I'm still on my hesitator
A lonely big boat calls
And my resistance falls
Until my thoughts drift down to paper
And when I get that feeling
That I can barely contain myself
To bring them down upon account of the right time
And then replace them to the upper shelf
(I put my thoughts back up on the shelf)
Seems like time's agin' us
The losses mount to the winners
Another steady dose
Of awful TV shows
Crowing brand new has beeners
And if I seem delighted
I have to get you to check my pulse
It feels low down to the ground and now my money's gone
As I've been paying from some better results
Life goes on and on
Appreciate it
Cause when you're gone
You can't question a trace of how you made it
When you're down and out
Disintegrated
Just keep it in mind all the time that you've dedicated
Summer's moon's on the fader
Another seasonal perpetuator
Cold calls of fall will make me drop it all
Until we touch upon it twelve months later
Sometimes when I'm buying
The shit you're selling in your leather gloves
I get shot down, way down, to where the weather's better
And that the gods that I'm still in love
And when I get that feeling
That any mountain's too much to climb
I open my eyes and decide this ain't the first time
I tried reliving my original prime
Life goes on and on
Appreciate it
Cause when we're gone
You can't question a trace of how you made it
When you're down and out
Disintegrated
Just keep it in mind all the time that you've dedicated
In fresh air country silence
I lose the urban sick, slick violence
On every field of green
There is a silver sheen
That makes me question my own compliance
And when I field the query
I know the answer that I'm gonna give
It's not that one can beat the other in real time
It's just the scenery of how I wanna live
Thanks for playing Sloan. They’re a Canadian gem that never quite hit in the U.S., but we probably love them even more for it. Their second album, Twice Removed is a pop rock classic, a mainstay on Cdn top 10 lists.
New to me. This SHOULD have been a hit in the US.

They have both in the U.S. as well!

Not sure why they never "broke big" despite several hits. There was of course a joke around that the band was named after a porcelain urinal manufacturing company ...

Perfect start to Spring
Amen! A treasure of a Canadian band. IMO One Chord to Another is one of the best indie rock albums I've ever heard - rockin', smart, layered. It's so ironic that Geffen dropped them (hoping they would be another Seattle pop-punk band) after Twice Removed, which has turned out to be a classic of indie pop-rock and is always in the top 5 of any Canadian albums list.
Great story!

Terrific band.
Terrific band.

I tried uploading a new one and got an insta-sorry. Thought it was a shoe-in; they have some great poppy rock songs but, alas, not on RP.

New album coming out soon also.

I hear Ray Wylie Hubbard too and yes, that does sound like Manzarek on organ. Mark Knopfler (aka Bill's brother from another mother) is off napping...
What, because they have an organ? Wannabe Doors would have to sound at least vaguely Morrisonesque on vocals. Not this.

I could listen to this more...

They're big in Canada, but have had a hard time breaking the US market.
Are they big in Kenya?
Please play more!

Terrific back catalog with lots and lots of great songs.
So why nothing besides this song in the RP library? I like this tune, but will remain suspicious of others they've done.
I was wondering if anyone else heard traces of Timbuk 3.

Not at all - give them a listen. They have several sounds, and much of what they do is tongue-in-cheek. I really like Action Pact and Pretty Together.
Booker T meets Bob Seager meets Syntax.
Rockin!!
Lee Michaels anyone?
great line.
They are of course pretty well known in Canada

Well ozzie1313, it sounds like we got us a demographic going. I did my first marathon at 50, and now at 56 I'm also in my last semester of graduate school. And once again working away on a Saturday night to finish off a paper (grumble, gripe)... The only thing that keeps me groovin' through these papers is the cool beat of RP. Cheers
Love it!

You know Cy, that is is very intesting comment. I really think you said that propperly, and without any gramatical error.
Yes, love organs in rock. Add Traffic, the Allman Bros, Brian Auger, Deep Purple.
This is great on first listen. Love the intro.
8 on first listen.
Long live RP!

Good energy here. I dig. 9
Agree 100%!!

That's what I heard in the organ as well.
These guys have been around forever (not a bad thing.....always liked their stuff)
I am disappointed I had to hear this cut on RP instead of the CBC .....kudos RP
This is a very strong single from the new CD
Ironically, it seems that Bill plays more, and better, Canadian Content (TM) than the Canadian stations that are legally required to do so...
Disappointing indeed, but glad RP is around.
Most chances it's after E's hot girlfriend in entourage

I highly recommend that you dig into their discography. Each member of the band writes and sings his own compositions, making for an interesting and varied catalogue.

This is sooooo cooolll. I uploaded this song to the LRC last week and it was added to the playlist immediately
I am so used of having my uploads rejected, without ever knowing why.
Great song
One of my favorite bands.
Wonderful to hear them on RP.
Great melodies, soaring harmonies and crunchy guitars....
New to me. This SHOULD have been a hit in the US.
I Agree completely. Thanx RP!
