Sunset through the trees. I can' t remember the faces I've seen.
Low and mean.
High Rise, White light, Shadows
Years in the air.
I don' t recall all the "why" or the "where" or "who was there"
Show me the Feathers you've found
The glass in the ground
A comforting sound when the lights are down.
Hillside flush with the Sunrise
Spring in the air
I cant remember a morning so fair, Not a care
Show me the Feathers you've found
The glass in the ground
A comforting sound when the lights are down.
The Birdsong, tugging on my slumber
Opens my eyes.
Slowly I am woken to find
Your hand in mine.
Show me the Feathers you' ve found,
The glass in the ground,
A comforting sound when the lights are down.
A Billboard, a Back Road, a Meadow
Sunset through the trees.
I cant recall all the faces I' ve seen
So low and mean.
The Birdsong, tugging on my slumber
Opens my eyes.
Slowly I am woken to find,
Your hand in mine.
Show me the Feathers you've found
The glass in the ground,
A comforting sound when the lights are down
This is hypnotically soothing in my ears...
ephemeral
When one gets right down to it, what isn't?
The opening riff is definitely reminiscent of Thomas Dolby's "Airwaves". Which would be a good one to hear on RP.
Indeed. Wonderful song by a wonderful artist
Salutation de Montréal (Canada)
Outstanding. I feel sorry for all the old farts in this thread who won't/can't allow themselves to let go and be mesmerized by the aural magic this guy weaves. FYI, I'm an old fart too- but I refuse to let my musical tastes calcify. Great music was made in the 70's, but also every decade since. And by great I mean Truly Great. Like this track.
How old is old? I'm 62, and love it.
Mesmerizing and unique are words that come to my mind to describe his sounds and lyrics. Would have been wonderful in the 70's. Is wonderful now!
Oh for god sakes,,,, show him the f'n feathers......
Blah....

yay for us old farts who keep finding great new artists to appreciate on their own merits hear in Radio Paradise
Thank you!
If heard in the distance, could be a Simon & Garfunkel deep cut.
Great voice, but what a sleeper...!
For Emily, wherever I may find her-ish
Showing our age. You for making the reference, me for getting it.
Old fart here. I concur. That piano riff lingers loud.
Old fart here. I love all sorts of quiet male singers. Nick Drake, Tom Rush, Paul Simon, Tim Buckley. But there's something about LaMontagne's breathy, whispery, weak stylings that make me want to break things. Too bad (for me, I suppose) because he writes well.
Amen brother.
I'm with ya, Wavemechanic. It can be so discouraging to share excellent+ music with one's contemporaries; only to find that they just no longer have those particular receptors awake to the joy!
If I have to lose essential capacities: may I please instead forget something like, how to tie my own shoes?
I thank the All for RP.
Fourthed

With AKG is not to bad too
An IPA does it for me.

Heartily seconded by Another Old Fart.

...but without the "hook", good vocals and melody
yeah, like a shitty S&G song.....that God awful "So Long Frank LLoyd Wright" for example
Thirded
Amen, my friend.
Good God, send down to the guy with the flames and pitchforks!!
If only.
Once every 3 days is hardly unusual for a very recent release. If this were a commercial station and this would be a trendy pop hit, you would hear it three times every day.
DISAGREE!!! My boys made me listen to a top 40's station is exchange for going to swim team practice and I can guarantee they have a two-hour rotation of every "hit" song!!!
And I like this too
I concur.

I love this song and the entire album, but this is one of the funniest comments I've read here.
Lay on, Macduff, and damned be him who first cries ‘Hold! enough!’”
One or two tracks on the album are a bit harsh compared to this mood, but I strongly recommend adding this to any intimate playlist.
Thanks Ray (& Bill for introducing me to almost all of my music for over 13 years!)
Either they're old farts, or kids with ADD.
please do not play this again, i just hate this song :D
I think this song is pretty good, but that's funny.

what about the comforting sound, you know like when the lights are down
If he gives me enough time to Pluck the Christmas Turkey I should be able to oblige..... Happy Xmas to all..
Yes, and PSD immediatelly.
...and just in case that is not enough, show him that glass in the ground too!
If I see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFZRcmlf-BI I would pay for that.
It's a different chord progression and different overall melody, but there are some similarities to that song and a clear similarity to the Simon & Garfunkel style in this song. Then again, there probably aren't very many contemporary acoustic guitar, singer/songwriters who are not influenced by S&G to some extent - those two guys left a pretty substantial legacy.
She found some feathers on the road L,A
met a guy just looked like from 17th century
under the sturgeon moon, who said Los! dear
you change, you change
Thank you Bill & crew.

Pass me a cigarette, I think there's one in my raincoat.
We smoked the last one an hour ago.
So we bought some more cigarettes,
Then we smoked all those cigarettes,
And walked off to look for some cigarettes...
Big tune.
Impressive.
Susie B - sound familiar?
we saw RL 2 nights ago - he did this whole album straight thru - meh
You get 5 ***** for commentary.
Yikes! This breathy blah piece must not be compared to that masterpiece!
Guess that means I should bump it to 9 then...
