Yup, I used to read the DILBERT strip amongst others, when I would read the Boston Herald or the Globe every morning 20+ tears ago. Then I stopped buying newspapers. I think it was an acquired taste trying to understand it some times.
I know I used to share Dilbert here a long time ago but scrolling thru some on google, couldn't find a good one that brought back that feeling.
I read half of one of his books (borrowed from the library), it was so self important and disconnected from reality. He was mad because he lost money when no one bought his Dilburittos (poor quality, limited flavors for easier selection!?!?). This was well before he went all in on trump. He also basically stole most of his ideas from working at the phone company.
This is yet another incident where the conversation here takes on an interesting flavor, driven in part by the stupidity of Fox News.
That link now delivers an "updated" obit headline that reads :
Sixties 'sex kitten', animal rights activist Brigitte Bardot dead at 91
Apparently someone with a bit more intelligence or awareness decided to weigh in (or "Sex Kitten" gets more clicks than "Hollywood" anything on Fox).
The comments section on that link page would have her in the running with Mother Theresa and Eleanor Roosevelt as the greatest woman of the 20th century.
Yeah, I hadn't realised, or perhaps forgot that she was such a fucking racist in her later life. To split hairs, it isn't revisionist, but a sin of omission.
I will judge active artists by their personality as well as their skills and spend my money accordingly. Not sure this works the same way with retired or dead ones
Hollywood icon is rather US-centric. Pretty much all her films were French.
I actually think she was a really good actor, not just a pretty face. It wasn't too long ago I re-watched Viva Maria! It is kind of dated, and I found myself more in love with Jeanne Moreau than the Brigitte I lusted after as a teen. She was probably held back by the male-dominated film industry of the time.
Her animal rights stance was over the top imo, but her heart was in the right place.
