that haunting sound.

I like the sound and structure of this song, although the lead guitar playing is pretty weak. Sounds OK, but it's not extraordinarily skillful.

The guitar riffs are so familiar ... It's bugging me. I believe it's from a Roy Buchanan song from about the mid 70's with the same chords (or really similar). (which may not have been an original either) I like it, but I've heard this before...

Toward the end, gets into a whole Isaac Hayes Theme from Shaft thing, which is kinda strange. Cool that they can inspire comparisons ranging from Neil Young (I don't see it) to Lindsay Buckingham (maybe) to Isaac Hayes (listen, it's there!).
Started off cool.... and then the singing started. Sounds like one of those actors that decided to start singing.

You can find this and some better songs (IMO) on the free CD that Wired magazine has this month (cover of Beastie Boys). Good stuff I'd never heard of before - some more should be upped to here! :)

I was wondering why this song reminded me of some 70s band and then I read a review which compared it to Neil Young. I don't know if I'd go so far as to compare the lead guitarist to Lyndsey Buckingham, but I do like what I've heard of this band.

I agree that the solo on the album version is quite subdued and plainish. That said, the first time I heard these guys was live on Late Night with Conan O'Brien playing this song, and they rocked out like no other. They played without the massive reverb used throughout their albums, and made up for the open space by playing crunchier and beefier. The guitar solos were exponentially wilder and faster. It was awesome.
