Self-help and self-aware
Self-made millionaire
Turn it up and tone it down
Entertain like a f***ing clown

Self-image and self-belief
Selfish acts between the sheets
Self has no sense of tact
Self is too self-detached

We are self, the self that loves itself now
We are self, I only see myself now

Self-absorbed and self-obsessed
If not me then someone else
Self sees a billion stars
But still can only self-regard

We are self, the self that loves itself now
We are self, I only see myself now

(I am the universe)

We are self, the self that loves itself now
We are self, I only see myself now
We are self, the self that loves itself now
We are self, I only see myself now

Anyone who thinks Trump  and his supporters represent the dark side really need to pay attention to exactly who it is who is trying to take him down.

"Take him down?" You mean finally hold him accountable for the illegal, fraudulent, abusive, shyster actions he's been getting away with for the past several decades? Not to mention his involvement in the insurrection that 800 people have either been convicted or plead guilty for? It is REPUBLICANS of his own party that are now coming out and exposing his treasonish scams.

People who ARE paying attention are seeing him for the self-absorbed, lying, fraudulent scum bag he is. He stated publicly he would suspend the constitution and entertain the idea of becoming America's dictator. Republicans are illegally attempting to alter election outcomes in all battleground states as a power grab. They have no agenda that represents the values, plans, hopes, prosperity and health of the American people -- that's about as dark as it gets.

Dang it.  Missed this new Steve Wilson.
But I'm sure there will be a next time on RP

This led well into
Bach Toccata in D Minor
E. Power Biggs  Organ

Not the best SW I've heard.
Give it a 7
Maybe I'll change my mind

I don't know who "is trying to take him down", nor why they might better represent the dark side than the lying, anti-democratic fraudster/conman Trump.  Perhaps you could enlighten us/me?
GREAT TUNE!!  I like all of his work, except his YES re-mixes.  He butchered YES!

this is kind of cool.

i agree.
Porcupine Tree's latest album C/C  (Closure/Continuation) is excellent.  Figures among the top 3 Porcupine Tree according to many fans.

Well worth multiple spins if that music appeals.

The tour that started in 2022 continues later this summer in Europe.  It has been very well received.  The concert in Santiago, Chile was just mind blowing for the energy.

Indeed, A great deception is at hand

*uck* is what you're looking for.
ouch... censored lyrics.
What's up with the edit?
Thank you BillG for playing this absolute banger! It's a departure from earlier Steven Wilson albums, but that's what I love about him - he's a bona fide chameleon, and he kills it in every genre he tries.

The video for this is very cool, and creepy, which I like. But in the context of the song it's confusing as to what he's trying to say, seeing as his face is the one that takes up most of the time there. Seems like he's shitting on everyone else but himself. I also don't understand his choice(or director's choice) of 'celebrities' to feature. Of course he opens it up with half the country's favorite whipping boy. So noble.

He's singing about Self and includes himself is how it sounds to me. And the "Self-made millionaire" - a concept. You may be referring to someone who has not self-made anything but his larger than life ego.

Not growing on you - they're growing in you.

Steven Wilson is the person who remastered (most of) the Jethro Tull catalog - and made things sound so much better. Aqualung, in particular is transformed.
I thought this was Flight of the Conchords!

Each to their own. It's one of my favorites from him.

This (or Hand. Cannot. Erase.) is my favorite Steven Wilson solo album. So of course, he's not going to tour to support it.

Thank You! Thanx to RP, Porcupine Tree is now one of my favorite bands!  OMG, I just read the Wiki, and he has worked with some of my favorite bands, & on some of my favorite albums!!!
Excellent!!!

The refrain sounds a lot like 'AF's' song 'Reflektor'.
I still give this a Thumbs Up

Great stuff here

Reflektor.

I went and looked/listened.  Interesting song.  Not hard to imagine David Bowie liking this.

But Self as "straight up" Arcade Fire is a big, big stretch.

I have been with him since Deadwing.  Ate up all the back catalogue.  Got schooled as he went deep into new metal and esoteric long form in his solo career, and learned to love it.  But this doesn’t take me anywhere.
I Like it. - One of the best Rock Albums this year.
I noticed the lyric and the word actually sung by the artist were censored. I don't recall hearing the censor before. Are all the songs censored?

He remastered a Yes album and, though it's 'cleaned up", it's lost all its soul.

Reflektor!
Why do you censor music?
STOP.
Please.
Please stop yourself.
I thought I'd misheard Arcade Fire's, Reflektor for a moment
Check out live dvd Porcupine Tree Arriving Somewhere. Play LOUD
this is a good album, like his remasters also
Wilson, just keeps getting better. I like this, but the sentiment is a little painful. Honestly, the kids are all right, they are!
I really like this album. My first listen to his music. Has been putting out a lot of re-mastered prog, tull in particular
it definitely grows on you. The RP music vibe. the one thing we can agree on, RP has the best audio quality

I was just going to post....how, 1st time SW, Bill mentioned watching vid closely....it is SOOO cool!!! Thnx Bill!! LLRP!

I tought it was Arcade Fire
I love the new album!
Not sure if I'd go there, but it is considerably different.  Reminds me of what Bowie did.  Mixed things around a bit throughout his accomplished career.  Ich glaube nicknt wrote:

Fame..makes a man take things over..
reminds me a bit of "Numb" off U2's Zooropa. Think the Edge did the vocals on that
Cult of Personality would make a good segway next time this is played

so disappointing.

Great to hear new SW, but why bowdlerise the lyrics?  We're all grown-ups (most of us anyway).

After hearing this one, I agree with HonduranRed's comment.
Not a big fan of the jam - but the message is potent.
Nice to hear this , much hoopla about how Steven haven"sold out to pop" I think its fine might even grow on me.
Hope he makes a killing with it
Talent like his deserves to get recognition
Not a die hard fan but appreciate his many studio  works in front and behind the board.
Got a pretty creepy video to go along with the song...
His new stuff doesn't hold me at all.  I'll pass, I think.
Looks like SW made an album of songs he wanted to hear. Quite selfish :-)

Not big on the jam on this one, but the message seems to be spot on...It’s like the 1980’s all over again😐
Nice
New SW - woo hoo!

Sounds like he's branching out on this cut - me likey
