My thinking was, If it's over a grand please let it be under 2 grand. I need it for my job so i'm ok with under 2 grand. Not happy, but ok.
Got a call from the garage...appraisal is close to a grand. Emergency brake locked and cooked the pads. But the car didn't feel sluggish and only made noises occasionally. So i probably ran it for 2 1/2 hrs after i first heard the noise. Oh well. It is what it is. Now i need a stiff one.

Oh, man. Two days ago, one of my pro bono freelance gigs handed me two Benjamins because it's coming into the holidays and I work for free but they take care of me a little. Yesterday JFW had a flat tire and I had to buy two new tires so on the bright side, I'm only down net $75.

Great story there.

Yes.
I wrote a letter to my first grade teacher a couple of weeks ago. We still correspond off and on because my mom and her became friends way back.
My mom even played cupid between her and my dad's brother back in '61. That didn't work out.
She sent me a card on Halloween and that compelled me to give her an update.
I even sent her flowers on last Valentines Day. She was my first teacher crush.

I prefer not writing in ink and paper because I really have to pay attention and not make mistakes.
But she likes the handwritten letters. In the last letter, I told her I was thankful for her teaching some basic principles I still use today.
She's 91 years old.

Nice...cool post actually.

I have just returned from another trip to Valencia.
I urge everyone to make a trip to Spain if only to see how beautifully designed modern buildings can be - in places like Germany and Italy and Netherlands modern buildings are in large part just the same square boxes of varying heights with outer skins of different textures and patterns.
In Spain you will see curves and shapes not seen everywhere. And then there is the food, and the good-looking people. When a waitress moves and looks like a super-model one cannot help but tip generously.

The point of this post however is to mention that on my return my new fountain pen was awaiting unboxing.
It's a broad Lamy Safari, in burgundy, so not a Rolls-Royce but a good, reliable entry-level Mercedes Benz.
It's a delight to write with...and takes me back many years to when my daily-driver was a Royal blue Schaeffer with a nib that I modded to a width of about 1mm. It was as smooth as Cornish cream to work with, made a full A4 page of writing look like a document of major historical importance, and somehow seemed to make me want to write stuff.
It was not an economical tool in terms of ink consumption, though.

Bottles of sepia, carbon black and shimmering deep lilac ink are on their way...
