Sunrise doesn't last all morning
A cloudburst doesn't last all day
Seems my love is up and has left you with no warning
It's not always going to be this grey

All things must pass
All things must pass away

Sunset doesn't last all evening
A mind can blow those clouds away
After all this, my love is up and must be leaving
It's not always going to be this grey

All things must pass
All things must pass away

All things must pass
None of life's strings can last
So, I must be on my way
And face another day

Now the darkness only stays the night-time
In the morning it will fade away
Daylight is good at arriving at the right time
It's not always going to be this grey

All things must pass
All things must pass away
All things must pass
All things must pass away

I remember digging this immensely when it came out. I didn't realize just how much George was speaking to my future self! Sure enough, he was, and what a great comfort his timeless gift has been to me! As Buddha Said, "There is only the arising and passing of phenomena..." Indeed. Hard to comprehend, but essential to remember, especially when confronted with yet another Oh my God how can this crap be happening?...there's NO WAY I can get through it! Well, as Mr. Mojo RIsin' said, MUSIC IS YOUR ONLY FRIEND -- Until The End... UNTIL THE END!  Amen.
The version from The Concert for George is also most excellent.
The Phil Spector touch we could do without! Otherwise a brilliant song!
Funny, I've known this song as the album name forever but I'm not sure I ever heard the song itself until I started hearing it on RP. I don't even remember 'BCN (The Rock of Boston for 41 years) playing it back in the day. Thank you Radio Paradise!

Great scene in "Get Back" where George is noodling this a little bit for the guys...i think he then figures out, "i better just keep this one for myself."
George was the soul of the Beatles

John was the head, Ringo was the beating heart, and Paul was that part of a person that wants to sing when they're happy.

Like the whole album this has a great deal of beauty, but at the same time a feeling of sadness.
I like the beatles solo stuff as a group meh

I love his voice!!!!
George was eclipsed by Johns' brilliance and persona, but still remains as my most loved Beatle. Understated, intensely creative and adventurous. I hear sitars and Sergeant Pepper, music of that era that was considered as experimental. It was his adoption of culture with diversity that had not previously existed in popular music that shines for me, still.
This particular song leads me back to this album I once owned, now lost to time.
Thank you RP for the memories.

I have a story about this song... Back in the day when Coyote FM was new and the programmer was playing things like "Come and Go Blues" by Gregg Allman and "Illinois" by Dan Fogelberg, I was invited to provide music for the station, so I delivered some pretty good stuff. Got to know the programmer, we exchanged e-mail addresses, and one day, I was having a pretty bad time. My brother was in the hospital, right in the middle of a refinance and a remodel that I had to handle because of his incapacitation, and I was working at a full-time job, too. I sort of snapped, and e-mailed the programmer-friend, telling him about what I was going through. He said, "Listen at noon."  So I did, and he played this song, with the dedication, "To my friend, who's handling a lot now. Music can help anyone get through anything."

I never forgot that. I don't know where my friend is now, but every time I hear this song, I think of him, of what I was going through, and how I got through it. I know the time will come when I can just listen to this song and love it on its own merits, and not because of anything else attached to it.

Thank you again for sharing that, Cynaera...  we all miss you so very much...  everybody in my hotel room loves this incredible song more than zesty pussy pickles...  this song is soooo good it puts a spring in our step this new winter day...  we be dancing like happy hippies...  love sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll...
Lovely lyrics.  Just what I need on a dreary Monday.

First triple album I ever bought. Great song. George was finally able to put more than a couple of songs on a record! He had a lot of music, ready to release, upon Beatles break up.

I really like this routine of playing something from ATMP on Sat. mornings.  Just like last weekend, listening to GH while drinking my Sat. am cappuccino.  A great way to start the weekend, reminding me that life is good.
Great song. One of the great albums, more than a mere sum of its musical parts.
George's best work this album; would love hear 'Isn't It A Pity'.
9 —> 10. Thank you, George.

That's really cool
Even hot flushes
I could have easily enjoyed a couple more life-times of George's music. Loved the Wilbury's and
wonder what was inspiration triggered End Of The Line . George always traveled with at least two and
often more ukuleles in the trunk of his car. He pulled into Petty's drive one day and told Tom to pick out
one of the uku's, but Petty said " I don't know how to play one of those" George said " Hey no problem, I'll teach you, grab one," so Petty did, and after an hour of so Petty had picked up the chord patterns and they were jamming away. Tom said from that day on "he" never went anywhere without a uku in his trunk.

Cheers George. Saw your son and his new band recently.  You should be proud.

Story:  My radio-programmer friend played this song on the radio right after I'd lost a dear friend to cancer. He didn't know, but I e-mailed him, and he apologized. I fwapped him, we met for drinks and talked about my friend, and the music. He confessed that "All Things Must Pass" was one of his favorite songs and he built song-sets around it because it lent itself to sorrow and hope.

So - I can't listen to it without being very ambiguous about how I feel. It makes me cry, but it also inspires a sense of positivity. I hate this song.  I love this song.

It must be said, this has got to be the world's weirdest-slash-most spiritually profound breakup song... Doesn't keep it from being a 10, of course.

One of the finest, if not THE finest, song comments ever. Thanks OV.

On the All Things Must Pass album, George demonstrated his passion and musical chops as he issued a sublime collection that spanned the entire range of human emotion. Rock with the very best of them; ethereal soundscapes; melodies like spring; celebrations of love; and the tragedies of humanity — George Harrison was a true master of all of them!
A true jewel of the sonic world!

Love George but remember, George had a few years of tunes that never made it onto Beatles records thanks to John and Paul's dominance. Hear a couple of demos on Anthology 3.
