Seas of concrete, wild eyes
Streaking colors, blurred to one
Always moving, blinding sun
Blinding sun
Cold discomfort, safety glass
Seasons turning, dying grass
California, gilded crowns
Mile markers, counting down
Somewhere down, down
Down in the ocean of sound, sound
We'll live in slow-motion
And be free
With doors unlocked and open
Doors unlocked and open
Isolations
Isolations
California, gilded crowns
Idle workers, counting down
Somewhere down, down
Down in the ocean of sound, sound
We'll live in slow-motion
And be free
With doors unlocked and open
Doors unlocked and open
Somewhere down, down
Down in the ocean of sound, sound
We'll live in slow-motion

As there were no recent comments, thought I'd drop in to say I like this song and am glad it's on the playlist.
Been a DCFC fan for years after first reading about them in Esquire magazine of all places. That night I bought most of their albums from Amazon

OK, now I'm imagining some future version of archaeologists digging up somebody's Spotify playlist and interpreting who they were and how they lived based off from their music selections. I don't know, maybe there is something to this, lol!
They'll all be really confused if they come across all of our RP listen histories
Coincidentally when this LP came out I gifted a copy to a sibling who later said it got them through a challenging time in their life, with some very relevant meaning in this song and others like You Are a Tourist.
Criticizing music is the biggest waste of time ever, turn it off and "heb schnorre" if you don't like it.
Very well stated! If you don't like it, hit the "skip button". ...problem solved!
What tends to survive the ages and get dug up the most by archeologists? Art is right up at the top of the list along with architecture, weapons, and food-related items such as firepits and pottery. Art is an important indicator of society and culture.
And, if music isn't art, what is it?

This would not have been a good song to have on the playlist for the Titan.
There were NO good songs for that debacle!!
Death Cab for Cutie is a
Song by The Bonzo Dog Band

Lyrics
That night Cutie called a cab, uh huh huh
(Baby, don't do it)
She left her East Side room so drab, uh huh huh
(Baby, don't do it)
She went out on the town
Knowin' it would make her lover frown
(Death-cab for Cutie)
(Death-cab for Cutie)
Someone's gonna make you pay your fare
The cab was racin' through the night, mm mm mm
(Baby, don't do it)
His eyes in the mirror, keepin' Cutie in sight, uh huh huh
(Baby, don't do it)
When he saw Cutie, it gave him a thrill
Don't you know, baby curves can kill
(Death-cab for Cutie)
(Death-cab for Cutie)
Someone's gonna make you pay your fare
Cutie, don't you play with fate
Don't leave your lover alone
If you go out on this date
His heart will turn to stone
Bad girl, Cutie, what have you done, uh huh huh
(Baby, don't do it)
Slippin' slidin' down-a Highway 31, mm mm mm
(Baby, don't do it)
The traffic lights changed from green to red
They tried to stop but they both wound up dead
(Death-cab for Cutie)
(Death-cab for Cutie)
I always wondered where their name came from

A: "I don't know" and "I don't care".
Q: What's the difference between The Decemberists and Death Cab for Cutie?
A: I don't know and I don't care.
; )
Still sounds NEU! after all these years.
Yes if you would't know you might hear Klaus Dinger on drums. Great.

I would buy a "d´"
sorry too pompous for RP .... it's only music. Art is the biggest waste of life - choose beer - a beverage such as Michelob for instance

I like this! Great new song!
Released in 2011. Everyone has a different definition of 'new'.
And it is great. I wasn't insulting you.

or maybe a beer instead
Same here!
Ditto
Thanx RP! ...this is the 1st place I heard them! ...GREAT!
Same here!
replace 'criticising' with 'discussing'. Art exists to provoke a reaction.

Criticizing music is half the fun of trying to enjoy it.

Are you crazy? I just bought the album because of this song. Great band.
me too... nice, fat, dry mix (with FLAC)
Good tune!!

With an average rating of "7.3" from over 3000 respondents, I have a strong hunch your request will not be granted, however, the PSD button apparently does produce immediate results.
As did your comment I'm sure.
Actually sounds like the Cure if they could play. And sing.
"The Truth Why Modern Music Is Awful" definitely makes sense to me.

Maybe you could just PSD, rather than impose your opinion on those of us who are quite happy to hear this.
I'm wondering whether all the PSD options that the new Web player offers will kill off complaints like that one...Check out the new player, kids, if you haven't yet.
Please retire it from the playlist, at least for a while!

And like others have said, I feel that this song starts off great and then gets less great as it goes on. I find myself liking it less each time I hear it.
Totally agree. The last part of the song, with its unyielding and repetitive drums, is lazy as anything. No variety in it and as a result I have got to the stage where I now find it very tedious to listen to. Please retire it from the playlist, at least for a while!
I logged in to say that the very beginning of this track, the part with the cool drums, reminds me of the song "I Looked at You" from The Doors' debut album The Doors. Odd that DCfC has "Doors" in this song's title.

LONG LIVE RP!!
*I've evened out my rating at an 8, the groove is good on this one at leastLLRP*
(lyricly speaking)
Yep, totally agree. 9
It's part of their charm.
No, now that you mention it..
I got the same feeling from just 1 listen.
Indeed. That's a good thing
Glad I don't have to pay your heating bills...
Boom chugga chugga boom chugga chugga.......
Surely this guys never heard this song by Kashmir.
I also totally thought of Kashmir.
Pat. That's an excellent word for it.
It's not likely; Kashmir is a pretty obscure band, probably not widely known outside of Northern Europe and especially unknown to most Americans, and there are hundreds of other songs which sound similar.
Surely this guys never heard this song by Kashmir.
Of course you can! But maybe that song is "Doors Are Locked and Open" by Birth Cab for Homely.
Yes, the doors can be unlocked but not opened. According to the title, these particular doors are unlocked, and also opened. Where is the confusion?

shouldn't that be a question mark?
Not really. They aren't expecting a response to the question.
Shouldn't the first word of your question begin with an upper-case letter?
I only commented on usage of apostrophes, not grammar in general... :-)
And I love RP too
Shouldn't the first word of your question begin with an upper-case letter?
I love Radio Paradise. Thank you all xx

Laughed my bl**dy a** off.
Superb!
(EDIT: Just seen Steve's subsequent post... actually I like the Decemberists but don't let fact get in the way of a fine joke!)
The day this band is considered in the same league as the Cure is the day I hang up my hockey skates...
I agree, yet the first minute I thought I was hearing a remix of 'Into the trees'! Then the vocals started and I was under no illusions!
Cure................. no

They had a great hit called "Spoon", which was a soundtrack for a tv-film "Das Messer" in three parts (from the story "the knife" by Francis Durbridge). When it ran on tv, it made the streets empty :-)) That was, when there where only three tv-channels in Germany.
Cure................. no
