Stop me if I've told you this one before, but my all time favourite conspiracy theory, undefeated since it was told to me by a senior religion major in Uni, was about Jesus.
The setup is that the bible talks about his birth, a bit as a young boy, and then nothing until he shows up as an adult and gets crossways with the Jewish authorities and Romans alike. So what happened in the intervening years?
The theory is that he joined a caravan of traders from the east and went to India where he proceeded to study yoga. Particularly the stuff where you are able to control your body like the temperature of your hands, slow your heart rate to nothing, etc. I forget which branch that is. See where this is going?
So Jesus comes back, does his preaching thing and gets crucified. There up on the cross, he stops his heart until the pull him down and stuff him in a cave. He revives himself, pushes the boulder out of the way, and heads down the road. Meets his disciples, says goodbye, and pisses off back to India.
