No need to drive to Lockhart (unless you want the road trip - which we have done a couple of times), when it's the same Black's that's on Guadalupe!
We had some leftover Franklin's and I don't know that that's the best way to go: stand in line and eat it hot, you bet. Would drive the hour out to Cooper's in Llano again, because it was great and the experience was too. Filled with regret that we didn't get twice as much brisket...
Total Agreement. Go for the food, not Austin Hollywood. However, just a few miles S.E. of A .... The Original Black's BBQ opened its doors in 1932 in Lockhart, TX as a meat market. Still going strong. Effin unbelievable brisket. Won't eat any other. I want that memory to remain until I go again. *and the chorus sings*
Franklin's if you've got the time for the experience; otherwise, either Black's (on Guadalupe) or Terry Black's (on Barton Springs) are good. And, yes, the two different Black's barbecue joints are from the same family, but split after some family drama - you'd be surprised how often that happens.

Agreed. Franklin's is an experience in addition to excellent bbq. The Black's are best for just going for the food. You're in for a treat.
