Unfortunately seems to be some ongoing issues. Uninstalling and reinstalling might help if the update left something corrupted. Has helped for some people.
Uninstalling and reinstalling did not work. Did it a few times with no joy. I went back and looked at my notes on iOS from some meetings I was in with Apple about securing iPhones... Uninstalling can sometimes leave debris behind, particularly where there are app to app interactions (across containers), like would happen with the RP app and CarPlay. That was clearly what I was experiencing. After uninstall/reinstall I was still having the same problem with the app getting preemptively shut down by iOS - I swear I could hear a popping sound (and I'm sure that was imagined, but the crash was that abrupt which is a sign of iOS killing the app.) That was my clue on what to try next. Rebooting an iPhone - powering it down and then powering it back up - causes iOS to do a bunch of integrity checks and cleanup of orphan data, and it rechecks/repairs the integrity of its own apps.
So, I did an uninstall. Rebooted the phone. Then did a fresh install. And suddenly everything worked. Even better, I'd been having issues with CarPlay general reliability for the last few months, while I was struggling with the RP app problems, that I blamed on Mazda's crappy CarPlay integration. CarPlay was unstable even if I wasn't using RP's app and it was uninstalled. Just as RP's app is rock solid now, CarPlay is back to rock solid. So there's some cruft left behind from the unstable versions of the app that doesn't get cleaned up by an uninstall and reinstall that can even affect CarPlay, unless you do an iPhone hard reboot in between.
Are you sure it's not just the songs themselves? There seems to be a trend to crush vocal tracks with hard limiters these days. Quite a few recent songs are already messed up during mastering. I guess it's the next thing now that everyone is getting bored of the vocoders and pitch shifters.
It certainly could be that, as the playlists are very different from what they were a few years ago. It could also be due to broadcast software, and we could only know that for sure if the flac streams were guaranteed bit-perfect from the source. Either way, it would be good if at least one stream had sound quality as a priority - or at least weed out the really bad tracks.

The average sound quality of RP seems to have got a lot worse since the changes. From what I can see, the cause is hard limiting. Either a high proportion of recently added tracks are really bad, or something nasty is happening between original track and server. I used to listen to RP streams for hours, but now I find it's not long before I switch to better-sounding sources just to give my ears a rest.

Log out and log back in and restart app. Worked for me.

To be safe, I logged out of the RP App, logged back in and restarted my phone then re-added some download cache. After that all worked fine. This makes my RP experience now perfect.
Mine still does not show how much time or how many songs are left in downloaded content.

This is weird. Listening through the website on Firefox and the left hand column says Brian Reitzel is playing. Middle column says Jeff Tweedy is playing. But the music coming out is neither of those. Wen I check in on Safari it shows and is playing Louis Armstrong,Skokiaan.... 9:23am EST 4/19/23
I have a Microsoft Surface Pro tablet (in addition to several Apple devices). The Surface runs Windows 10 and has a version of RP dated 2013 installed. This version of the app doesn't have the ability to select channels ( the default is the Main Mix which I think was the only option available in 2013). Are there any plans to update the Windows app? I realize I can access the full slate of channels through the Web site, but thought I would inquire anyway.
Just updated app to 9.1.1161, now just shows a black screen. iPhone 12, iOS 18.7.2.
4th time was a charm for me bluesbop. I am running ios 26.4.1 on i17 with RP 9.9.1161. Removed app and deleted RP info, rebooted phone and reinstalled, and then did it three more times. On the fourth time the Black Screen of Death was vanquished, music playing and sanity stabilizing. The ios 26.4.1 update seems quirky which can't help. RP interface seems to be working well now.
