Always love hearing old bobble head on RP! This got a 7 from me.

N'owt wrong with Withernsea - it isn't everywhere that you can, with a small amount of imagination and perhaps poetic licence, stand with your testicles split by the prime meridian.

If I could rate this minus 10, I would.

This is the perfect comment to reply to. Prejudice is the ignorant stepchild of racism. (Talking about me here)

I don't particularly "like" David Gray's music. His hit a few years ago was okay, and when I heard Bill introduce this song I went, "ugh".

Then, I heard the lyrics. Straightforward, hopeful, rejoicing about getting back into the world again. Perfect timing for me. After having a huge case of the "fuckits" for the past two years - post divorce - this is exactly where I'm at right now and exactly what I needed to hear. It reminded me that the dark days are over and I am strong and on the mend. Bullocks!!

Thanks, David. Cheers to ya!

Your selfless perseverance is noteworthy.

If a lot of people were naked like a tree there would certainly be dancing bananas around!

That is indeed a worthy tune — though neither of those Davids is this David.

i have always liked him a lot. has always reminded me somehow of loggins &messina. also when he first appeared, there were relatively fewer male solo singers (not fronting a band or rapping) at the time, relatively more females. like i said. i like him. bit of an introspective, folk revivalish vibe yet thank god not such confessionalist, dashboard or otherwise. i give him a lot of credit for standing out there naked like a tree.
There is no accounting for taste.  I gave it a 10, even tho the lyric, "naked like a tree, the only way to be" probably would have made it a 6, I felt it my duty to counter your vote.

I think a good adjective for the lyrics is "insipid".

What do you find strange about them? I find the metaphor quite clear and accessible. The singer is enlightening himself. All of us should open our eyes everyday.

"What rhymes with tree"?

You missed PSD

"I'm naked like a tree, the only way to be."

Really? Sucko-Barfo.

I can see the thought process. Hmm, 'the only way to be' what rhymes with 'be'? 'tea, free, ooh, how about tree?' Yes, that'll do.

PSD PSD PSD..

FINALLY old bobble head releases something new! I like it on first listen.....
Liking what I hear. Preliminary 6, but I think it's a good candidate for a 7.
YES!

Finally, stuff from this new CD, which is phenomenal! (Mutineers is my favorite track)
Off to see ya in August David... the new album sounds great!
