Mulling a New Mexico/West Texas trip for next spring as well. Though Mrs Miser doesn't seem to be too enthusiastic about it right now. May have to "settle" for Smokey Mtn wildflowers instead.

Last year's eclipse trip (first week of April) the endless miles of flowers on the way to Austin was a highlight of the trip.

Depends on the rain we get during the Winter/ early Spring.

Baja is super green/lush right now. So the purple flowers are about 3 weeks behind, should be perfect timing.  It's really cool to see the desert landscape transform to vibrant colors.  At our place the humming birds are out in full force right now (also the scorpions...).

I've been there a few times.
When the shows are inside... way too much volume for me. The outside stage is way better IMHO.
I did see Son Volt inside... and it was great.

Some really famous people have performed there.
Even Paul McCartney a few years back.

Cool. I figured it was somewhere in your neck of the woods. My friend said it was one of the coolest places they'd played.

I was born in Alta Bates.  I am sure that I rode my bike by your house a couple of times, too.  I lived on Carmel Ave off of Solano, on Modoc between Solano and Marin and up on Cragmont by Shasta Rd.  I took a spin around the map and saw that the Jr high I went to has been renamed from Garfield to MLK.  Both my Dad and I went to that school and I'm pretty sure we both went to Thousand Oaks Elementary.  My Dad went to HS with Billy Martin of the Yanks and actor Robert Culp.

Hope to get back one more time before I kick.  Haven't been back since 74.

Swami's in Encinitas.  Never actually went out there.  Stopped many a time looking at the break on the way down to SD, but never caught it working.  Usually ended up down at Cardiff / Tamarack beach, a pretty reliable break.

It's on a really deep lot.

Down that driveway there's a garage/one bedroom rental unit. There's small basement under that building that was a wonderland for the grandkids. It was primarily wine storage, and was where Papa made red wine vinegar in a wood barrel. Behind the garage was his prolific garden. Ahh, such great memories.
