At last
My love has come along
My lonely days are over
And life is like a song

Oh yeah yeah
At last

The skies above are blue
My heart was wrapped up in clover
The night I looked at you

I found a dream, that I could speak to
A dream that I can call my own
I found a thrill to press my cheek to
A thrill that I have never known

Oh yeah yeah
You smiled, you smiled
Oh and then the spell was cast
And here we are in heaven
For you are mine...

At Last

Stunning.
will always remind me of Northern Exposure!!
Etta James version released in 1960.
It occurred to me that there is a paucity smooth, sultry and dulcet toned singers it seems in the 21st century. I invite suggestions to follow up.

I'm sure this is an excellent piece of music, unfortunately I'm not old enough to appreciate it. I grew up with this kind of music, it's what my parents listened to. Then I discovered the antidote: Led Zep, Floyd, Crimson, ELP...  {#Roflol}

Why do you say you're too old?  Do you like Mozart?  Beethoven?  Tommy Dorsey?  Jimmy Dorsey?  Johnny Cash?  Beatles?  Alt-J?

Good music lasts, and will continue to please new listeners.
10!

I fell in love with "Hank Wilson's Back." by  Leon Russell while riding in the back of an over crowded VW.

Funny that you consider yourself "not old enough" to appreciate this, when according to your profile you're old enough to be my parent, and I appreciate it just fine.  No accounting for taste, I suppose.

Funny thing... when this started, I thought it was Demon Days by Gorillaz... similar openings. Now I'm getting Demon Days following this!

Raise your hand if you danced to this at your wedding......of course because we were 40 years old........
When we married in 2013, we played this song in the church.

Always a 10!
An absolute knockout. Even the slightly off key strings at the end are perfectly judged.
Terrific voice ❤️
Tried to bump this up, but long ago ranked it 10.
Always fantastic.

Patsy Cline and Nina Simone have snuck in since your post, but a big part of it is that almost half the slots are hogged by 4 artists - Pink Floyd, The Beatles (I'm including John's Imagine in their count), Jimi Hedrix, and Led Zeppelin. Make of that what you will.
Great, great, great!!!!

Nice curve on the stats. Contrast it with that for the song before, or after.

As pithy as it gets: this one is highly rated because people like it–or that is the inference I draw from the high correlation between rating this song highly and the strength of the drive of the same people to focus their attention on the song when it is being played (or even when they are consciously seeking out that song, from any of a number of available sources, in order to listen to it, for any number of reasons, none of them negative).

How strange. . . is this more a self conditioning aspect of disregarding what your parents listened to rather than appreciating the music for what it is?

Are you saying that if your parents listened to a piece of music that you can't appreciated it because they did?

Oh dear. . .

Saw Etta at Newport Jazz Festival years back.We cruised there on the QE2. What a talent she was. Sadly they have both sailed into the sunset.
Splendor incarnate.
That stopped everything.  Beautiful.

At Last...., but not for nearly long enough. You will be truly missed, Ms. James.

How brutal - after Aimee Mann  - who can't sing a pure note to save her life, you follow with Etta James at her best.. cruel...
