I can still remember every song you played
Long ago when we were younger and we rocked the night away.

How could I see a future then, where you would not grow old?
Such fire in our belly, such a hunger in souls.

I guess I've grown to love you in those words so often tired
Seen that we were traveling under some old lucky sign

I know I didn't say it then and no one was to blame
But the road we shared together once will never be the same.

Hey all along the way
Won't be coming round again. Hey was a song I played. And on the wings of a song, I'll fly away.

I wondered in the wilderness for a while I was so lost.
To everything there is a season and every blessing has it's cost.

So I took what you left to me and put it to some use
When looking for an answer with those three chords and the truth.

I come down from the moutain I come walking in your shoes.
I was taken for a glambler when I had no more to loose

For he put me on that path and how could I refuse.
And I would spend my whole life out here working on the blues.

Hey... Ay Hey. Hey. Ay. Hey. Heeeeeeeeey.

So I carried on, you can't be haunted by the past.
People come people, go and nothing ever lasts.

But I still think about you wonder where you are.
Can you see me from some place up there among the stars?

But down here under heaven there never was a chart
To guide our way accross this crooked highway of the (part?)

And if it's only all about the journy in the end
On that road I'm glad I came to know my old friend.

Hey all along the way
Won't be coming round again. Hey was a song I played. And on the wings of a song, I'll fly away. I'll fly away.

Another song which, for me, goes up one notch because of the lyrics.   Complex.

Aside from the questionable or very arguable quality or validity of your opinion (it's not a fiction or an allegory as many songs are, but an autobiographical song about Emmy Lou's relationship with a great American songwriter), the word "moribund" is also suspect. I think you do not mean this, as the word fits oddly or not at all into the context of what you have stated.

1. At the point of death or dying; 2. Approaching extinction; coming to an end; a moribund enterprise. - Funk & Wagnalls

I think you may instead mean morbid. Even that does not seem right.
1. Taking or showing an excessive interest in matters of a gruesome or unwholesome nature; being in an abnormally impressionable state of mind.

You can use whatever language you want. But if it doesn't paint the point, why speak write at all?
In any vocabulary, however, Emmy Lou crafted a very lovely song. Sorry, but your comment is mordant.

  No, I meant moribund.

An eloquent goodbye.

Wow..  must have struck a deep personal cord!  You might try the Abe Lincoln thing of not sending out a letter until the next day.  Many never got sent.  I really enjoyed the song, personally.  But I guess I was too busy at my desk to listen to the words.  What are bollocks?

Puh-leeze.  Opinions are cool, but ad hominem BS is not . You have no idea  what creative process (or not) resulted in this (fine) song.

To the best of my knowledge, they were never in a personal relationship. Partners in music and friends-yes. He was her mentor and maybe she just wishes they had had more time together, given his influence. But yeah, if they had ever moved onto the next level, she might have decided he wasn't "all that."

I like this tune. First one of hers I've liked since Wrecking Ball and maybe something off Red Dirt Girl.
emmylou is an angel
well i guess everybody knows that

Agreed, sadly.  Sap-factor 12!

I've loved Emmylou for years.  But I've grown a little tired of her mourning for Gram, musically.  Could you please do it in private now, Emmylou?  I mean, it has been, what?, 30 years.  And by the way, the drum in this song drives me nuts.  Very repetitive.  I'll give this a 5.  I've rated her songs in the 9 or 10's, but not this one.

Here's to Miss Emmylou Harris for this most wonderful song!  {#Cheers}

Great picks this morning! Keep it up...{#Cheers}
She sure carries a torch for Gram, amazing after so long. True love really inspires.
Maybe a PERFECT song.
It aint nothing but plain, terrible American KITSCH!
What a privilege it is to experience her art.

Sounds like a cover of a U2 song that was never recorded. Especially during the chorus...

{#Notworthy}
Beyond the song, and Emmylou, I love the production on this, especially the guitar sounds and soundstage for the whole recording. Really well done. I always reach for my headphones when it comes on.
greattttttttt
When she hits those notes on the lyric "on the wings of a song / I fly away" she really makes me feel like flying away.  That is a truly great hook.

Pretty song but I swore it was a cover of U2 stuck in a moment...
Emmylou is wonderful, but THUNK, too much THUNK, drums, THUNK, THUNK, THUNK.

Thirding, fourthing that... it's kinda jarring for a song of this type.  Nice bridge though.

I'm pretty sure that when I die, Emmylou Harris's music will follow me wherever I end up.
I love this song! ;-)
...my world stands still when I hear her cover of "Pancho and Lefty". My most favorite ELH song to date.

Exactly! Love the song, hate the "thunk" - noise heard too often, unfortunately.

The drum and the rhytmic guitar sounds very much like "crazy horse" (N Young's band) ...
Emmylou—Our Musical Treasure. I just Wiki'd her and her output, collaboration, and contribution to music is truly remarkable.
One more great song from Emmylou—I love it.
A tender glance over the shoulder.

Emmylou is wonderful, but THUNK, too much THUNK, drums, THUNK, THUNK, THUNK.
Back to back with Patty Griffin's "Goodbye"
Two powerful and beautiful songs about loss
I want to love it.... but I'm not.
I never thought much of Emmylou but I just love her new LP.

THANKS to Bill & Co
Hard to ask for a more beautiful or deeply felt song.

What a lovely song, thanks.
This is great

Rocks like buttah
Not until reading Keith Richard's memoir did this song hit home for me.

Is good.  10 !
I can still remember just why I can't stand this...<mute>

Neil Young & Emmylou Harris - This Old Guitar

"This performance gave me goosebumps, raised the hairs on the back of my neck and made my eyes misty...Thank you for posting."       GRockBlues

"I think both John Denver and Neil young (both my faves) does justice and honour to their guitar."

"Incredible performance, Neil is the man that guitar is A piece of music history, Hank Williams and then Neil Young, damn. "       TheAngelus1898

"One of the best performances of a song that there is. Very soon after this show, Neil was scheduled for brain surgery and he did not know what his singing, playing, composing skills would be afterward, if any at all nor whether he would survive the surgery. Many artists would have canceled this show, but not Mr. Young. He's one of the very best."        indiana1fats

(Psst, Zim: hit the mute button or change the %$*& station next time. Works like a charm. Cheers.)

3 minutes I won't get back..

Love her, she´s been visiting Malmo at KB a couple of times, great.

The first time I heard this, I didn't think much of it for some reason.

I'm liking it now.  Maybe it's the good headphones or something.

YES! Plz play more Emmylou! 'Too much of everything is just enough". I think Emmylou fits that category.
Lovely song. I've been hearing Emmy Lou since the 1970s. Her songs are even more evocative now.
Some listeners seem to dislike female vocalists in general.

What, exactly, is this "miracle drug" you consume?  Yodeling generally sounds like that - ask Bono.

Emmylou Harris just keep on recording & releasing great music.  Gram Parsons would be ecstatic and so proud to know the heights she has reached in her own career as a songwriter, musician & singer. :-)  This woman is an American treasure!

What a fitting tribute to Graham Parsons.  Beautiful work, Emmylou... {#Clap}

Was never the biggest fan of her but something about this really moves me...like it :)
