Oh, the wayward wind is a restless wind
A restless wind that yearns to wander
And he was born the next of kin
The next of kin to the wayward wind

In a lonely shack by a railroad track
He spent his younger days
And I guess the sound of the outward bound
Made him a slave to his wand'rin' ways

Oh, the wayward wind is a restless wind
A restless wind that yearns to wander
And he was born the next of kin
The next of kin to the wayward wind

Oh, I met him there in a border town
He vowed we'd never part
Tho' he tried his best to settle down
Now I'm alone with a broken heart

Oh, the wayward wind is a restless wind
A restless wind that yearns to wander
And he was born the next of kin
The next of kin to the wayward wind

The next of kin to the wayward wind...

Wow!I first heard this song in 1957;  a six-year-old riding with his parents in the family Oldsmobile. I asked my mother how one could have a broken heart. Thanks for the memories.
Chills!
Dear, lovely Patsy.. xx
this is gorgeous.
Gorgeous
Wow. Didn't know that. Thanks!

Thank You!  I will have to check out the Gogi Grant version!
I bought my Dad the "Cattle Call" album by Eddie Arnold who wrote this song,  in 1963.
Bloody Hell, that's nearly sixty years ago.
Angelic voice, lovely tune. Love every single bit of it.
What? Only 7.3 rating.
Beautiful soothing song..
My parents had this song done by Gogi Grant sometime before Patsy recorded it.

Again, it's Tammy Wynette. And you're not any getting closer. Try the Google machine.

I won't apologize but Wayward Wind was fun with Gogi Grant. I prefer   Patsy on many other tunes.
Now go check out the extraordinary (!) podcast by David Allen Coe's son called "Cocaine and Rhinestones." It's brilliant: intelligent, well researched, interesting, and comprehensively tells you about the 20th century and country music. You want to know more about Owen Bradley.
STRONG recommendation
Billie Holiday--jazz,  Patsy Cline--country,  similar impact.
Nowhere near my favorite Patsy Cline song, which means I can only give it an 8. Owen Bradley is a polarizing figure, to be sure (see Buddy Holly), but he did fine work with Patsy Cline (kd lang, too)
(Hears an amazing angelic voice) Hmm .. is that Patsy Cline?
Yep.
What a voice. Thank God for music. And Long Live Radio Paradise. :)
One of my mother's favourite songs. Haven't heard it in years. I thought it was corny when I was a kid.

This made me think if her with a smile. And Patsy Cline has the chops. Thanks Bill :)
Thank you for introducing RP listeners to one of the greatest singers of all time.
Wonderful record. Amazed I'd never heard this before. Cline's story is such a sad one, thanks for another wise music selection Goldsmiths.
{#Devil_pimp}zesty ! thought I was playing fallout new vegas for a moment
Talk about a natural.... this woman was THE natural. That tone / lilt / perfect pitch.
Haven't heard this before...sadly, haven't heard much Patsy at all. Lovely voice, great arrangement for the time.

Upcoming: Patti Smith "Dancing Barefoot" . Hmm....interesting segue, but that's RP for ya.
Ah, love.  Way to go, RP.  Bad Luck, Do You Remember, The wayward Wind.
