Thanks for playing Sloan. They’re a Canadian gem that never quite hit in the U.S., but we probably love them even more for it. Their second album, Twice Removed is a pop rock classic, a mainstay on Cdn top 10 lists.

Another interesting thing about Sloan is that they each play all the instruments, so set to set, you can have different members on different instruments, including drums.

This was maybe 10-12 years ago. What surprised me was how every song or two the band members would switch positions and play a different instrument.

Amen! A treasure of a Canadian band. IMO One Chord to Another is one of the best indie rock albums I've ever heard - rockin', smart, layered. It's so ironic that Geffen dropped them (hoping they would be another Seattle pop-punk band) after Twice Removed, which has turned out to be a classic of indie pop-rock and is always in the top 5 of any Canadian albums list.

funny, my first impression was of James McMurtry (another artist I now know/love courtesy of RP — Thanks, Bill!).
Like these guys who I never heard of until now! Like where were they all these years? Then noticed that this is their debut (on Radio Paradise).
If you really dig into the Sloan catalog you will find more of a Beatles pop influence on some songs than any kind of Doors wanna-bes. Saw them in 2013, very talented and the band members switch around on the instruments and have multiple lead vocalists.

I heard this song on RP and enjoyed it so I took a chance and picked up the album. It kind of took a while to grow on me, but I really liked it and listened to it heavily for a couple months, but then gradually forgot about it. I just ran across it and decided to give it a listen, and damn...I am blown away. It really is a superb album. I need to check out the rest of the stuff from these guys, and apparently there is a lot.

Sloan really evolved over time. I like how they've remained flexible - and yet I can still tell it's them.

This band is not quite what they used to be. Giving this one a 5. Their older stuff is definitely worth checking out.

Sometime in the early 90's I went to see the Lemonheads during their It's a Shame About Ray tour and Sloan opened up. I don't remember much other than I had a great time at the concert, but it's weird seeing Sloan's name again. I haven't seen it since that show so I'm glad to see they are still at. Love the driving beat of this song!

Well ozzie1313, it sounds like we got us a demographic going. I did my first marathon at 50, and now at 56 I'm also in my last semester of graduate school. And once again working away on a Saturday night to finish off a paper (grumble, gripe)... The only thing that keeps me groovin' through these papers is the cool beat of RP. Cheers

Wow. I just really LOVE this song! I love the energy, the droll voice of the lead singer, the lyrics - there is no bad here. Crap - I just spent money on some warm slippers for winter, but I might be able to eke out another purchase before my brother cuts up my card.

Kind of reminds me of the band NRBQ, not musically but the modus operandi. A band that has paid their dues, too good to be a hometown bar band but lacking that one break to go beyond regional and/or cult status (and often touring extensively). This song always makes me wonder how the hell I missed them all these years. I realize they're more than a regional band but they never hit far enough south for me to catch them.
