Sheesh!, the short attention span of folks these days is hard to handle. "I'll die if I am forced to listen thru this 3 minute song to get to the next one." Boo-hoo. Oh... the drama.
Y'know, the freedom of choice is powerful, Beth writes well and has a pleasant voice but her vocal stylings are a pain to many.
And then, just when I was going to opine further, His Bobness hoved into view.
Enhhhh.

Great drumming
To me, she often conjures dreamy Nick Drake-like atmospheres within her songs. That's a very, very good thing!

Some people have yet to work out that they are not 'forced' to listen to any choon ( Bill gives us the 'skip' button) - but yet feel compelled to listen & say (and vote) why bad it is ...
I'm from Europe, so maybe a little more 'open' to different styles and origins of music - it gives me genuine pleasure to know that not all the US is 'philistine'.
As an addendum - I rarely down-vote, but Bill does take the piss sometimes ...

Do you think Daedalus finally realizes she isn't doing a vibrato, but more a yodel?
I love Beth. Nice song from the back of the rack, unfortunately spoiled IMHO by the segue to Dylan.
Her style in this song is so far from a natural vibrato that it's really irritating.
Sorry for those who like it, but all opinions are valid (apart from the insulting ones), and it would be pretty tedious reading if every comment was " Oooh lovely !"
I love this station and respect the eclectic nature of the selection.
Part of the pleasure is being able to express our opinions - which along with the ratings hopefully have some bearing on the playlist.

this song got my attention right away. Immediate 7 with room to move up. Funny how her music elicits such strong responses, positive and negative. I always like her voice even is i don't necessarily like the song.

Although these vocals may be a bit contrived, I love the quality of her voice and most of her songs.
The album was recorded in Portland, OR , so naturally I really like this song.
It's ok when she's not singing.
^ Joke!
There's a quaver in her voice which is quite endearing and gives it a certain character, quite like this.

liking all this stuff from the new beth orton cd. missed her.
The more I listen to this album, the more I like it.
It's not got as many catchy riffs as some of her earlier albums, yet I like it as much. While the production is less complicated (no electronica), the tunes themselves are more sophisticated, more mature.
Good stuff.

I'm glad to hear some new music from Beth!
Glad to hear some tunes off of Beth's new album on here.
Glad she's back making music.
