There's a slow train coming
It's movin' on down the line
Steel wheels on iron rails
Tonight I'm fixin' to die
Woo, I hope you don't mind pretty mama
Woo-hoo, hope you don't mind if I go

'Cause when the steam from the slow train rises
I ain't gonna see you anymore

There's a slow train coming
Coming right on time
Smokestacks and bottle lightning
This jumper on the line
Woo, I can't do without it anymore pretty mama
Yes, I can't do it without it anymore

'Cause when the steam from the slow train rises
I ain't gonna see you anymore

There's a slow train coming

To march us home from war
With my leather boots and my haversack
Sure can take it no more
Woo, I cried for her baby when I saw you there
Woo-hoo, I cried for her just the same

'Cause when the steam from the slow train rises
I'm gonna cry for you just the same

Well there's a slow train coming
Carrying the mighty worker hordes
Eighteen days in the cotton field
Enough to put a man out of coup d'amour
Woo, It's time to move on pretty mama
Woo-hoo, Yes it's time to move on as I go

As the steam from my slow train rises
It's time for me to get on board

Demand for No.11  is too damn high.

I remember back in the day when everyone was saying that Trower was ripping of Hendrix's licks. Listen to what Trower was doing back then now, and you can see that he had his own unique sound.

When this song first started playing, it was background music, but I immediately recognized it as Joe Bonamassa. I said to myself "I keep hearing this guy". He might be the real deal. Time will tell.

Robin Trower is 3rd on my list of guitar heroes, worshipped from afar for decades and saw live once. A guitarist has to distinguish themselves by tone, technique, and innovation, among other things. To reach the level where one can almost instantly recognize a guitarist from among the millions of players on the planet is an incredible accomplishment. I think Bonamassa is reaching that. And I certainly never thought Trower stole anything from Hendrix.
Fake blues/soul accent.  Cliche line "...a-coming", done a thousand times before. And then cue the guitar solo, typical chord changes, like I didn't see that a-coming.  Has nothing to say.

Too long, too heavy, too bluesy for my taste. Anyway a powerful song.
Yes, DAMN GOOD...

Saw JB for the 5th time in Madison WI a few weeks ago. Front row center seats, worth every extra dollar.  Smokin'
42 and he's been playing professionally for 30 years. And he keeps getting better and better.  Got to change my 9 to a 10!
Half of my family became Californians because of the "Dust Bowl".
This must be for those of you who have never heard Walter trout before. And Walter Trout is for those who have never heard the blues played without actually having the blues before. Still - better than post-Dominoes Clapton.
Never get enough of Joe....

BORRIINNGG. Easy 1 for me. Like many of the "great" guitarist's-guitarist, virtuoso players, I'm totally over it after about 2-minutes of being impressed by what and how they can play. Where are the catchy, good tunes? I'll take a mediocre musician but talented songwriter over this any day of the week. Give me a 10-minute, 2-note Neil Young solo.

Well the Blues and R&B are out there, you just got to make a little more effort to seek it out.  Don't know if we need a "popular" blues revival to make it all matter.  If it drives up ticket prices and crowds out the common folks that want to attend concerts, then who needs it?  SLC is hosting their annual Blues Festival in two weeks and it's going to be a blast.  It was awesome last year and it'll be even better this year.

I agree with you on the beer thing though...

Agreed.  Plenty of acts like Joe B. and Keb Mo doing the legwork.

Seeing Joe for the 7th time in Austin next weekend and then again in November.  Can't get too much of Joe.  {#Bananajam}

We will most definitely be catching his show whenever possible.  It's simple and true to the music.

I've seen Joe live four or five times.  Next up:  Red Rocks this August.  I swear his performances get better and better.  This man can play the guitar!
Absolutely great!
30 years in the music business and still nobody knows who he is :(

It's the blues, son.  There are strict musical and lyrical forms that must be observed if you 'play the blues'.

If not, you risk irritating the ghosts of Blind Willie McTell, Junior Wells, Champion Jack Dupree, T-Bone Walker, Albert Collins, Ray Charles, Muddy Waters, Pinetop Perkins, Lightnin Slim, Taj Mahal, John Lee Hooker, Albert King, Freddie King, Charlie Musselwhite, Duane Allman, Roy Buchanan, BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and, yes, even Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin.

