Faudrait voir, faut qu'on y goûte
Des méandres au creux des reins
Et tout ira bien là
Le vent nous portera
Ton message à la Grande Ourse
Et la trajectoire de la course
Un instantané de velours
Même s'il ne sert à rien va
Le vent l'emportera
Tout disparaîtra mais
Le vent nous portera
La caresse et la mitraille
Et cette plaie qui nous tiraille
Le palais des autres jours
D'hier et demain
Le vent les portera
Génétique en bandoulière
Des chromosomes dans l'atmosphère
Des taxis pour les galaxies
Et mon tapis volant dis ?
Le vent l'emportera
Tout disparaîtra mais
Le vent nous portera
Ce parfum de nos années mortes
Ce qui peut frapper à ta porte
Infinité de destins
On en pose un et qu'est-ce qu'on en retient?
Le vent l'emportera
Pendant que la marée monte
Et que chacun refait ses comptes
J'emmène au creux de mon ombre
Des poussières de toi
Le vent les portera
Tout disparaîtra mais
Le vent nous porter
[translation]
Unafraid of where the road may take me
We'll see, we'll have to savor
Twists and turns, the hollow of your back
It will be all right
The wind will take them
Your transmission to the Big Dipper
And the course of the race
An instant of soft velvet
Even if it's useless
The wind will take them
Everything passes but
The wind will carry us
Gentle kisses and machine gun bullets
And the wounds which torment us
The castles of old days
Of yesterday and today
The wind will take them
Genetics in backpacks
Chromosomes in the atmosphere
Taxis to the galaxies
And what about my magic carpet?
The wind will take it
Everything passes but
The wind will take it
The scent of lost years
Things that can come knocking
Infinite destinies
We pick one and what do we keep?
The wind will take it
While the tide rises
And each one totals up the scores
I take deep in my soul
Your remains and ashes
The wind will take them
Everything fades but
The wind will take us
I can hear some more details than before, especially in the percussion and delicate singing. Beautiful. Incredible song, incredible cover!
I don't give out 10's very often. Take a 10, Sophie.
Agreed. 10 frim me, too!
What a beautiful rendition of this Noir Desir song - straight 8 from me
8 --> 9
She is Swiss
Borders France and they speak it there.
If she is Suiss, hat means that he speaks not just German, but French and Italian, too. BTW, the song is originally French. By group Noir Desir

I actually thought the guitar riff was Reckoner by Radiohead at first. The guitar generally has a Radiohead vibe… then it ramps up to include some brass, not to mention her voice is amazing. Really loving this
I would like Radio Paradise to play the Noir Desir version of this song. It has more energy.
I cannot find it today but many years ago before Noir Desir, I heard a Russian protest song possibly by Vladimir Vysotsky that sounded very similar. Maybe Bertrand Cantat borrowed parts of it. I will have to find and run some music plagiarism software on it.
Straight to the point. My favourite version of this song.
Sorry Sophie; the original is far superior.
Maybe just different. Imagine that.
That's odd ... someone here has said that this version is better. You can't both be correct, and can't both be wrong ... now, what does THAT tell us?
It tells us (well, me anyway) that they CAN both be right seeing as it's 100% subjective.
Evocative, sensual, touching, with a caressing aromatic style.. merci...
Haters, spare us your bullshit, hit PSD and move on.
Fuck off Jelani - this is a fantastic cover…
Really? That's how you want to roll here? How about No, I won't.
You know the old saw that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover? It's the same with albums.
Not this one.
Billie Eilesh's Swiss cousin?
B E's grandmother?
French are fine with this sort of stuff. It is when they attempt to ROCK that things get ridiculous
... this a cover of a great french rock band called Noir Desir. Give a listen to their album tostaky and get yourself educated.

What is their not to like about this song? So beautiful.
This song is great. Her version, not so much.
"You message to the big bear"
There's no "big bear", it's "Big Dipper"
That's odd ... someone here has said that this version is better. You can't both be correct, and can't both be wrong ... now, what does THAT tell us?
Well, three years later, I am about to raise this from 3 to 7 . It grew on me! pxd
I"m still stuck on three, and every time I see that smarmy face and obnoxious pose on the album cover, I want to drop it to one.

To just read the words, it kinda reminds me of Billie Eilish-type writing....not necessarily having rhyme or reason, except to the writer/ singer. Very nice piece, indeed.
The words rhyme in French.
To me it's just a good cover.

I believe the translation you're commenting on is a word-for-word literal translation, lacking any of the poetry or nuance of the original text. I could be wrong, my French isn't good enough to give a more poetic translation.
Heartbreaking !
This song is a monument. Should also take a look at the official video clip by Noir Désir and its explanation (the different phases of life)
Beautiful song and great interpretation - in French - from a German speaking lady.
I don't think this is in the lyric...
I thought this was the original...I enjoy both versions - different moods, both stand up well
Souffle et vent ... non ??
Souffle et vent ... non ??
Pointless.
Lovely voice....period!!
The Wind Will Carry Us
Not necessily....could be, any myriad of reasons behind this specific posture/stance....
So let shall see, shall taste
Some windings in hollow of the kidneys
And all will be right there
The wind wil carry us
You message to the big bear
And the path of my run
An instantaneous of velvet
Even if it is useless
The wind will carry the day
All will disappear but
The wind will carry us
The caress and the grape shot
And this wound which tugs us
The palace of others days
Of yesterday and tomorrow
The wind will carry theim
Genetic in shoulder strap
Some chromosoms in atmosphere
Some taxis for the galaxies
And my flying carpet tell me ?
The wind will carry it
This perfume of our dead years
Those who can knock at your door
Infinity of destiny
We put one
And what do we retain of it ?
The wind will carry the day
While the tide mounts
and everybody make again his counts
I bring to the hollow of my shadow
Some dusts of you
The wind will wear theim
All will disappear but
The wind will carry us

Just......WOW.
Me too !
My sense, this is very important and beautifull that this version was made by a woman with a so soft voice... Bertrand Cantat did too much in the way of a violent scream...
Moi aussi! Maintenant, je dois aller sur YouTube pour Noir Désir!!

what a dumb comment... you must be one of those who suddenly hear no genius in Michael Jackson's music since the accusation of pedophilia. It's sad not to be able to make a difference between the singer and the man, neither Bertrand Cantat nor Michael Jackson are promoting bad behaviours in their songs. Criticise Hitler for his writing and lack of literary skills in addition to his disgusting ideas but leave singers with talent sing.
Trenchant, not dumb at all. I'm with Fred 100% on this one. Very glad to hear this ethereal cover that takes this song back.
Maybe, maybe not, but at least Sophie Hunger isn't loaded with the violent baggage of Noir Désir, more specifically Bernard Cantat. This is a good cover which adds a certain atmosphère to the song.

Thanks for playing french music on RP

Would also bet that the Berlin music scene is very cool.
agreed
I do really love the original but this is really good and despite what has been said below, I thing this cover does bring something additional.
I'm maybe not as angry as you bro, but I'm with you - this is somehow a completely unneccesary song/cover. So boring and pretentious and meh.
La bonne femme a une belle voix.
Surely you aren't that narrow.
Here are 3 totally different French artists that can be heard on RP
Francis Cabrel
Jean Michel Jarre
Claude Debussy
There are more. Just do not have the time to look them up.
All 2 of them??????
???
Magma
What is their not to like about this song? So beautiful.
This version too sombre and melancholy for me. The original has a more optimisitc yearning feeling
