Sittin' at a tiny table
In a ritzy restaurant
She was starin' at her coffee cup
He was tryin' to keep his courage up
By applying booze
The talk was small
When they talked at all
They both knew what they wanted
There was no need to talk about it
They were old enough to scoff it out
And keep it loose
She said, you don't look like my type
But I guess you'll do
Third rate romance
Low rent rendezvous
He said, I'll even tell you
That I love you
If you want me to
Third rate romance
Low rent rendezvous

And they left the bar
They got in his car
And they drove away
He drove to the Family Inn
She didn't even have to pretend
She didn't know what for
Then he went to the desk
And made his request
While she waited outside
And he came back with the key
And she said, give it to me
And I'll unlock the door
She kept sayin'
I've never really done
This kind of thing before
Have you
Third rate romance
Low rent rendezvous
And he said, yes I have
But only a time or two
Third rate romance
Low rent rendezvous
Third rate romance
Low rent rendezvous
Third rate romance
Low rent rendezvous

I'm always amazed by how accurate the rating descriptions are on here... This isn't "Most excellent", but it's certainly "Quite likable". Reminds me of listening to AM radio in my dad's old truck...

Me, too.  "Yes, I have, but only a time or two."
Good God, no, Bill.  This is as bad as it gets.  Well, no, actually, "Roxanne" is as bad as it gets.  But this is a really, really close second.

It's too soon.

Too funny!  {#Angel}

This song haunts me.  I heard it on a K-Tel record when I was in my low digits.  Please burn every copy of this track that lives in existence.  Thx in advance.

Saw these guys at the "Jolly Troll" Holton, Ks. 1977...will never forget it.

May this be the first and last.
I remember this from my record store days.  They had a couple pretty good albums.
country comedy, conjures up such a picture at the motel, "Yes but,only a time or Two" {#Devil_pimp}
This cut is the very apotheosis of rockabilly, bar-pickup ballads.  An 8.
Very cool.  The whole album worked (at least it did then).
Fond memories! Love this song!
I flashed back to late 70's WLIR and the times this was often played along side of The New Riders of the Purple Sage, the Dead and other such bong shop flavored beauties
Have always liked it
