Gin and Juice
by Snoop Doggy Dogg
As played by the Gourds

With so much drama in L-B-C
It's kinda hard bein Snoop D-O-double-G
But I, somehow, some way
Keep comin up with funky ass shit like every single day
And, can I kick a little something for the G's
and, make a few friends as I breeze through
Don't you know it's two in the mornin'
and the party's still jumpin'
cause my momma ain't ho-ome
I got bitches in the living room gettin' it on
and, they ain't leavin' til six in the mornin'
So, what you wanna do
I got a pocket full of rubbers and my homeboys do too
So turn off the lights and close the doors
But (but what) we don't love them whores
So we gonna smoke a ounce to that
G's up, hoes down, while you motherfuckers bounce to this
And I'll be

Chorus: repeat 2X

Rollin' down the street, smokin' indo, sippin' on gin and juice
Laid back with my mind on my money and my money on my mind, ya'll

Verse Two:

I got me some Seagram's gin
Everybody got their cups, but they ain't chipped in
You know, this type of shit happens all the time
You gotta get yours before I get mine
Everything is fine when you listenin' to the D-O-G
He's got the cultivating music that be captivating me
But, who hears the words that I speak
As I take me a drink to the middle of the street
I started mackin' with this bitch named Sadie
You know, she used to be the homeboy's lady
Don't you know it's eighty degrees
when I tell that bitch please
Raise up off these N-U-Ts
cause you gets none of these at ease
as I mob with the Dogg Pound, feel the breeze

Chorus

Verse Three:

(slows down)
Later on that day
My homey Dr. Dre
He came by with a gang of Tanqueray
And a fat ass J,
of some bubonic chronic, you know it made me choke
It ain't no joke, I had to back up off it,
Set my cup of gin down
Don't you know
(stops)
Tanqueray and chronic, well I'm fucked up now
(speeds back up)
But it ain't stoppin', I'm still poppin'
Dr. Dre got some bitches from the city of Compton
To serve me, not with a cherry on top
Cause when I bust my nut, you know I'm raisin' up off the cot
Don't get upset girl, that's just how it goes
I don't love you hoes, that's why I'm out the do'
And I'll be

Chorus

Rollin' down the street, smokin' indo, sippin' on gin and juice {beeotch!!}
Beeotch, oh woah woah woah

Rollin' down the street, smokin' indo, sippin' on gin and juice

Diligently working on a spreadsheet with RP blotting out the rest of the world when my brain registers and asks “WHAT THE F*CK.” Then the free brain cells figure it out and says “Love ya Bill!”
Fun song but a little risque for public consumption in my orthodontic office
probably the closest rp will ever get to playing snoop dogg
I haven't heard this song in years! I remember seeing the Gourds play in Missoula, MT in the early 2000s. It was a high time, and this song brought the house down every time.
Bill you're hilarious
All y'all sayin this is the worst song on RP.... evidently y'all ain't heard the one Bill plays about JOB.
And you're a buncha wet goats.
And don't forget...Gin, Lime juices, and club soda makes it a Gin Rickey cocktail.

A perfect Summer 2024 drink.
Sounds like The Band

greatness. great cover.......... thanks bill
Quite possibly one the best covers ever. Not saying that just 'cause I live in Austin. Brilliant. Keep up the good work Bill.

God riddance.... not only is this a brilliant genre bending cover, the musicianship is stellar!
I swear that I have an mp3 of this at home somewhere and it was credited to Blues Traveler. Either way, it's hundreds of times better than the original!
i agree with you. i was beginning to think i was the only one who didn't enjoy that song as much as everyone else (judging by the posts).

This makes me laugh.

These guys are awesome live, too. Saw them at the Nutty Brown awhile back, and they're a bunch of nuts. c.
Woo! I was kinda dragging and this woke me up! Thanks!
HEEEEELLLLLS YES!!!
This song makes me giggle every time I hear it... and it never gets old! Nice on Bill!!! Happy Friday!
This sounds like the Asylum Street Spankers from Austin.
NSFW, but who the hell cares! haven't heard this in years.
sounds nice for European ears.

I love this song!
Ohhhh, Yeahhh!

OK, this is classic. Hi-larious. I hope this is building up to the RP world premiere of "My Humps".
I assume you would be referring to Alanis Morrisette's rather awesome job..

I freakin' love The Gourds! Why only one tune on RP? Quick, someone upload something from Heavy Ornamentals.
Tough call. I love the energy, appreciate the absurdity, but still can't abide the misogyny. I give it a 2, with the disclaimer attached.

My thoughts exactly !!
How good is this! First time ive heard it, im sure Snoop is really pleased....
Somebody needs to upload the complete version. That one's chopped off.

