He got the final deferment when his father convinced a doctor friend to sign a letter asserting that young Donny had “bone spurs” in his ankle, a faked ailment. Somehow the “bone spurs” didn’t prevent him engaging in athletics during college and, when asked about them during his campaign, Trump couldn’t even identify which of his ankles had been afflicted. Now, I’m not suggesting that any real harm was done by Dimwit’s salute. It wasn’t. I’m not outraged or angry about it. But I will expose the hypocrisy because Trump and his MAGA cult, which wraps itself in the flag, often pretend they have a monopoly on patriotism and go into conniptions whenever someone not loyal to their Dear Leader violates the flag code. So, hand over heart, draft dodger. You have no business saluting during the anthem. You haven’t earned it.
