Wipe up the coffee moment! Thank you
Total honesty time:  I love bluegrass... I love country... I think the sound of '24 Lloyd Loar Mandolin is among the sweetest sounds on this planet.  I feel like I should like the banjo, but I don't.  The sound is grating and harsh.  There... I said it.
First time I've heard this.  Really nice.

I would have bet money that was Jerry Douglas on slide.

No matter. This is quite amazing.

Honestly thought this was him with Bela... Really liking this.
very nice!

Yep
Beautiful playing but not for me.

Bella Fleck should kiss this guys a**! This dude rocks, and more importantly, he understands the sound of a banjo, and where it belongs.

Having seen Bela Fleck twice solo and once in the background  of the Sparrow Quartet, you be fulla it, my friend.

First, please spell his name right.  Second, do you really think Bela Fleck doesn't understand the sound of a banjo?
Not my taste!

That's what it reminds me of! Thanks.

{#Sleep}   Bring me some men in chaps and fringed leather vests.

Great transition piece from dire straits to a new artist ( for me) that was mighty fine!

Sure sounds like it to me...

Beautiful!!

Sounds like a banjo pondering the stars.

out side of RP, I would never hear this music

This I would, but I agree with the sentiment.  RP exposes everyone who listens to it to something or other new to their sensibilities.  Praise be!
I think this came out in early 2008. I've loved it ever since.

Kind of Bella Fleck-ish - I like it {#Music}

Ah, Béla Fleck... undoubtably the most talented musician I don't like listening to!

This is a great songWow, what a great song.. Need to add this to my on the go mix.

Can't complain about a smokin' banjo!  Not possible to be crabby with a banjo riff rockin' the speakers.

how much beer do you need before you could like this ?

Spoken by a dude from Germany; where they make some damn fine beer!
As for the song, I can take it or leave it; seems a bit aimless.

Hootenanny music.

Awful in every way
Great song, if ya mention the Dirt band ya have to mention John Hartford too his Aereo-Plain is a great album preceeded "Circle" and has Norman Blake , Vassar Clements, Randy Scruggs and Tut Taylor on it and was produced by David Bromberg and done in one take. I looked for it on cd and they had 2 used copies at $111, I guess thats vinyl which I have 2 lol wish I had about 10. Oh and Tut Taylor sold Neil Young Hank Williams Sr's Martin guitar which Neil still plays

Wohoo — love it! Great for a Saturday afternoon's homebrew tasting. {#Cheers} (IPA that I just kegged.  Turned out fantastic!)

The beautiful guitar outro of Dire Straits - You and Your Friend segued into this song was Great. Thanks RP!

I'm pretty sure Steve learned to play banjo from John McEuen of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, for whom he used to open.

I am sure Steve learned a lick or two from John, but according to Wikipedia he was playing banjo while working at Disneyland in his teen years.

But oh... I remember seeing him with the Dirt Band, and the "Steve Martin Mull Review" tour.... back in the day.  He is a talented banjo picker.

Reminiscent of the music from the TV show Firefly.

no, Billy Cardine of The Biscuit Burners, a great Asheville, NC band.

Well, anyone who plays with Bill Evans and John McLaughlin is pretty good in my book. I'd love to hear some of those collaborations here (you asked for it, Bill!) Give us more!
Holy CRAP that was incredible! More, Bill, more!!
Is that Jerry Douglas playing 'resonator'?
Awesome!!
This is NOT your parents banjo. Modern, clean banjo sound. Like it.
ahhh.... makes sense now, thanks Bill
I like it! Sounds a little like Bela Fleck
nice pickin
very soothing!
What is this, new song hour? (not that I'm complaining)
Nice, folksy
