Ride on Through the night Ride on
Ride on Through the night Ride on

There are visions, there are memories
There are echoes of thundering hooves
There are fires, there is laughter
There's the sound of a thousand doves

Ride on Through the night Ride on
Ride on Through the night Ride on

In the velvet of the darkness
By the silhouette of silent trees
They are watching, they are waiting
They are witnessing life's mysteries

Ride on Through the night Ride on
Ride on Through the night Ride on

Cascading stars on the slumbering hills
They are dancing as far as the sea
Riding o'er the land, you can feel it's gentle hand
Leading on to it's destiny

Ride on Through the night Ride on
Ride on Through the night Ride on

Take me with you on this journey
Where the boundaries of time are now tossed
In cathedrals of the forest
In the words of the tongues now lost

Find the answers, ask the questions
Find the roots of an ancient tree
Take me dancing, take me singing
I'll ride on till the moon meets the sea

Ride on Through the night Ride on
Ride on Through the night Ride on

Ride on Through the night Ride on
Ride on Through the night Ride on

As if you're not, already...stay tuned! Bill always likes to throw out the occasional "curve ball"!!  LLRP!!

Seconded!

Lovely voice, engaging and meditative to a point, but the overall dynamics of the song are so flat, it just seems repetitive and pointlessly adrift beginning about halfway through. Sometimes it's nice to drift on a breeze, other times it just dries out your skin.

Unique...I like your analogy.but, Loreena? She could sing beauty out of a phone book! Phenomenal voice!

Agreed. But then, at least as far as I care, no need to even see anything! With Loreena, it's all about that voice! Extraordinary control of it and, so angelic! Wish I could've seen her show somewhere, sometime. RP will have to be sole provider of such beautiful entertainment!

The 1990s must have been the golden age of "new age".  I was never into that stuff but hearing songs like this, I do get some sense of the allure and mystery, especially before the days of the Internet before all the answers were there.

Deluded unworldly metaphysical tripe. Sorry, I get world music, but this Celtic redux pushed to absurd lengths is just boring after 17+ albums. It's like singing about Shakespeare over 17 albums. Really? Can't keep up, sorry. Gotta hear a System Of A Down psyche tune in there to reset, man..

Saw her in concert at the University of Calgary back when she was promoting "The Visit".  We hung around after and she was kind enough to come out and talk to us.  A really lovely person.
I heard Darkness Darkness - Robert Plant. Very similar groove. Maybe Robert and Loreena should hook up?
I believe I only got to know Loreena through RP! Thanks Bill! The mood she conveys is so unique and beautiful. Her music was on my mind when I first visited silk road countries.

I have seen her several times, always outstanding  especially if she has her full orchestra.

Loreena is a very decent type of person. Years ago we contacted her about if she was doing any local shows, as my best friend who was dying of ALS would love to see her for a glimmer of joy. A couple weeks later we received a parcel that contained a video of a live performance, and an apology that she wasn't playing in the area in the foreseeable future. A good soul.
Always liked this artist. Have several of her CDs.

Love anything Loreena. Such a gifted storyteller. Please play more, Bill!

That is exactly what I was going to write so I will simply agree...
Great live, another Canadian treasure. her violinist used to play with Bruce Cockburn way back in the 80s and is superb. The whole band is great actually
Excellent Seque from Leonard Cohen's "Who By Fire"
Beautiful voice and tune. She has an amazing voice. We saw her in concert back in April in London and she was superb.
The Caucasus is a mountain range/region in central Asia, from which the racial category "Caucasian" is derived.

Blah, I'm indifferent to this genre of music.  Just not a fan of Celtic.  Not uplifting enough.  Sorry!

Just sitting listening to the music with my wife, this came on and has blown me away.

Feel the need to download on to the Ipod.

Great music as always thanks

Hear Hear, Felix!!! I had seen her at Radio City Music Hall a few years back. Incredible Show!!! People were so rapt with attention that you could hear a pin drop. Hauntingly. Beautiful. Music.

... and true that it doesn't suit everyone's taste.

Sweet Loreena Modern ...

This music has a time and a place for me to listen  as well .. i would have to be dead and and i would surely be in in hell.

Suckola.
This music has a time and place for me. When that time and place comes along Ms. McKennitt fits the bill and her band of musicians are all pretty talented. I certainly understand it is not for everyone. Ask my kids what they think when I lock them in a speeding vehicle with this cranked.

Yeah, I do that all the time.

Why, I did that just last week!

Naw, McKennitt can be pretty tripe-y. She's been boring up the Manitoban folk scene for years with her D&D inspired jibba jabba.

It's rare when I like a live version better than the studio one. However, the nuances of this performance are lovely.

She's very capable of quickly bringing out that powerful tremulous voice to emphasize a note and then quickly returning to that dreamy voice. Truly a great singer. I have one of her albums, but I find she's easy to get tired of after just 3 or 4 songs. They don't have much variation.
Found this tune to soothe me. Thank you for the drip into such a powerful live performance. Now you have got me hooked with this artist, as well. RP has meant lots of funds diverted into music CDs. Love the learning process, though.
Oh...oh...this is heavenly... :daisy.gif:

Step off the edge into the deep dark sea. Float, drift, shimmer and slide into shade filled soul realms, surrender pride, embrace the moment of experience... This is how one might come to thoroughly enjoy Loreena McKennitt. Try it sometime.

Ahhhhh what relief after that dirge from Talvin Singh - like banging your head on the wall, feels so good when you stop. I supose that is why it is required to have some really annoying music now and then !
Her voice is so sublime.
