Baby crossed an ocean just to see what she could see
Half the world beneath her feet, a rose between her teeth
Spent her lifetime loving, spent her lifetime living fine
But since you broke her heart, yeah, she needs a little time
A little time, a little time

Before we were old mem'ries and I guessed that we'd be fine
Shooting stars still break her heart and sunsets make her cry
Watch the birds fly over head, you can catch them if you try
Watch the planes fly over head, you can catch them if you try
If you try, if you try

Two stones in my pocket girl, I keep them for my dreams
I give 'em both to you now cause you need them more than me
Your mother's arms will keep ya safe wherever you may be
Your mother's arms will keep ya safe however you may be
You may be, you may be

Baby crossed an ocean just to see what she could see
Half the world beneath her feet, a rose between her teeth
Spent her lifetime loving, spent her lifetime living fine
But since you broke her heart, yeah, she needs a little time
A little time, a little time

Two stones in my pocket, girl, I keep them for my dreams
I give 'em both to you now cause you need them more than me
Your mother's arms will keep ya safe wherever you may be
Your mother's arms will keep ya safe however you may be
You may be, you may be, you may be

Mick and Keith in his pockets?
I know just the lake, a little woodland number in western New York about a quarter mile from the Catholic summer camp that I was stuck at for a week.  Not the worst, but the lake had an apparently endless supply of great skipping rocks.  Almost made it across the whole lake a couple of times.
My issue is that the riff is so effing repetitive...on and on... by the 2/3 point I'm looking to find the skip button.
An image arises in my mind of Natalie Holloway when listening to this
I get a Sufjan feel here. Nice feel.

I don't think the song suggestion system even works... I've tried a few times and there's no activity, no upvotes, no downvotes, no comments... I guess it's broken.

On the other hand I think if it actually worked, RP would be flooded with suggestions, all the way from big labels trying to get Bill to play Ed Sheeran to starter bands trying to break into the scene.  Maybe it's better off without the user input.

It worked once upon a time in the mists of long ago, but it seems to have been abandoned. Probably for reasons mentioned.

Sounds like Morphine's In Spite of Me - nice, liking it.
Saturated with a sense of nostalgia.  Very creative ambience.  Surprising what can be done can be done with guitars, minimal synths, and some layering.
The songs and artists I have suggested to RP and had them rejected but this gets through.  No justice.

I gave this song also an 8! A wonderful Song. Greetings from Germany to Bill & Rebecca and all of you listeners.

Crazy....a toga wearing Mr. Belushi just showed at my house, all pissed off and ready to kick my ass.  And by serendipity, some punk threw a couple stones through my window, just in time to hit him in the head and save me from sure death.

I'll go +1 (to a 7 lol) LLRP!!

What a great song-  Neil just needs a few little things:
A front-man with a decent voice, some real live musicians, and some song-writing.Then OFF TO THE WOODSHED FOR ABOUT 10000000 hours. Then I'll be listening. Otherwise this is the musical equivalent of FRIGGIN' MELTED VELVEETA!   We count on Radio Paradise to pour this A-I generated crap down the drain, much the way we counted on WNEW's Allison Steele (The NIght Bird) in 1968 to bring us the REAL DEAL. She changed my whole goddamn life; she played THe Doors and made me move to the west coast.  Y'all are the inheritors of  a GLORIOUS TRADITION!! Don't waste your shot getting doo-doo like this i
n our ears!

I feel better now {#Beat}
Like, but short on lyrics…keep writing!
Thought for sure this was Yo La Tengo before I looked up. Nice!

No no, that was the music I was referring to, you must have misunderstood. How funny though....

Actually, the OP was quite rightly making the point that this song is just a repetitive droning piece of crap, I agree with them.

I like this song quite a bit, but throwing stones into the windows of those who don't, is quite excessive in my opinion.

He probably listens to stuff a lot older than that as well.  This is essentially derived from pretty basic, acoustic folk music - which has been around for a long time.

I was hearing some Real Tuesday Weld here too. :-)
Fabulous song; wonderful sound... I just recently discovered his earlier work with Mojave 3, and find it to be similarly soothing and cool.

This song has been around since at least February of 2002... It's permanently 'bookmarked' that era of my life

I like Neil but this album cover is a ripoff of Hokusai's  The Great Wave Off Kanagawa.

It's clearly a direct reference - not a rip-off.  Hundreds of millions of people, all over the world are familiar with that work.  It's not as if the designer was trying to fool someone.

Aw thanks for sharing scrubbbrush. Sorry to hear, but its healthy that you both cried together. Interesting how music can bookmark a certain poignant time in your life. Hang in there.

Absolutely love this whole album! Another singer that, for me, invokes nastalgia in such a wonderful way!

Nastalgia:  the warm, fuzzy feeling you get when thinking about all the bad things you used to do.
I feel warm and fuzzy...
The tamborine player just *rocks*!
This whole album is a Sunday morning. I love it.
I had a premonition that a Nick Drake cut would follow this.....and lo, there it is.

Wow. That was... fluffy? I need some Copperhead Road as a palate cleanser!

Love this album, for those that don't know he's front man for Mojave 3 too, great great band. 8
fyi... I recently bought this CD and can't get enough of it. It kind of has a Nick Drake effect on me... the songs make you feel happy/sad at the same time.
Funny you should say that ... back in 2003 ... I thought it was Nick Drake at first.
Bit of a let down right after Blur *bump*
Very toe- tapping
Absolutely love this whole album! Another singer that, for me, invokes nastalgia in such a wonderful way!
Not a bad song, but a little mellow for a Friday afternoon, and a definite buzz kill after the B-52s and Propellerheads.
You know how the more you hear a song, and the better you get to know the words, the more you feel like you like it, even if you didn't like it at first? Also known as Top 40 syndrome? Well that's what's happening to me with this song. I had it at 4. Now it's 6. But deep down I know that I originally gave it a 4 and I figure there must have been a reason.
Think he listens to the Eels much?

Isn't there a moratorium on the use of that vocal filter? "No-one's allowed to use it for another 10 years" - I'm sure there was a law passed. And yes, Tom Waits, too.
a pleasant ditty....
Like a bad lullaby, makes me sleepy..
What's with the weird voice echo-ey thing? Sounds like "Puttin' On the Ritz" gone Alt-Country.

Sometimes I like Neil. Sometimes I don't. This is a "not quite" for me. A well-earned 6.

didnt like his music at all on the first few listens... but it has definitely grown on me. i usually find that to be the mark of some great tunes.
Neil is a very talented singer/songwriter from the band Mojave 3. This band is amazing, if you like country-tinged infectious atmospheric folk-rock. Awesome tune, and please play more Mojave 3. An incredible talented band!
This I like a lot! I believe there is nothing harder than to achieve true simplicity. This song is a musical little poem. It's the first green buds after a long winter. We need more of this. Peace.
Yeeeaaaaahhhhhh, nice little guitar part at the beginning, then a guy comes on sounding like he\'s singing through a telephone. Nails on a chalkboard. MDR-V6\'s off.

How come this song makes everybody else feel happy, but I feel depressed when listening to this?

Sweet... like a happier Nick Drake..
I like this a lot.
Nice happy feel to this one!
This gives me the same kind of \"walking down the road in the sunshine\" feeling that The 59th Street Bridge Song\" gave me a lifetime ago.
Great tune! Please play more of Neil Halstead, I\'ve never heard him before.
