If I was beautiful, if I had the time
They'd flock to me, bathe me in the wine
I know that's not the way, I know that's not how things are to be
(My baby left, my baby left, gone, gone, gone, gone)
I was always looking and I held until the time began
Solo things come at me, I look to see where loss had ran
I can have the sun it come and touch me on my shoulder
Think of all the things that I could, wish that I had told her

I fly so high then fall so low
(I fly so high, I fly so high)

If I was beautiful, if I had the time
You would flock to me and bathe me in the wine
I know that's not the way, I know that's not how things are to be
If I was like you with nothing to get around
Then everything would be beautiful as far as I can see
You'd be sitting here with me 'til love's end

I fly so high then fall so low
I fly so high then fall so low
Signs of love (I fly so high) away we could run (then fall so low)
I can see the light come peering through the sky in my mind (I fly so high)
Closing people come in but also lying on the floor
I would hold you in my arms until we both are home (then fall so low)
I would hold you in my arms until we both are all alone

100% disagree with those that say this is a “bland” song. It has such a cool vibe. Meditative. Maybe it’s because it’s a great song to work alongside.

Same but even at the time of the diss I didn't think that was Moby's sound.
I like his music but not these political positions

I always skip over moby, his music SUCKS.

What if that is Moby writing that?  He did say 'trust me'.

Sounds like he says "sonic cone".

It looks like he's giving a TED talk.
In theory I shouldn’t like Moby but for 25yrs he’s consistently won me around.
I like Moby's stuff as a general rule...but you know, his music would sound way better if he'd collaborate with an actual singer...

Outstanding! I love the new album. It's serving overtime duty in my CD player these days. It's perhaps not quite as good as "Play" but so what.

awesome that this has been around 19 years - I had to read that twice...a what player?

Everything this guy does sounds the same. Loved it for years, but now it's getting tiresome.

What a musically uneducated man you are!
Well, MOBY creates all this beautiful music on its own!

Srsly? When you like an artist they do good things. When you don't like an artist, even the most innocuous act is somehow offensive, unworthy, etc.

PURE QUALITY.
Thanks Bill.
nothing generally against moby - but it feels as his music is played constantly every 3 hours or so.....

i know, there are other artists which get that much of playing as well....but with all respect, most of them are musically better and left a mark in musical history.

Maybe - as often in life - less is/would be more...

just saying....

In a parallel universe Alison Goldfrapp sang on this one and it sounded exactly the same.
More Moby!
wait. i am just now realizing why he named the album 18.  as opposed to 20?

Sometimes just hearing a song like this restores my faith in music.

For me, music appreciation is mostly a search, no, a quest, for the aesthetic highs and bliss that come from a song like this one.  I slog through many many endless hours of "ho-hum" and "meh" just so every once in a while I will experience something truly moving.

The whole album is simply wicked.
This "chilled out" Moby is my favourite.
His upbeat techno stuff is decent, but I love zoning out to this stuff.

My thoughts exactly.

Not Moby's best, but still good (Moby and good, surely that's an oxymoron tautology ).

...i think it means he needs to move on from the same cheap stock synth pads he employs so ubiquitously...

It is always good to listen Moby, especially the songs from this album. {#Meditate}
one of Moby's best, which says a lot.
There is a much better version of this song that does not include the vocals, but emphasizes the piano playing. I don't know if it's even by Moby. Does anyone know who does that version w/o the vocals?
this is actually one of my favorite Moby songs...definitely my fav from this album saw him live a few years ago with Azure Ray opening for him. It was a fantastic show

I only like Moby because he's a good New York City liberal who uses his "celebrity" to talk sense to the masses. His weblog is one of the few I read regularly. This song is just ok. I'll give it a 6.

Don't forget that if radio didn't play songs that suck, how would you know that they suck? You might find yourself in a record store and think "I've heard a lot about this band. I'll buy it and see what all the hullaballoo is about." RP saves you, the customer, money. Moby is one of those acts that I don't really want to buy, but is just fine with me on the radio.

Seen Moby live in 1999 I think it was. Only him on stage running between the instruments trying to make as much possible live, even sequencing most stuff live. Never seen so much energy on stage, he truly rocked the entire crowd. Simplicity yet complex seems to be his line...
this song has been creeping up on me for some reason. i find it stuck in my head for hours afterward. i guess its the dirge like electronica beat. but its infectious and i am starting to like it.

Enough Moby! He\'s \"ok\" but not great...
Just a song... Ho Hum. Maybe it\'ll grow on me, but there are no signs yet.
Although I\'m usually not too fond of the average modern electronica, this song appeals somehow. It weaves a haunting sonic picture, and when I stop to listen to the lyrics, they work for me.
Enough already! Give this song a rest!
I actually like this tune. Everyone should know that Moby was physically attacked by a couple of losers in Boston the other day, while he was signing autographs for people. He got beat up but help was nearby, so he\'s basically OK. But everyone should send good thoughts his way.
surprisingly I don\'t find this song that bad...and I don\'t even like Moby! But I do like grapes...

It\'s growing on me. The chords have a haunting, melancholy feel.
Not the most complicated or thoughtful peace, but I like it a lot. This kind of tune for me is what I suppose N\'Sync is for a 14 year old. I\'ll probably hate it in three years.
