There's a place where the sun breaks through
And the wind bites cold and hard
Stings my ears and
Tears my eyes
When the day starts to shout out loud
Stand tall
And glide
When you're all alone in the crowd
Don't fall
Don't hide
When you walk above the clouds
When you walk above the clouds
When the light is against your face
And your smile is soft and sound
That's when you tell me all your fears
and all your dreams
So proud
Stand tall
And glide
When you're all alone in the crowd
Don't fall
Don't hide
When you walk above the clouds
When you walk above the clouds
I try and tell you
to keep your head upright
Don't swing your sword and shield against the night
Don't block your blessings, boy
You don't have to fight
You don't have to fight
Stand tall
And glide
When you're all alone in the crowd
Don't fall
Don't hide
When you walk above the clouds
When you walk above the clouds
And the wind bites cold and hard
Stings my ears and
Tears my eyes
When the day starts to shout out loud
Stand tall
And glide
When you're all alone in the crowd
Don't fall
Don't hide
When you walk above the clouds
When you walk above the clouds
When the light is against your face
And your smile is soft and sound
That's when you tell me all your fears
and all your dreams
So proud
Stand tall
And glide
When you're all alone in the crowd
Don't fall
Don't hide
When you walk above the clouds
When you walk above the clouds

Don't swing your sword and shield against the night
Don't block your blessings, boy
You don't have to fight
You don't have to fight
Stand tall
And glide
When you're all alone in the crowd
Don't fall
Don't hide
When you walk above the clouds
When you walk above the clouds

Like the ELO version, but it is only just over 2 minutes long. Feel a little short changed, somehow.
gahhhhh... This song is the perfect argument for a zero rating that if selected enough times immediately terminates the play and erases all evidence of its existence from RP's records. Perhaps it could even trigger a human based process that results in the artist being found and receiving a pie in the face.

If only she were actually 'signing' :D
just kiddign. I just wanna have fun.
Had to stop my work and find out whose was signing, pleasantly surprised and very much liked the entire vibe.

Wow. What a beautiful song. Saw her live once, she is awesome.

Agreed. Lauper has been an unjustly underrated singer during her career.

It's got that Bangles-are-over Eternal Flame vibe is what it's got.
I like sensitive songs and I like Jeff Beck. But this sounds like Christian rock or music for old people. Blech.

Agreed. I always liked the Electric Light Orchestra (ELO)'s original. This is the first cover I've ever heard of it. Kudos to both Cyndi and Jeff (for collaborating).
I had to stop my work as well but it was to see who was singing this horrible song. Volume has been turned down untill it is over.
