Well she got her daddy's car
And she cruised through the hamburger stand now
Seems she forgot all about the library
Like she told her old man now
And with the radio blasting
Goes cruising just as fast as she can now

And she'll have fun, fun, fun
Till her daddy takes the t-bird away
(Fun, fun, fun till her daddy takes the t-bird away)

Well the girls can't stand her
'Cause she walks, looks, and drives like an ace now
(You walk like an ace now, you walk like an ace)
She makes the Indy 500 look like a Roman chariot race now
(You look like an ace now, you look like an ace)
A lotta guys try to catch her
But she leads them on a wild goose chase now
(You drive like an ace now, you drive like an ace)

And she'll have fun, fun, fun
Till her daddy takes the t-bird away
(Fun, fun, fun till her daddy takes the t-bird away)

Well you knew all along
That your dad was gettin' wise to you now
(You shouldn't have lied now, you shouldn't have lied)
And since he took your set of keys
You've been thinking that your fun is all through now
(You shouldn't have lied now, you shouldn't have lied)

But you can come along with me
'Cause we gotta a lot of things to do now
(You shouldn't have lied now, you shouldn't have lied)

And we'll have fun, fun, fun now that daddy took the t-bird away
(Fun, fun, fun now that daddy took the t-bird away)
And we'll have fun, fun, fun now that daddy took the t-bird away
(Fun, fun, fun now that daddy took the t-bird away)
(Fun, fun now that daddy took the t-bird away)
(Fun, fun now that daddy took the t-bird away)
(Fun, fun now that daddy took the t-bird away)
(Fun, fun now that daddy took the t-bird away)
(Fun, fun now that daddy took the t-bird away)

Just the kind of music we need to blow away the Covid blues!!!

BillG paired this BB track with AC/DC's "It's a Long Way to the Top" which was fantastic if not unexpected.....the only other place I've heard the Beach Boys and then AC/DC is at my house with my playlist....crazy shit really....LLRP!!

History repeats! That was fun. LLRP!!

A song about America when it was Great?

When this was released -- JFK had been shot previous year, the Vietnam war was raging, and there were riots and protests across America for equality and peace. Maybe some thought it was Great.
A song about America when it was Great?
God Damn these guys (Brian) are soooo good!
My bro-in-law had one of these, in metallic Spanish Moss green, with black tuck and roll  leather interior and wire mag wheels, in the late sixties/early seventies. He let me take it out on my own a lot in my late teens, and it was effing awesome to, for example, drive down Greek row at the U of Oregon and see all the frat boys salivating. And just hella fun to drive in general. At the same time, my sister, his wife, had a white 63 E-type Jag (XKE), that she was also very generous about letting me drive on my own. Took the Jag up to 145 once (with 3 passengers), at which point its wing-like aerodynamics threatened to lift the front wheels right off the road. I never so much as scratched either of them. They were VERY different from each other. The T-bird was obviously assembled from Ford parts bins, and vibrated lots under acceleration and at speed, while the Jag was all of a piece. Smooth and sure, and a sweet driving experience. I count myself as incredibly lucky to have had those parallel opportunities and generosities. Good times, baby!

I was hoping for Chuck Berry.
Great segue from  Joe Marsala Three  O'Clock Jump! Long Live Radio Paradise!
It seems like there is thematic tie to Josh Ritter's Getting Ready To Get Down played a track before.
I just wish I could harmonize like these guys. Just once.

And, once again, followed by It's a Long Way to the Top - wish I'd discovered this station 20 years ago rather than three months!!!
Thank you Bill. Perfect way to start the day....
Classic Beach stuff. 8

Excellent follow up would be: Tame Impala - Elephant.

Edit: The White Stripes — Seven Nation Army from the album Elephant LOL.

They're known for the Surf Ballads but my faves were always the love songs to the cars; 409, Little Deuce Couple, Shut Down. Vrooooom!
Surf's up!
THE HD SLIDES ARE GREAT!

Have to remember it was written at a time where people didn't need no brains.
Such a painful ear worm...
{#Devil_pimp}zesty! pure Americana
Brian Wilson and Charlie Manson, who knew?
Could have been a 7, could have been a 10.  Depends on the mood and the weather.  Today is was a 10, right song, right mood, right day.
Cool… where is my surfboard now? {#Sunny}

Screw all the naysayers!  Makes me feel just as good as it did when I was 14 (in 1964).  It's simple, naive, & I love hearing some non-angsty riffs now & again😜

 gotta love it..  {#Dancingbanana}

It seems you may have taken a wrong turn on your browser dial because you have landed on the wrong channel.

Yes, more Beachboys please.  {#Bananajam}

And that's why you have a PSD button

as a 10 year old boy in 1964 i thought the Beach Boys were some kind fake band before i knew fake bands actually existed

Skrillex as rock and roll? Korn, maybe, but you think of them in the same head and heart as the Beach Boys?
I think you oughta maybe change the channel.
I saw Brian Wilson a few years ago and he was underwhelming but his band (including the Wondermints) kick ass on these old songs. It really felt great to have these songs so loud and so well played. I've never seen the Beach Boys in any incarnation but except for seeing the famous guys, I don't think they'd be better than what was essentially a tribute band.
I'm just loving this after Josh Ritter's "Getting Ready to Get Down"
