Before she hits the ground
She's going to want to explore
Never step aside
Never run and hide

She holds it all up under
That pretty head of hers oh
It comes screaming out
In an electric shout

She's the worst thing
I've been addicted to

Oh no
Oh no
Oh no
I run right back
Run right back to her
I'm going to jump the track
I run right back I'm sure

I run right back to her
I run right back to her
I run right back to her

Well she's a special thing
She doesn't read too much oh
There is no doubt
She's written about

Finest exterior
She's so superior, Ohh
But she wont allow
And I want it now

She's the worst thing
I've been addicted to

Ah no
Oh no
Oh no
I run right back
Run right back to her
I'm going to jump the track
I run right back I'm sure
I run right back to her

I run right back to her
I run right back to her

Oh yeah-yeah

Her time will come.  And she probably won't be as hip as you.
Loved it when it came out and today,  at 68 (almost) years old, still love it.
Solid 9
there is that one bar where you can get the best gin tonic collection in town and a lot of nice friendly men / women around... and that irish barman pushed in "el camino" at midnight and play it loud, louder and louder... the rest is very private storytelling :-)))))))
Very very interesting. Ce mélange rythmique animal-cité et cette guitare juste sublime. J'adore le son de ce groupe et leur talent

One of the most interesting group of the moment. I LOVE !!!! Partulary the duo drum-guitar

                              Dan Auerbach channels Russell DaShiell on this {#Cheesygrin}

Good for you TILFAN, love early jazz, I have couple hundred albums and more CDs Oscar, Duke and Ella, Sarah Ray etc.  Classical takes a lot more concentration but it has the widest range of instruments and far more complicated than R&R.  Expand your mind.
The Black Keys regret that their song was played immediately after one by Steve Miller.

I am starting to hear it now that you mention it...

Another one of the 50+ contingent (ignore the user name!) who love the Black Keys..  esp the references back to 70's glam rock...

Both bands caught my attention and I have tolerance and mild fondness for both but the trend toward folk is a bit too rapid for my ears lately. I have been taking refuge in some old jazz (Miles, Coleman Hawkins, Oscar Peterson), classical, and of course RP.
Kind of Jeff Lynne ish?

Dude, he played it again the next night. Dude.

3/15/14 edit: Bill, you are seriously over-playing this song and its wah-wah chicken guitar sound. Familiarity breeds contempt followed by homicidal thoughts.

Please, skip to the next track.
simply horrible!
these folks are not aging well....
This is mediocre at best. Not saying too much for mediocre.
This album is the best. Interesting to note how their first album was so raw and pure and this one (produced by Danger Mouse) was a little highly-produced -- but still very good stuff. I hope they don't lose that edge.
Really like this band... This is the 50something thread, right?

You get the anecdote of the day award! Don't worry about it. We all get older - little miss smarty-pants will, too. I hope she stays as interesting and fun as you are, as she goes through life!

Good music to have the party going. But then again I am 50+ and my friends stopped buying new music in the eighties. So I guess I have my own party.
Love it.

70's style guitar/drums work, but with a modern feel to the vocals.

Right now, these guys can just do no wrong.
Gloriously raunchy

Yes, change the station; of course that's your right and your privilege.  But you're missing an opportunity — as are all others who use the PSD button — to practice tolerance.

Sadly, tolerance is a trait that seems to have almost completely disappeared from the planet.

C'mon, y'all!  It's three minutes of music!  Have we so little tolerance remaining that we won't even sit through three minutes of less-than-ideal music?

I like them. I like this song. But somehow, it's much better when hearing a song in between others, like here on RP, than hearing an entire album. I have this one, but an entire album is a bit much. And I don't have that quickly with other bands.
Still, to hear it here on RP, is great....

I feel exactly the same way.  That CBS Sunday Morning story gave me a whole new perspective - and respect - for these guys.  Now I'm sorry I missed the chance to see them live in a small dive somewhere.  I hate stadium shows.
gets better every time i hear it. especially late night, coming home from a kick - ass local show...hearing this keeps the momentum going.
love.

Just got this album via Amazon and a 99 cent sale they had over July 4th.  It really is good and I really am that cheap.

okay...I'm not the only one who hears that:

Quote: "What resonates is the committed simplicity of their music; the uncluttered brutal guitar and drums brings back the early southern garage blues sounds of Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker, and adds the modern eerie desert metal sounds of Queens of the Stone Age — Run Right Back has an uncanny Josh Homme darkness about it."

The backing group left the stage, leaving just 2 guys on stage to do...............what? This tune!
Damn it was good, loud, sweaty, surrounded by air guitarists - all the things R & R is supposed to be.
Damn Bill..you just played 5-6 songs in a row that you don't usually  play to death and you rocked it..thanks..
I like the band but truly feel that this whole album is burning out through overplay.

'Kinell! You sure do get value for your gig ticket ;-). Reminds me of the old footballer joke:

A player gets talent spotted by a premier league club coach while playing for a Sunday league side. He's finally about to play his first big match for the new club and the coach says, "Look, I have to warn you that you're going to get pulled off at half time." "Brilliant! At my last club all we got at half time were oranges and a sports drink."

ALBUM OF THE YEAR!

wow, it's beginning to sound like that.

Packaging and title

The vehicle on the cover is not the album's namesake, a Chevrolet El Camino (top), but rather a Chrysler Town & Country (bottom) that the duo used to tour in.

The album was named for the Chevrolet El Camino, a coupé utility car, after the duo saw it on tour and thought it would be a "cool" title.<5><11> Despite the album title, the vehicle on the cover is not an El Camino but rather a Chrysler Town & Country van that the band toured in at the beginning of their career.<11><12> "El camino" is Spanish for "the road" or "the path". The band found out the phrase's meaning after selecting it as an album title, and they joked about the record taking on deeper meaning afterwards.<11> The interior sleeve booklet for the album features images of various vans from Akron, Ohio.<11>

Got this as a present for the wife.  It's pretty good, but I preferred Brothers.
The're from Akron, Ohio, just a few miles down the road.

Not much of a Spanish influence there.  Maybe they had a flat tire in Gilroy on the old 101 or something.

I remember still seeing the bells on the side of the road that far north as a kid.

I dug my heels in and steadfastly (and mulishly) refused to like this band.  However, "El Camino," from what I've heard so far, has stuck a metaphorical crowbar into my biased and stubborn mind and pried the lid off. I think I might have to buy this CD before I get a migraine.
Ok, that's it, enough already - I'm getting the CD. This is the dog's feckin' bollox. 9 from the rockin' Nottingham jury.
 BillG wrote:

I read that "El Camino" refers to the road to success and the van was their gigging transport along that road. I love these guys and Brothers was the best album to come out that year. Nice to see some fresh, well played rock n roll.

The CD booklet features a whole series of not-El-Camino minivans. I have no idea what they're getting at by that, but I do know that the whole album is excellent.
