Drying in the colour of the evening sun
Tomorrow's rain will wash the stains away
But something in our minds will always stay
Perhaps this final act was meant
To clinch a lifetime's argument
That nothing comes from violence and nothing ever could
For all those born beneath an angry star
Lest we forget how fragile we are
On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are how fragile we are
On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are how fragile we are
How fragile we are how fragile we are
Kudo Bill
Sting played this song on September 11 in 2001 in Tuscany, Italy. He would have had best reason to cancel the concert but he didn't and I think he was right in doing so. Whenever I hear this song I remember 9/11 and I think it will be like this until the end of my days.
"It's hard for all of us, I'm angry, I'm confused, I'm scared and I don't want to give any meaning to this senseless act of violence. We sing this song for all those who have lost their lives." That was his message
Yeah, same here. I remember this well.
It was an incredibly suitable ending of a terrible day.

Arguably his best post-Police song, up there with "Fields of Gold".

It's a beautiful song in it's own right but even more poignant during the September 11 performance. Makes me pause in the beauty and message.

Where has it been for 21 years since RP is live??
Very easy 1o here, thanks for the music!
An 8 from me (for now), but I can certainly see how some folks could rate this at 9 or 10. It really is a fine piece of work.
