Swinging in the backyard
Pull up in your fast car
Whistling my name
Open up a beer
And you say, Get over here
And play a video game
I'm in his favourite sun dress
Watching me get undressed
Take that body downtown
I say you the bestest
Lean in for a big kiss
Put his favourite perfume on
Go play a video game
It's you, it's you, it's all for you
Everything I do
I tell you all the time
Heaven is a place on earth with you
Tell me all the things you want to do
I heard that you like the bad girls
Honey, is that true?
It's better than I ever even knew
They say that the world was built for two
Only worth living if somebody is loving you
Baby, now you do
Singing in the old bars
Swinging with the old stars
Living for the fame
Kissing in the blue dark
Playing pool and wild darts
Video games
He holds me in his big arms
Drunk and I am seeing stars
This is all I think of
Watching all our friends fall
In and out of Old Paul's
This is my idea of fun
Playing video games
It's you, it's you, it's all for you
Everything I do
I tell you all the time
Heaven is a place on earth with you
Tell me all the things you want to do

What a shitload of opinionated bs comments. Watch the RP opinion police stumble in lorem ipsums and have a laugh.
I liked to come here and say "wonders" of all the songs that play here. But it is impossible. This is the most tedious and boring music I've heard in recent times. The alleged "popularity" in relation with this, can only be explained by the massification of music and propaganda machine that drives and promotes the music business, and that "manufactures" artists like sardine cans. This also explains many of the "Nominated" and "Won" Awards. The problem here is that not all young girls who dream of being "singers" can really be. This young girl, would not pass the competition of "idols".
Obviously this my "critical eye" has nothing to do with the person themselves, this lovely young woman, who I believe to be Lana Del Rey, but only with the artistic proposal she presents (and in this sense my critical view should be considered realistic, constructive and positive, when compared and respect to other major Artists who are in the music world).
And, so do not know if it would be wiser to concentrate exclusively on activity related to the fashion world, the passerelles, the fashion, which could shine given their explicit concern with the aesthetic appearance of the body.
And let the music for those artists who are dedicated to the art of body and soul.
Also say, that in recent times, we have seen the rise in the field of music, the artists of the 7th art (actor-movies), including actors have lasting considerable career.
While considering the right, and free will, what one chooses to do at some point in his artistic life, it is also legitimate to audiences (consumer), to determine whether the acceptance and merit, which derive from these approaches.
Also apply the same rule here: let the music for those who engage in this activity, full body, genuinely, heart and soul.
And not as an accessory and artistic impetus momentary and fleeting.
I also think that these approaches are rarely relevant and successful.

This is most-definitely a Ho Hum...
I just came on to RP and heard this... was instantly depressed. Then I gave it a generous listen. Hate pretty much everything about it.
Judge the song, people. Cut the crap!

Great string of songs right now btw Bill and Rebecca. Just have to love RP for all the great music and all the new stuff they keep coming up with. And the combinations that makes me want to check out some songs I would otherwise just ignore. Thanks!
Job #1 for any publicist of any pop star out there is to manage wikipedia.
Her dad is an internet mogul and she has the best talent money can buy.
No thanks.
4 to a 2 as I'm bucking the trend of this actually improving in the ratings

Okay, The Black Keys I can sort of go along with. They're over-exposed on commercial radio, but they're at least talented artists.
But this insipid, marginally-talented twit? On RP? Have I gone to sleep and awakened in "Upside Down World"?
No more please. I only get to listen to RP for a couple of hours a week on Sunday, and I don't want to hear Axl Rose's girlfriend coming out of my speakers.

OK, so she just stands there and sings, shows no emotion, and there is something wrong with that? sometimes i like to just listen to the song, not be distracted by dancing and fancy costumes. lately i have seen that commercial radio is beginning to sound like RP, and it just goes to show how kool it is here, and how we are the trend right now. i have been with RP since the very beginning and it keeps getting better. Bill and Rebecca, you rule!!

beautiful, touching women voices today.. thank You
Lana's sound is starting to connect with me. I hope some day she will be able to be just a singer, rather than a lightening rod.
(Maybe Aimee Mann can save her from the ranks of the freaks who suspect they could never love anyone ...)

It'll be interesting to see how this all pans out. I tend to dig in my heels when bombarded with PR work about the brilliance of a new star ("Lady Gaga!" Mercifullly those hype and media stunts have stopped for now).

Lana's definitely a product of a music label/ad campaign. Beautiful woman, very limited singing abilities, no persona or schtick. And this song is a collection of pop-music cliches.
Maybe she'll produce some great music. But there has to be better young talent out there than this.

Love the song. I also love the fact that she's different. She reminds me of Adele in a way.

definetely: yes! love the song. but hate the mainstreamer's ubiquitous hype around this song. even on tv here, you won't escape from it.

I like her. She's different.
Saw her on American Idol last week. Rather boring, I must say. Don't know why she's so popular. Show some emotion, maybe.

Would it kill her to show a bit of emotion? Same monotone sound as the other tune on rotation. Going to try the PSD function on the beta site.

Nah, it's not really that, since I was in my early 20s when that show started to suck. This song's okay, however.

This song is on EVERY single radio station. It's a good song but seriously overkill at this stage.

So many better new artists out there than this over-hyped collagen lip injected wannabe "gangster Nancy Sinatra".
Anyone out there familiar with Hunger Games in addition to the Lana Del Rey song? Take a look at this Second City sendup. One of the funniest videos I have ever heard. Hard to listen to Video Games in quite the same way after playing this a few times.

I'm trying to hate her like a car wreck, but I find her voice appealing, her music somewhat interesting, and I still can't turn away when I drive by. I'm not buying her mp3s, just can't join in the hate.
I quite like this.

I know next to nothing of these things (that's her on the album cover, right? and someone said she did poorly on SNL, yeah?) and I found the song OK the first several times I heard it. Now with a few too many listenings, I find the lyrics a bit vapid and that plucked string triplet to be obnoxious (plink plink plink) in it's overuse (plink plink plink), but otherwise the song is still OK. A solid 5 by my reckoning.
The question is - if you heard this song and knew nothing of the history, character, controversy, looks, or personality of the artist, would it appeal to you?

If she can't muster any more enthusiasm for the song, I fail to see why I should have any enthusiasm for listening to it.
If she's going for a languid, ennui-ridden, opium-smoking sound, I'm afraid all she's accomplished is "bored."

Wake me when it's over.
I definitely find her easier to listen to without having to watch her.... I don't care for the persona she has created and portrays for her live performance.
wel, that's it: I heard it first last August, long before I saw a photo of her, saw the (terrible) video, her appearance on Later, SNL etc etc. And I love it. And it's getting better.
Hey, if we can't separate the artist from the art, and only listened to nice people, our iPods would be rather empty.

For me, it's a certain type of mood music but the melody is nice and I'm sure I'd be appealing to me after repeated listenings. That's all I care about.
