So nice music! Love it...

Here one of the singers of the ewocs band ;-)

Does anyone know if someone is yodeling during the instrumental interludes? Or is it an instrument + effects?
User @uweer seems to have mistakenly posted the lyrics to the Tori Amos song "Precious Things," which follows "Sweet Lullaby."
This song evokes so many memories and some distant past, it's incredible.
Someone interested in the translation of the Lyrics.
Vivaldi Browser makes it possible.
Here it is:

So I ran faster
But it caught me here
Yes, my loyalties turned
Like my ankle
In the seventh grade
Running after Billy
Running after the rain

These precious things
Let them bleed, let them wash away
These precious things
Let them break their hold over me

He said, you're really an ugly girl
But I like the way you play
And I died
But I thanked him
Can you believe that?
Sick, sick
Holding on to his picture
Dressing up every day
I want to smash the faces
Of those beautiful boys
Those Christian boys
So you can make me come
That doesn't make you Jesus

These precious things
Let them bleed, let them wash away
These precious things
Let them break their hold over me

I remember, yes
In my peach party dress
No one dared
No one cared to tell me
Where the pretty girls are
Those demigods
With their nine inch nails
And little fascist panties
Tucked inside the heart of every nice girl

These precious things
Let them bleed, let them wash away
These precious things
Let them break, let them wash away

These, these precious things
Let them bleed now, let them wash away
These, these precious things
Let them break their hold over me

Correct.  Finnish and Hungarian are related.  Not Bulgarian.
trippy stuff

we need more
My two 30 year olds were over when this came on RP today! Probably hadn't heard it in 20 odd years. Both dancing and singing like 10 year olds!!! It was beautiful!

You're thinking of Hungarian.

I listened to this album a bunch when I was pregnant with my daughter. She's now 26. Getting me a little verklempt (in a good way.) Thank you, Radio Paradise.
oh this reminds me of my days as a nineteen year old,  when I first moved to Amsterdam. Life was good then, it really was.
First heard this on WXPN in the 1990's. They were my 'eclectic' radio station before internet radio existed.
Hearing this always takes me back to the early 90s. Pure Moods was a terrific compilation album with a real lasting cultural impact.
I was in London staying with a very good friend who worked in the film industry when I first heard this song, she has since passed away, way to young, this music so moving for me. It's odd, sometimes after all these years, Radio Paradise is my soundtrack.
Takes me back to a very specific part of my life!

Production sounds very dated now - but still a beautiful melody.

This song, and the original album it was from, are awesome. This album, Pure Moods is also fantastic.

Nope, it's not a Bulgarian lullaby. Their next album had music from Bulgaria/Romania in ample supply. This is not.

Thanks for the info. Very interesting.
oh my, this brings back memories of some very chilled out vodka and weed evenings. I miss those days! lol!  {#Group-hug}
Love this entire album!
That sounds like Peter Gabriel yodeling in the background...

Well put Philbertr...I share your thoughts about the presence of the human voice being used in less obvious ways to transcend an emotion or aura. I just feel these vocals are a bit reaching.

I remember disliking this before but not where or when I was afforded that opportunity.

This song kinda makes me want to rip my own head off. So I'll just...PSD.
My favorite Deep Forest song . . . and/or the only one I can recall . . .

The music's good, but the vocals are painful in the beginning, only becoming tolerable in chorus.

Ditto.

i REALLY liked these guys in college.  now i'm a little embarrassed about that.  still like a song or two but i used to worship their entire catalog.  all of my friends used to jab me about it...in fact most still do.

still decent stuff to go to sleep to, but that's about it.
Cheese alert!

I like this. So there.
I love DF, nice surprise to hear it on RP. Nothing wrong with a little light sound exploration. Just because it's not deep doesn't mean it's not enjoyable.

Yep, we had Pete Murphy kicking of EMO earlier, and now we have Deep Forest starting the new wave of Ewok sound!
Or Picts: how about a segue into "Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict" from the Pink Floyd Ummagumma album?

Very nice!
I love it when there's comments of "nonsense" when it's not in English, I love you parochial guys and gals!
aural mogadon
The cheesed out synths really detract from what is otherwise a nice arangement. Sort of a sign of the times when this was recorded, I guess...
This brings back memories —- Always liked this one —-
Quite nice.  The vocalists sound a bit like Peter Gabriel and Bono trying to sing in Mbutu.

That first Deep Forest album was great. My kids were young then and always loved it. They've been into chanting and worldbeat stuff ever since. Deep Forest, Enigma, Krishna Das, Ladysmith Black Mombazo

This has to be a mistake. A first round "American Idol" performance has obviously gotten into the RP database by accident.  But seriously, the left-right stereo effects in combination with tone deafness and lack of an actual voice is pretty hard to take.

Um ridiculous, ignorant statement. Just because you don't speak the language doesn't mean it's nonsense.

Maybe, but it sounds nice.

Beautiful song; i used to sing this to my son while rocking him. Brings back sweet memories.
Where the hell is Mike?

Seems not many people who listen to RP like Deep Forest.  I really liked them, especially the work they did with Marta Sebestyen.  I had never heard anything like that before and it really opened me up to explore World Music.

This (Deep Forest) was quite a wonderful and original album back in the day, performers' rights not withstanding.................

I love this song, but I seem to remember that there was some problem with the rights to use the voices of the people singing, since their permission was not requested in advance. Anyone know anything about it?

Great number of observers and critics, this writer included, raised the issues that Marquet and Sanchez, aka Deep Forest, had not sought permission of those recorded, Baka pygmies from Camaroon and/or Gabon, to use the recordings and had not properly credited the singers on the CD. It was never clear if these guys were cynical opportunists or just a couple of bohunks who liked to make techno dance records. Nonetheless, after the issues were raised, the duo set up a mechanism whereby some of their income from Deep Forest was donated to the Zaire Pygmy Fund. Why not the Baka is unknown. I still harbor suspicions about their motives. Pretty song, tho'.

Oh it had it's moment. It's just dated. Like Enya.
Is this like a Mauri/Native American version of Enema, I mean Enya?
That first summer I started smoking pot... this and The Wall on cassette tape. Good times.
Checking in for the first time today . . . This had me the first 6 bars. But then, the vocals tended to throw me a bit. Not sure with this one. I was going to add to my iTunes wish list - but I think I'll hold off for now. I can't possibly match the comedy previously stated. The world is full of brilliant, funny people. That's half the entertainment here on RP.

Finally know the who did the music for the Matt video, which I still love.
The version of this song on "Pure Moods" must be a remix, 'cause this is new to me. "Pure Moods" was the first CD I ever bought (at age 9), so I'm quite familiar with those tunes...
Wow...I absolutely love Deep Forest and have never heard them on here before, what a nice surprise. 10!
Good One!
I love the band picture.
There is a lot of silly chant music going around, but I always enjoyed this.

I like the song but this was too too funny. BTW - I had never heard of Matt, so thanks to whoever linked to him in the first place. I found his dance videos very entertaining. The ones on YouTube where he explains how he ended up dancing like an idiot for millions are quite interesting as well. Apparently I should move out from under this rock because everyone else in the known universe has heard of him except me.

lol@the pure moods album artwork. i remember those commercials! which i can't think of without thinking of the DJ Dado remix of the X-files theme oh man...

i remember watching a commercial for this CD when I was in 5th or 6th grade and absolutely loving when it came on because it had snippets of songs by enya and Return to Innocence. it's slightly strange to see it now.
