Can we be there
Oh, just think of the time
Thought of love so strange
Said you never knew
While I try my best
To cover our eyes
It's a common way to blame and hide the truth

I know that some will say it matters but little babe
But, come on and mean it to me
I need it so bad

I needed to try
I need to fall
I needed your love I'm burning away
I need never get old

Taking our time ah just standing in the rain
Meaning what you said ah and mean it to me
All of these lies oh and never again
Come on and say it now say it's a game

I know that some will say it maters but little babe
Come on and mean it to me I need it so bad
Mean it to me I need it so bad

I needed to try
Needed to fall
I needed your love I'm burning away
I need never get old

They put in a great live show.

I had to come check that this wasn't a Motown banger from the 1960s.. Did these guys record the song at Capitol Records and use their famous echo chamber ?

Had to do exactly the same thing - same energy, same sound
This song  "need never get old"
They might have caught lightning in a bottle with this but that doesn't mean it ain't a lot of fun.

there is.
Why does this remind me of an Elvis song? Not his voice, just the music.
i like his jewelry a lot.

**EDIT 1 week later 8/4/23 - we're hearing this daily. it was just playing yesterday. i really dig it, his sound, his band, but it's going to get old fast hearing it so often...
Love this band.   Saw them this year (2023) and they blew the house down. Just great musicianship and... FUN.  Great horn section!

They are a lot of fun to see live. A lot energy in their performance.
A good  (not great) tune, but it was played just yesterday.  Come on.

Dancing in my chair. A 10 for me!
Best album cover of the year! Love the horns, crank it up!
Absolutely superb official video goes along with this song....
7.3? more like 3.7!
Excellent! I never heard of them before. Thank You RP!

Yup!!  But what a great wake-up song!!!

Yeah nah.
Was thrilled to hear this pop up on the playlist today. We need a heckin' ton more music from these guys on RP.
tub-thumping excellence!
What a gas!!!
My kids and I freaking love this song! It's so happy!

Yes!  More from this great album, please!
Fantastic stuff!
horrible album cover
Never heard of these guys- gonna make up for lost time!! 9
Any song that can get me bouncing off my chair at least 6 inches when I'm chair-dancing deserves a "10" in my humble opinion - and that gets tougher to do when you pass 64.
Reminds me a bit of The Commitments, and that's a good thing.
Now that Iā€™m getting older Iā€™m hearing more bands and I definitely like this one
Sleeping teens in house gonna hate on me, but gotta crank it. Every time it plays. Or else.
Good to hear a lead singer with ATTITUDE!  I bet they're fun live.

Agreed - good tune for the office to get the body moving.

Rateliff is from Hermann MO which is not too far from where I grew up near Fulton. We had a small farm out there and we would get our pigs & cows slaughtered in Hermann, at a butcher's shop named Heberle's.
Mmmm, I still remember the summer sausage we'd get from there. Fond memories of getting fat in mid-MO.
Love this band!  Had me doing this in the office

Saw them at a sold-out show in August, and they were fantastic!

Giving it a 10. Shmelo, you need to loosen up and dance.
Schmelo might be right. Not sure what to think about this. But if it is the only roadhouse in town, I think I find myself loving it.
yeah I vaguely remember something from the 60s like this. Having a senior moment.  I really enjoy it.
Outta SIGHT. {#Crown}
I vaguely remember something like this back in the 60s, one of those songs you could sing to in the car.
Just a few short years ago these guys were poor and relatively unknown and were couch surfing around Denver.  Glad to see these home boys are doing so great now.
I gotta agree with Shmelo.  I can't believe that this is new, and it is a horrible genre to begin with.
I’d just like to hear what shemelo thinks is better
New album comes out in a couple of weeks.  Can't wait!

This voice gets me every time I hear this song on RP. In the "Dang, Dave Edmunds put out a new song?! Sweet!" way. It's a great song, but I confess to being disappointed there's no Rockpile reunion going down.

I guess growing a beard is a requirement for the job.  Denim jackets may also be.  Hats seem to be optional. They're probably a fun band to see live but I see no need to buy any of their recordings.

their video's are funny entertaining and the music, one of my favorite

Abit of lively "northern soul", as this would be known as in the north of england

This is their first album.  Rateliff did some solo stuff, but it was different than this.
I can't. Even. With this.
Thank you, PSD.

Yet another band I discovered thanks to RP. You guys are awesome.
At the intro I thought I was listening to some 1970's music.
{#Dancingbanana_2}
LOVE LOVE LOVE
Bill, I'm so glad you played this band.  Just saw them in Columbia, MO and bought their CD!  Going to see them again in St. Louis!!  Great band!!
I get a 1970's Elvis vibe. (and I like it)

I'm increasing my rating 1 point, as a reward for the effort you put into your vituperation.
Great band name. Good tune as well.
This band is all over the airwaves in "Hipster Chi." right now.
It's a specific itch, but man this really scratches it.
I don't believe I've ever heard the influence of Blue Swede before. There's some other spice in there but the aural palette fails.
This band is the real deal.
love this guys sexy smooth voice!
oh hey this sounds solid man!
"And what do you do for a living?"
"I'm a nightsweat."
"Is that the time? I just remembered I have to go."
This great stuff!!!

Well I for one am glad this didn't get thrown out to the garbage heap.  Good song with that full band arrangement sound,

saw these guys at mountain jam a couple of weekends ago, and damn they were great!  far exceeded any expectations based solely on that s.o.b. song

Loving this band. Can't wait to see them at Montreux Jazz Festival in July.
Soul power, brotha!
Glad to see this song being played.  Saw his Tiny Desk concert the other day and was impressed with Daniel and his band.