Mr. Bonamassa is a very, very good bluesman.  Here's proof.

This is the type of old style music that is played with a new twist to it,even if we've heard this beat 1000 time, it seem to be almost like new. It remember me of Johnny Winter.
Give it 3 points for the intro alone... ominous and foreboding. For a total of 3.

Nearly, NEARLY like Bonamassa more than Stevie Ray.  This is an 8, maybe, well, I'l think about it. Great music, thank you Bill & Rebecca.

I didn't think it was so great, then I turned the volume up...
Went on Joe's Blues Cruise a couple of years ago....hearing two fabulous on deck concerts under the stars was unforgettable. He's even more incredible live.

American Net'Zen
....... a good solid 8
My only beef is that it sounds a little muffled and I really had to crank the volume to get it where it needs to be for this wicked tune.
{#Notworthy} 10
Was looking for a "great" guitar player ever since SRV passed away.

Found Mr. Bonamassa ("BonnaWho?") and my quest is done.

IMO best living guitar player.

Seen him three times and each time was better than the last.

Go see him live.  He tours all of the time ala BB King.

He has a great podcast at thepickupradio dot com.
Reminiscent of John Mayall in his prime.

yeah and it just keeps on going........
Run for cover, run and hide! What an unstoppable force this is.

Wry and ironic. Clearly, he knows how to give his axe a hell of a sonic bender workout.

The gut can sure play the axe!!
Eye of the storm has to be kidding.
A pretty bad ass tune
"Check please!"
THIS SHIT IS FOR REAL
Took 30 years off my age for a moment. So perfectly played!

Wow! What a good rock! Sounds as it's made in 70's
Dude better learn now to play his guitar.
Apt name for a tune like this that has a great grinding groove.
State of the Art, circa 1969.
This is the stuff the guys in the AARP and Viagra commercials are wailin on

How bout some real present day guitar slingers?
Brent Mason or Frank Gambale for starters

Thanks....the show was great. Like most bands.....that band is no longer. The guitar player I'm with now would not attempt to play this.
Discovered this guy on listening at Waterloo Records while I was working in Austin in 2000, immediately fell in love with the powerful debut album 'A new Day Yesterday', great memories.
Only too ashamed to say I hadn't paid enough attention to Joe Bonamassa. What a talent he is.
Got our tickets for Red Rocks. We only see him in places beginning with R (Roanoke, Richmond).
Nice past 60 minutes. Robin Trower, Joe Satriani and now Joe Bonamassa

Interesting, hadn't made that connection but I can see it.

Dewar/Trower was a killer combo, that's for sure.
Have now seen him and band twice— two different shows but both ass kicking lol  {#Bananajam}
All right!
Great stuff.  Cracking drummer, too, deserving of more than a mention.  ↑ 9.

Extra points for using "haversack" in a song.

If you are interested in a fantastic show, go see Joe.  First half is acoustic, second half is electric...and it's all incredible.  Truly a rising star.  Thanks Bill!

he's brilliant but I actually prefer his acoustic stuff.
Didn't we hear this just yesterday?  Does Joe only have one or two songs worthy of airplay?
Next song should be - Breaking Into Heaven / Stone Roses, followed by Rough Justice / Rolling Stones.

I'd call it blues rock on feckin' steroids. Meatier than a cow pie. Rockier than the Himalayas. Sheer metalfittin' crunchy volume-to-11 rockin' goodness.
I don't know if I'm in an exceptional good mood (don't specially think so) cause I find the programmation during the last hour  (11/1/14 at 12 am California time or 8 pm in Brussels) to this piece really extraordinary.

Thanks Bill

I don't often listen to the blues, but when I do, I listen to Joe Bonamassa.

Saw Joe August 31 at Red Rocks outside of Denver.  Tribute to blues legends Muddy Waters and Howlin Wolf plus a few of his own tunes.  If this guy isn't or doesn't become known as one of the greatest guitarists ever . . . .

Awesome!

Bonamassa is up there with Jeff Beck. If you want any more info feel free to ask.
This has to be one of the most kick-ass songs for the last five years and Joe B. has a unique playing style and great singing voice.  Most excellent !!