Can't believe I am hearing this song! Very cool. Makes me feel naughty. Should be played back-to-back with Ben Fold's cover of a Snoop song.
I'm with him. Has anyone uploaded Ben Folds' cover of "Bitches Ain't Shit"?
I have always liked this song. I even think part of its appeal is that it is a Snoop song. Heard the orginal the other day, it really is terrible, but then again rap / hip hop does nothing for me (then again it wasnt made to appeal to my demos - and I am OK with that)
Snoop Dog cover!? Awesome!
While it's tough to get past the mandolin, the bass kicks some serious ass also.
Not sure which style of music is being poked fun at but I LIKE it.
Oh my God, I thought this was The Band and Levon Helm!

Nevermind...thanks, Bill. This is great- I ahve liked it for quite some time......but I am with Confused....does Phish cover it as well, or were we all confused?
that cultivating music thats captivating me!
How much more Red can a Neck get??
Oh. My. God. Amazing!
This should be played back-to-back with the Dynamite Hack cover of "Boyz 'n the Hood" It's a good thing I can't get RP in the car, or I'd get in an accident laughing.

Confused: This song is not listed on this album. And I too always thought it was Phish with Les Claypool (of Primus fame). Can I get some concrete evidence that The Gourds covered this song? Thanks, Ya'll.
Your right! It's on the cd "Shinebox" by the Gourds. I don't know why Bill shows the cd "Blood on the Ram".

Not sure if it's still up, but the gourds used to have a videoclip on their website of snoop on listening to their version for the first time and really getting into it. Pretty cool.
The Gourds are a hometown, homegrown favorite here in Austin. Local music critic Michael Corcoran credits them with the invention of what he calls Redneck Rock. These guys kill me.
Fo' sheezy my nezzy!
**turns up the volume** Love the original, love this. And, that mandolin kicks much arse.
Oh yeah, I rated it a 10, I sure did. My life is more and more fulfilled every time I hear this song which isn't often enough... I started laughin with this bitch name sadie... Pure poetry! I love it more than the original, which says a lot!
Hell yeah! Love it.
this is awesome! i had downloaded this a long time ago and it was labeled as being by "Phish," but i knew better. glad to know who it is finally.... biatch!!
It's been WAY too long since I've heard this! Thanks, Bill!
Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
Hilarious...
for some reason, this song is widely identified as being by Phish on such file sharing sites as Kazaa and WinMX. personally, i never have heard of the gourds, but i like the song.

Perfect example of taking a horrible song and making it incredible. I guess that's the difference between having talent (this cover) and not (the original Snoop version.)
I have to disagree -- both versions are great, for shizzle, and Snoop is by no means without talent
I like it and snoop's too...but I alway thought it was "The BareNaked Lady's" hmm...
This song seems to me to be a slap in the face satire of the whole gangsta rap thing. Is it meant to be complimentary or caustic? I can't decide, but I think that it is hilarious anyway. BTW, I admit that I liked the original by Snoop....
WTF. In the good way.
This is the greatest cover ever! Brings me back to the campfire.
wtf
Okay, maybe rap doesn't have to suck!

I remember when I first got into the Old 97s back in 97? I was stumbling around and found the Gourds. Stadium Blitzer is a great album. The song about Haggis is worth a listen for pure comic value. Also some good 'serious songs' This dudes voice is so distinctive...the first time I heard the cover, I knew it was the Gourds.

Mine was biatch!
I just had to comment again: This song is the Shiznit. (pimp)

Good point however if I had never heard the Pink Floyd original I still would not really care for Mother. Too corny for my taste. As a matter of fact, having heard the original is the only reason I find Mother humorous and of any merit (to me) at all!
lmao.

Now I have to hear this version by snoop dog. I agree with pimpbot5000. This must have been very popular on the net because I have seen it under the name of widespread panic but after introducing myself to them decided it couldn't be. I've seen it under the name of many sorts but still nobody had the right band. Thanks for the info.

Yahhh, biyaaaaaaaatch! It\'s hard being Snoop dee-oh-double-gee
Thats amazing. What a great cover
I don\'t know if it is real or not, but there is a link to a video of Snoop Dogg listening to The Gourds\' cover on the their website..... He seems to like it :) https://groups.yahoo.com/group/gourdsmusic/files/ (The \"Snoop Dogg Sings Along\" link)

Okay, for the uninitiated, who\'s song was this originally?
Much preferable to the original, and the closest I usually get to country is Hayseed Dixie.
Dancin\' round the home office in the ice storm!!!!!! :D
TRULY an outstanding cover. Better than the original. This is just tremendous, tremendous stuff. Thanks RP!
I love this song!!!!

cooter sez \"yyyyyeeeeeeeehawww\" :p :p  :p
I was wondering who this was -- last I heard it was Ween, and I knew that wasn\'t true...
This gets points just for the absurd value of it. I\'d love to see this performed in a Tennessee honkey tonk bar...
Yee ha!! Like it, Like it!!

Yes, you\'re right. I saw the Gourds do this live at the SXSW festival in March. Sounded great.
